Haha! I've not been called young man for a while. Trimming the silver beard does take years off me though lol. It does look a nice place to run. Some classy dog bins down that way 😁👍🏻
Well done Mark. You have some great trails to run on! Saturday was a weird one, I was running first thing wearing several layers, then by the afternoon was in the garden in a tshirt ☀️
Thanks, Reto 👍🏻 I'm excited about it myself. I've taken your prompt and started doing something about my knee. After your comment on strength training, and some Google searches, I'm foam rolling and doing some exercises for it.
@@markg99 Awesome to hear about Garmin coaching plan. Makes sense with exercises and foam rolling. After several years of over-use injuries and the resulting inconsistent training and frustrations, I now invest in strength & mobility and I've been healthy for 18 months and run 3,000+ miles. And it's a lot more enjoyable this way!
Thanks, Chris! When I first started running I did the couch to 5k program and that worked out ok. I was almost 45 years old at the time. If you have a little bit of base fitness behind you then you could certainly try using a Garmin 5k program instead. Setting it to a completion goal rather than a time goal will mean you can go as slowly as you need to and the program will ramp up the distance slowly as the weeks progress. If you select coach Jeff Galloway then he encourages you to run and take walking breaks, which is ideal for a beginner and is the same approach that C25K uses. That would be my suggestion but it's based on limited experience and not something I've done myself. The main point would be to go as slowly as you need to and if the program gets too much for you then try a different approach. Best of luck with whatever you decide and thanks for getting in touch 👍🏻🏃♂️
@@markg99 thanks for the reply mark! I’m just starting and have been doing couch to 5k, currently have an Apple Watch and it’s a bit of a pain setting the intervals etc, the Garmins are tempting me! From a fitness point of view, I’m 33 years old and really unfit but have been doing something about it the last 6 months May give the Garmin a try, the battery life will be an upgrade on the Apple Watch too
Nice video, finding, plotting and exploring new routes is always fun. 👍
Cheers mate. It certainly makes a nice change. Helps when the sun's out too 👍🏻
@@markg99 ...and when the sun's out....
Great run brother! Keep em coming.
Cheers man. That's the plan! 🏃♂️👍🏻
I love coming along for these peaceful trips in the English countryside! Great start to your 5k journey - I can't wait to see your progress!
Thanks! Glad to have you along. I'm really enjoying the change of pace with having a 5k time goal now.
@@markg99 For years I hated shorter races because they hurt so bad, but in the last 6 months I've really come around! Keep pushing!
Love the new route and keep it up.
Cheers mate. I made sure to drink plenty of water when I got home this time as well 😁👍🏻
@@markg99 Good man👍
What a great local spot to run. Keep up the great work Mark.
Thanks! It's always nice to discover new places to run.
Well done young man! Cracking run! Wicked new route looks well maintained 👌🏻 the 3rd dog bin was my favourite that was a real vintage 🤣😜

@@markg99 🤣 do a Chris and shave it all off. Those bins certainly are premium 🤣👌🏻
I had no idea you were making videos until I saw the livestream on with Dan, Chris and Ben last night! Really happy you’ve started!
I've been keeping it secret lol :) Thanks for checking out this one, Isobel. I'll try to get some slick editing skills like you eventually!

Thanks! Yes, I soon warmed up. The range of temperatures that day was pretty big. Everywhere looks so much nicer when the sun's out too.
Great progress Mark and excited to see how you like the 5K Garmin Coach plan! 11K is fantastic! That's a lot of bins to empty...

Nice Duck Marsh 😁nice video!
Cheers, Mihai! My random commentary even surprises me sometimes lol.
I nearly always take the random path or just make my own path, it's much more fun & usually less dog poo! 😂🏃
You're a bold adventurer at heart mate 😁👍🏻 At least with the dog poo I now know where all the bins are!
Good video! Do you think Garmin coach would be good for someone just starting running, like a couch to 5k mode?
