I dunno why, but I for one find it so satisfying when I or others take old technology and upgrade the parts to make it work as good as or better than new. The new servo motors in this is what reminded me.

I was watching this trying to figure out how to animate some dolls I'm trying to make for a huge project next year so I just looked at the very toy that started it all for me mr. Theodore Ruxpin when you add the Alexa devices can you also customize their voices as well just wondering?
"...make the Teddy Ruxpin do what you want". You're gonna have all variety of animated-toy protection agencies pounding down your door. Or, Paramount pictures will get wind of this and produce "Toy Of Frankenstein".

When I tried to take our original one (1985) apart to work on, the brown plastic was very brittle. Yes, I was careful as I’ve “tinkered” on fixing other stuff all my life. Oh well. I could’nt have done the ardino and code thing anyway.

I think amazon has put some limitations on that, you can't make it voice activated and you can do some features like music.
there are some python libraries that bypass those limitations. search for alexapi on github

I'm probably going to sound like a noob saying this, but I wonder if there is a way to change how the mouth moves based upon the amplitude of sound going through. I'd imagine it would possibly make the mouth movements look more realistic.

You can use PC or Rasberry Pi and a camera to track your face, and then send instructions for the servos. You could even add two side voice comminication.

alice cooper tapes seemed to make teddy ruxpin "talk" just fine.
I would do this on a Spiderman toy, and make it say spooderman quotes. Possibly even make it sing the spooderman theme song, and replace the head with spoodermans

I just revived my untested teddy Tuxpin and grubby in the mail this morning and thats how I ended up here but I'm a simpleton when it comes to computers so watching this has made me so sad but lucky I have computer savvy friend *fist pumps* so it's not a complete fail, hopefully I can report back with to alive creatures
You know when he means he will make it say whatever he wants? Well it won't be in the real "ruxpin" voice. The original voice was prerecorded. So don't get your hopes up. Of course, I may be wrong but who knows
you should do a video on: how to transmit analog tv signal using raspberry pi's RX gpio pins
you could put a mode so it repeats what you say (with a mic) using a voice changer :P

Translated in Dutch Teddy Ruxpin is pronounced as Teddy Jerk off spider, which boggled my mind. Even as an eight year old kid.
Arggg, you mean and deceiving villain. You left us hanging. Oh well, MAYBE I'll come back to watch Teddy talk and (knowing your feelings against the poor teddy) scare more children. Just kidding. I have one and luckily it still works if I could just find those darn tapes.

I suggest removing the extra sketch lines at 4:13. They detract from the drawing and make it more confusing to look at.
