Omg I am absolutely convinced plants get lazy when you water and fertilize them at all times...!!! You speak truth. Over years I noticed, the plants I keep guessing when my care is going to come (I neglect and forget them multiple times a year!) do so much better overall!
Cutting back my nanouk has made a big difference. I propagated it and put it back in the pot, now its full and lush, and I even have started another pot! You taught me that, thanks.
The waste water from cooking is a great tip, I have something to add: Don't throw away the banana peelings after you eat your banana, instead put it in hot water for 10-15 min, wait for the water to cool and use the water on the plants, its great for the plants. Also the moisture meter is AMAZING, its super helpful to monitor my watering schedule from my calathea.

Thx to Planterina & her mentioning how she had her peace lily under lights (grew huge leaves) I’ve added LED lights & some leaves are twice the size now! Mine is older too. Also healthier blooms.

Not to mention, I learned recently, but at least here in the U.S. most newer windows installed on homes block a large portion of UV light so it effects the intensity of the light being received by your plants
1:19 Plants do not SWITCH to respiration at night. It occurs 24/7. It's just that photosynthesis cannot occur in the dark so the net effect is production of CO2.
I've been trying to find more answers about this recently. As far as I can tell there's nothing that plants _only_ do at night, but a few of the ones that flower use the levels of darkness to tell if they're supposed to flower or not. Be a fun science experiment to do sometime.
I like your sheets. You have plants everywhere. 😂 Thanks for the great tips. You sure love your houseplants. You have so many of them. I think I need to get a moisture meter.
I keep my plants in my room. Bc of my past, im terrified of pitch black dark. How do i know if my plants are getting enough darkness? Thx. I learned smtg. Im glad i subbed!!
Something about light that I don’t see people mention is that most windows in newer homes (particularly double pane) have UV filters built in which further reduces the amount of light our plants receive. I have lots of happy plants in a west facing window that receive direct light in the American Southwest, and I think that can partly be attributed to the UV filter. Just something to think about!
Also - do you ever talk about the Madagascar Palm? Mine is growing leaves that are not even - sort of lopsided-looking! I do turn the plant to give it light evenly. . . Also I do get some small black leaves. I don't overwater, and I do use a humidifier in the large room. West Window, bright light all day long. Thank you!

Good to hear. I leave the blinds open when I turn in about 4a.m. so the plants get the lamp all night so I can read and watch info vids(sleep disorder). Hope they are not stressing at the weird hours.

well. the dark part of photosynthesis is called like that coz it does not need light to go on, not coz it needs darkness 😅. however, darkness and it's amount sure are necessary and the light cycle regulates intracellular processes. also, indeed the respiration ( when mitochondrias are using glucose to make energy) happens in most plants at night. because during the day they are too busy with photosynthesis and making glucose. so if a plant is 24/7 under the light - it might get tons of sugar but no way to consume it and thus - starve.

Green Orange Plant. Chlorophytum something or other

A decent fertiliser like houseplant focus.
What is the difference between composting the top of your plant and fertilizing regularly with water soluble fertilizer?
