Nice that all this was saved, just so sad we couldn't have saved American Sound Studio's itself. Rock and Roll history.

Spa Guy, I have never seen someone take the time to go to the level of DETAIL that I would go to if I could be there myself. I love to hear you obsess over a door or a sidewalk that is visible in an old photo. This IS EPIC FANDOM.

American was still open and intact in August 1988. I visited it then. Bill Glore was in the soundbooth. I have photos that I took that day both inside and outside.

Loved the sound that came out of that studio in the late 60's. The Elvis, Neil Diamond, Dusty Springfield and Box Tops records recorded there in the late 60's all have a distinct sound to them. All because of the studio musicians that worked there. Thanks Spa Guy for another great video.

Chips died not too long ago i believe. Man Billy, have you just sat and thought about how many legends who were involved in the music history that we have lost in just the last year and a half or so? It boggles my mind to think about it. I wont ever get over how many of just the Memphis Mafia have passed so close together. Good video. I've definately got to get there, and Jack White's place. (PS: If I get any tighter, I will be squeekin.) 😂

Bobby Wood and I are Cousins. His Mother and My Grandmother were Sisters. When I was growing up whenever I would visit my Grandmother she would always tell me stories about her Nephew Bobby Playing piano for Elvis. She enjoyed bragging about him to me since I was a big Elvis Fan.
Bobby Wood wrote a book called "Walking Among Giants - From Elvis To Garth, The Bobby Wood Story." It's a very good and interesting book,. It's incredible the number of major stars he's recorded with and how many classic hit records he's played on. He has also written a lot of Hit Country songs as well. It's a great book, I highly recommend it.

I don't know him personally, I've only seen him once and that was in 1993 when my Grandmother passed away. I did get in touch with him a year or so ago by sending him a Message through "The Memphis Boys" Facebook page. I told him who I was and how we're related etc. among other things. He sent me back a really nice response. That would probably be the best way to get in touch with him.
BTW: I had another relative (Great-Uncle) that knew Elvis and was his neighbor. It's a cool story, I'll share on your Audubon video.

You are the man! Blown away, Billy. Didn't know somebody was smart enough to save the guts of the studio just like Parker's office in Henderson. I'll bet that you could contact Bobby Wood and any of the others from ASR Memphis and head up a discussion group for Elvis Week or possibly Elvis Con (where you ran into Dick Grob; incredible). What's next, RCA Studio B? Please.

Thanks Spa Guy for another great video. Amazing & great music history of Elvis. Elvis recorded some of his greatest songs at American Sound Studio ...and some of my favorites too! So it was good to learn in your video that American Sound Studio was not totally lost and was preserved which I agree that it's incredible! It is also good to know that Elvis information can be found in places other than just Graceland or in Memphis and that Elvis' history and memories are recognized other places as it should be. Tighten up my friend :-)

My dad was good friends with Bill Glore who owned the studio and I knew him as well. My dad actually wrote a poem about the the Candlelight Service at Graceland which Mr. Glore saw and put to music. He said it was the last thing recorded at American Sound. I knew that before the studios was torn down that Mr. Glore had everything took out and in fact we have one of the tiles he gave us from the studios. I also believe they got some of the bricks and materials after the building was torn down as well. I also know that some items were sold to Jimmy Velvet. I believe he bought the piano that was in the studios for example. Mr. Glore was a special guy and when the studio was torn down he felt that he had let the fans down and I believe he died from a broken heart. He was never the same upbeat person that he was before the studios was torn down. It was sad that someone like Graceland or the city of Memphis or anyone did not step up and save the studios.

I've listened to the Stax sessions with Elvis and you can tell he's having a ball jamming. He sounds great and happy. It's a shame Parker put an end to it after that and made him go back with RCA. Anything Parker did with Elvis it seems was to his benefit more than Elvis.

Jerry Brittain A friend of mine wrote Always On My Mind. It was written for Elvis.
He said while he was in the recording studio he felt someone with him.
When he turned around Elvis introduced himself (as if he needed to)
He also said there was an aura (best way he could explain it) just a different feeling
when Elvis was in the room. This was the early 70’s.

@@roselintner1509 Elvis is an American Treasure who is never to be forgotten. He was truly one of a kind. He lived in a time only Elvis Presley could have lived. Elvis really was that great. I was a very small child when Elvis died, but I totally understand what he did here. I am a music fan in general. Elvis is timeless. A religious Elvis song played at a funeral today is just as glorious and appropriate as it would have been in the 1970's.
