The second they said that I thought, "This is gonna hurt." I didn't know just how right I was. Not only was their story painful, but there was everyone else, each suffering in their own way. Clive, loosing his best friend, Fernand, willing to do anything to follow his ideals only to realise that he was wrong as he was dying in the arms of the friend he'd betrayed, Rinea, the innocent woman killed because she trusted too much, the Divine Dragons, loosing first eachother, then themselves, Berkut, loosing everything, his ideals, his future, his love, his life, and even himself, because his whole story had been a lie. And the end, leaving us with the reminder that evil will always return to destroy us. This entire game was beyond sad. I don't even know how many times I cried playing it.
The SoV was what I believe to be the great transition period from the revival games of Fates and Awakening, to the deep, narrative driven games that Fire Emblem could produce. From voice acting, a real story, and new mechanics, SoV stepped up the franchise in many ways.
Yeah, I thought Three Houses introduced many mechanics but it was actually SoV that introduced Combat Arts, the new magic mechanic and moving around as a character (although this was in dungeons only for SoV.) It really did step up the franchise and I love this game so much.
@@furfousir1420 Nobody called it the pinnacle of storytelling, the OP merely mentioned it was deep and narrative driven. Also no way the story in Echoes is worse than Fates, Echoes at least feel like the writers put in some effort to create a consistent plot unlike the convoluted mess of Fates.
I remember starting this game and getting hit immediately by this opening theme with all those cutscenes. That truly is an amazing way to begin this game and this story.
I'm so sad that this game went under a lot of people's radar, due to it releasing on the dying end of the 3DS lifespan, it deserves much more recognition. Like you said words aren't enough to describe how gorgeous this game really is, everything from its art style, fantastic music, and even beautiful story and emotional beats it carries/builds off of the original game. This game took me on an emotional ride, and I'm glad to have been introduced to the FE series in time for this masterpiece
I love SoV music; I still consider its music to be better than fe3h. It reminds me of the same level of orchestration as the zelda series. Thank you for your hard work! ♡
Can I just say that this is so far my favorite Fire Emblem game? The characters and story was just so good and well illustrated it's just a phenomenal experience. You controlling both units on the map is also very neat.
@@ninjagamergirl196 Can't blame you for being a fan of Echoes, the game is fantastic from start to finish. I'm probably in the minority of saying I really liked Fates too, despite it being pretty easy.
Khada Jhin don't get me wrong, i love fates. Its just that it's too much fan service that it's ruining it for me to actually like like it . I mean i like three houses too, but it's kinda overrated. :/ idk. (Yes my biased is coming out) but i love my fire emblem games. I'm glad i found it and I'm glad Awakening revived it. Awakening is probably my 2nd fav
@@ninjagamergirl196 You're right, the fanservice was too much in Fates, even though I liked the children characters you unlocked after you got a couple to S+. Fates: Conquest was the first FE I played and it was painfully difficult on permadeath. After I finished Conquest I got Birthright and Revelations and they were, compared to Conquest, a walk in the park. 😅
Khada Jhin Awakening was the first game I played. After smash bros announced some more fe characters, i got into the franchise. I like swords as well which made me love the medieval aspect of Fe. I only found out about Echoes like last year, then i got the game 4 months ago. Tbh i didn't finish playing fates (because of fanservice) although i spoiled myself for those the game. Echoes stood out to me the most considering its a remake of Gaiden. I wanted to know what past games were like. Awakening will always be close to heart because it brought back the series. But Echoes would be one. With fates and the houses clashing for 3rd
While Three Houses is amazing, SoV will still remain my most favorite FE game. It's overall just gorgeous, even if the setting is simple. I love the designs of the characters (bless this artist) and the soundtrack is godlike. Just listening to this really makes me miss playing that game.
The presentation (art style, music, and arguably voice acting) are just better in SoV imo. I was really disappointed they went away from this art style in 3H. 3H is much better game play wise (talking actual battles), but just about everything else is better in SoV.
This games theme, music, and story is so emotional and I love it. Probably one of the most emotional fire emblem games I’ve played. This game is beautiful and is tied with FE3H for the best FE game. Absolutely adore this game and great remix vetrom. ❤️
I can't explain why, but this game is and always will be my favorite game of all time. Its so unique and refreshing to play something that made you feel happy and sad, crushed and hopeful at the same time. The story is unrivaled, and the art style and music are timeless. No other fire emblem game comes close to this, and i don't think any will ever achieve what this game did.
Probably my favorite story in the franchise! The presentation was top notch. Only thing that needed work was the gameplay. It’s unfortunate how underrated this game is. Thanks for this remix!!
