I used to have no internet back then, also only one computer which my family shared in the sitting room. My dad would not allow any games downloaded on the computer because for Asian parenting reason and also it would slow the computer down he said. He used to work at night so every evening he'd leave home for work. As soon as he got out the door I used to rush up to my room n get this disc out n run down stairs to install this game n play. I used to eagerly wait for it to install and could not wait to play the game. this soundtrack would play during loading screen. My heart rate would beat up, Filled me with so much excitement as I watched the loading bar to complete... after finish playing it, had to uninstall it and reinstall in back again tomorrow so my dad would not find out. Me n my bro used to laugh at the cave man's junk during Cinematic scene and seeing the robots was the coolest thing ever!

Empire Earth influenced me in so many ways tbh. As a young kid our whole family had to live with my grandfather cuz of serious obstacles that came up, which was like 2005 or 6 maybe? I was so young that my memories of that time only come in bits n pieces - This game being one I could nvr ever forget or let go. At such a young age I was using the Scenario Editor to make my own maps, playing Sims 2 on the same XP computer time to time. Thank you EE for giving me my passion for history, passion for worldbuilding and LOVE for RTSs as a whole ❤️
Exactly the same for me, though I had the original Sims instead, along with EE. As for history, today I study my degree in it, and I still remember well the first thing that got me into it in the first place was the Greek campaign!

The game overall was probably just as important as EE when it comes to history for me, come to think of it. Classical era being my favorite and all. I ocassionaly write some small fics for my favorite franchises as well, so I can understand the sentiment in this too. I wish you luck with your own project!
I'm fully with you - suggestion: Age of Empires 2 (another classic) is ..or rather has been getting revamped in the past few years. I'm continuously stuck to the game since > 2 decades, and I can only urge you to give it a try ;)
It was the distant 2000s. I was a snotty five-year-old kid who was returning from kindergarten and went to play this wonderful game. It was thanks to this game that I fell in love with the history and genre of real-time strategy. It is a pity that in our time in this genre there are very few worthy strategies. P.S. Many thanks to the creators of the game for a happy childhood.

This cyborg has earned some sympathy after all. The flying cyborgs Ares (with all points in attack, range and rest in HP + civ. specialization) win EVERY mission to me in no time. It was a pleasurable conquest. The turrets can't even attack them, and all ground units dies in seconds. Only threat is interceptors, but you should have some for yourself.

Still the game with one of the best age progression systems I've ever seen. Most games fit only one era into them, this one had em all, dawn of man to the far future. It's crazy how even today most games can't compare, don't get me wrong this one had it's problems but still. It's a damn good game.
Back in '08 i don't haved pc so every weekend i went in my cousin house in the otherside of the town to use PC/Internet, i have showed he AOE 1 and 2 in him pc and in that time we downloaded many things using the Ares Galaxy, someday i told he "Why we don't tried to download AOE3 ?" Then i put in the search bar in Ares Galaxy and appears a lot of results and i don't know Why i chosen one and i installed thinking that was AOE3 but when i opened the game instantly play this track with fantastic background image showing helicopter, a man shooting mounted in a horse and our minds just blow. When we see the numbers of Eras we was instatly shocked. In the game when we see than we can build aircraft we just don't believed. Our happiness was so much in that moment see a simple game with so many variety. And the fuckin guy saying "We are under attack" always creeping us out hahaha. One best RTS in the story.
chapter 3 or 4 was it? The one where you get attacked from all sides by friggin titan bombers ..... luckily you just have to use bombers yourself but still ...
Well Grigor II has proven himself a much more formidable enemy than I’ve given him credit for. Perhaps the only level from EE that I couldn’t have finish without cheats was the last level on the Russian Campaign.

make me remember being a little kid without any knowledge about ancient history and war playing this such a strong strory-line oriented game..Brits' campaign gave me goosebumps first time I played it. journet with William the Conqueror throughout the map with awe in every corner. The map full of interesting secrets and awesome events, opened my eye to more Medieval theme fantasy RPG such as Morrowind and Elder Scrolls franchise later on. And then struggling from hunter-gatherer into a sophisticated Hellenic civilization leads to Total War franchise. Meanwhile the epic Red Baron campaign led me to Operation Flashpoint , later ARMA franchise (where at the time,a single gunshot sound from distance scare the shit of me), and finally that egomaniacal robot Grigor II led me to Original War (this is the fucking best and wierdest RTS)
EE is the perfect combination of good UI and epic music EE Forever! Not even EE2 or EE3 can compare to this! Except that EE3 has a bit of a humour.. from what the Builder says xD

1999-2004. Best days of RTS franchise. Everyone was playing RTS games. Everybody knew titles like Age of Empires, Command and Conquer etc... If I ask any milenial "Do you know Age of Empires", the best answer you can get is "Is it a tower defense app?".....

I still have the old CD I bought when I was 10! Before I went off to college I got nostalgic and searched my house to find it, played the game virtually non-stop for a week in July.
This was my first contact with reality at ~8 years old due to how the song manages to describe the brutal ups and downs of human history (and indefinate future) brilliantly! A true masterpiece!
