- Today, famed magician David Blaine came to Sway in the Morning to reminisce on scaring Sway on a plane with his skills. He also spoke about when magic tricks go wrong.
Blaine went on to talk about how most of the tricks are pulled off with skill and luck and how he feels about being accused of selling his soul to the devil. The magician also spoke about his relationship with Chris Angel. Nevertheless, David came through to promote his ABC Special "Will of Magic" which premieres this Thursday at 9:30PM Eastern time.

Truth Is on the Internet & RUclips I mean, he actually downplays himself a lot. Like, when asked what he does, all he answered was "I do card tricks". Keep in mind, this is the guy who could say that he works with demons and a fair amount of people would believe him. I just learned a super slick move last night. How to change a card to another holding it in your fingertips. I was more blown away by learning the move than by seeing the trick itself. It's a slick move and I can't believe I got it down so quickly.

Most people pay more attention to the stunts like holding your breath or spitting up the frog. But they overlook the card tricks, Trust me when i tell you , if you knew the amount of shit and skill it requires to do the card tricks he does , You would be more amazed by them instead of the stunts.

Diego Nieto Stunts are very impressive , But i encourage you to try one of his card tricks on a bunch of people at the store or something , Its nerve racking and hard as hell to not mess up . And some of the trick decks he uses are crazy intricate and genius , Most ppl just think oh theres another card trick , they have no idea what goes into most of them. And the moves he does , i know how some are done and still cant do them , that stuff is art , And under appriciated. Or he can hold his breath ! You see what i mean, Very impressive but not as skillful as the small stuff.

the amount of pain and endurance he goes through for something as simple as a 10 second trick is incredible, he has ripped through his hand to form scar tissue in order to put needles through it as well as trained for years so he can store living animals down in his esophagus and bring them up at will, many people look at his card tricks and see it pale in comparision to his 17 minute breath hold or 44 day fast, but these tricks take tons of effort as well

There's a lot of great magicians these days. Check out Asi Wind, he devises tricks for other magicians, including David Blaine. I don't know how many of his tricks he devised by himself or were. developed with or by someone else. David's a great performer. He's got his act down. He used to not talk at all or that much during his routines. Some of his stuff I can see what he's doing because I know the trick so I know what to look for.
I enjoy watching Fool Us. they always have great magicians some are flawless in their execution and there's always someone with unique tricks.

Yes, i know of his work. Do you know Derren Brown?. Good interview. One objection: Blaine stated that there were no "set-ups" used doing his recent TV special. I saw the Lemon trick he did and know how it's done. It requires a set-up by uncorking the lemon and inserting a rolled up dollar bill, then gluing the bud back onto the lemon. No snitchin, just supporting my objection. I met David in ATL Underground at The Magic Store and subsequently purchased my first magic trick ever. Props to Blaine.

Most of Angel's tricks (on TV) are from the result of camera angles and paid participants. All magic is "fake" obviously, but Blaine is a great illusionist.
blaine is a great illusionist but he also does things that are really physical which he makes people think are tricks

I know how he does some of his tricks, some of it does come down to luck but its very calculated luck and with practice and great skill he can make that luck take place consistently and if not improvise out of any situation

That's an easy one Sway! He used false cuts or just card management skills to split the deck and put it exactly where he wanted based on your number. Likely used the Faro shuffle to do it. A couple of ins and outs and it's easy to get the card from the top to any spot in the deck that you'd like.