I love how alms sword is raised, symbolizing war and conflict, rising to the challenge, with the symbol of faith behind him, her eyes closed as she desperately clings to her hope that it all is a lie. Celica is also alma past, showing that alm has put who he was away for the greater good, having lost faith in a peaceful resolution, and later on losing faith that things can ever be normal again, this loss of faith is also why alms eyes are open, since he sees it all for what it clearly is. Celica's eyes is closed because she is cling to a hope that is no longer possible, and a faith that will not serve her, she is devoted to her cause, but it is nonetheless a vain one because Mila is gone and Duma has gone mad. She is also blind to their mistakes, her faith idolizing Mila as a perfect goddess and not the flawed dragon she actually is. Alm rises to the challenge accepting responsibilities he would not be expected to carry out where as Celica runs, chasing after a god who will solve her problems. Their duality brilliant brings the theme of it all together. Faith must work hand in hand with reality, never misplace it, and always make sure to take control of your destiny. I would argue that besides three houses it has the strongest narrative, it has the most realistic characters for its setting, which have excellent voice acting that I would dare say is better than 3 houses, and its presentation is easily one of the best in all of fire emblem, with its overworld and character designs giving the most unique impression I have felt in the franchise. While map design is lacking, and its combat doesnt help, further compounded by a lack of difficulty (due to combat being badly balanced), it still manages to remain a solid gameplay experience, and is far from the worst, with its narrative and characters doing a lot of heavy lifting, which is problematic since most FE fans dont focus on those elements as much as the gameplay, meaning it could only do so much. I would reccomend this game hands down, have not seen a fire emblem as intriguing as this one, and I love it for it.
I remember this being my 2nd Fire Emblem game. My first was Fates, and I thought that game was sort of pretty good, but it lacked a bit. So my expectations for Echoes were understandably low. Then I play like 1h of it and think, "holy shit, this blows Fates out of the water!" A beautiful game in every aspect, it alone legit carried me through a very dark time in my life when nobody was there to help. I'll never forget it.
Shadows of Valentia was so great and I personally think it's an improvement from Fates and Three Houses because the story isn't branched. I wish they could make more games like this one.
This is so sick! The mix of different tracks like the Fire Emblem theme gives it this war rally song feeling (also a bit of Nier vibes). It's nice to see love and passion for this game even today. Now I wanna play the game again lol
Wow, a Fire Emblem cover artist who does more than just the GBA games! Don't get me wrong, I love the GBA games, but other games have fantastic soundtracks too! I've listened to a few of these FE covers and I really love them, they're my new favorite thing to listen to!! If I had to rank the 3DS FEs I'd say: Echoes>Awakening>Conquest>Revalations>BIrthright. Don't get me wrong I still liked Fates, but overall it was just a good strategy game that failed with Atmosphere,Story,Character Presentation, lore, and especially world building,. In a way, Fates (Conquest specially) was everything Echoes wasn't; it had great gameplay but the presentation was so,so, soooooo unbelievably bad. In Echoes, I cared about the characters because they all had personalities, they had families they want to return to, dreams and goals they want to accomplish, they had lives of their own and it helped that the voice acting gave them so much more personality (not to mention the lore and overall feel of the world was AMAZING). Conquest on the other hand challenges players through its gameplay but sadly, the game was one big blur to me; I don't remember the order of the chapters but I remember the maps overall. I remember the characters portraits in Conquest but I never cared for them. They were just units who I checked and vouched their statistical skill growths, the world wasnt amazing and after midway of the game I pretty much skipped the story overall. I didn't care for supports and I only paired characters who I thought were good parents for a child unit. And while the game had decent supports, I didn't care enough for their characters to actually be moved by characters People can groan over Echoes bad maps but it wasn't even a quarter as bad as Fates overall worldbuilding, story, characters, and presentation was. Besides, I thought some part of Echoes presented something of a challenge: e.g: If you want to get the Dracoshield from Desaix, Berkut's final map, Grieth's map was somewhat a challenge, etc.. One more thing about Fates was I keep forgetting the song titles like really, Awakening had RIDICULOUS (like "Agh won goph in mah mouph") song titles but I somehow remember them all more than Fates which had pretty generic song titles. Nevertheless the 3ds generation were solid entries but I happen to think Echoes is just the better and it paved way to Three Houses which was just so good. It's such a shame though, Echoes could've made the dungeon maps hard so it presented a challenge and still be faithful to the original Gaiden but meh, it turned out well mainly
