The Baby Boy script was written for tupac but he couldn't be Init due to his passing so Tyrese ended up getting the role for the movie
Funniest scene for me is when Tyreses friend got mad at him saying he must look for a job for him 😅😞😅
The guy selling videos/DVDs is John Singleton. He made a 20 second appearance in his own movie just for the fun of it. You gotta love that.

I always laughed at the way Jodys momma jumped and fell back when Ving Rhames hit her son in the living room. He really hit him so hard his momma felt it. 💀
Here's a fun fact.
1. Despise that Snoop dogg didn't mind playing as a antagonist one thing he definitely didn't want to do is to disrespect the kid in the movie because he loved kids in real life and when he read the script and he found out that he has to be disrespectful to a little kid he felt so bad where like every time they finish the scene he wanted to apologize cuz he love kids so much.
2. John Singleton was in the movie playing as the DVD guy in the blue shirt early on in the movie with Jodie was talking about starting his selling clothes business to self.
3. Tupac was originally supposed to play as Jodi instead of Tyrese Gibson. This movie was written for Tupac but due to the timing of his death in 1996 the movie was put on hold by John Singleton. So in tribute to have Tupac to live on in this movie he had 2pac song Hail Mary to be included and a picture in the background on the wall in the bedroom of Jodi's room. Another thing John Singleton and Tupac were close friends, so that was another reason why Tupac picture and song Were in the movie because they were close friends and that's also the reason why Tupac was supposed to play as Jodi instead of Tyrese Gibson.
4. John Singleton said this also in 2 Fast 2 Furious cuz he also directed that movie he said that when Tyrese Gibson was in the movie Baby Boy Tyrese Gibson's just so full of energy he's so energetic that there was times we have to calm Tyrese down, due to he be so hype. If you don't believe me you could hear it in the movie commentary from Baby Boy to Fast and Furious and four brothers which I recommend checking out too it's a good movie also directed he always say that Tyrese be so high he has to tell him to chill out a little bit this is not a bad thing to like shoot the movie Tyrese be messing up the scene cuz he be breaking character lol.
4. Another reason why Tupac was supposed to play the movie is because not just that John Singleton and Tupac we're close friends but Tupac did amazing job in Poetic Justice he wanted Tupac to be in this movie and any other movie he makes.
5. John Singleton water make a baby boy 2 but sadly never happen. The time he wanted make another Baby Boy movie not sure this is true but when they was going to make baby boy to it was the same year dat John Singleton had passed away.
If you wondering how do I know all these facts is because one is in the movie commentary in this film with the actors in A Commentary were Tyrese Snoop Dogg and the director John Singleton including with the behind-the-scenes extras. And some stuff mention outside of this movie like Tyrese when he was being interviewed on a radio show or anything like that.
Baby Boy 2 wouldn’t be the same without John Singleton anyways

This movie came out when my kids were very little. Watching this movie now, as the parent of adults (mostly sons) it hits totally different. One thing I've learned from hindsight is that you can't live your life for your kids forever. Your kids grow up, move on with their lives, create their own families, etc. If you have a healthy relationship with your children, they will want you to choose happiness and to not hold back your life because of them. Keep the reactions coming. You're doing great!

@@theman9048 that is mostly due to him not taking of the opportunity to get prepared. He had two kids and no job. Sometimes you have to push a baby bird out of the nest in order to force it to use its wings.

This is possible my favorite hood movie and then Boyz N Da Hood. This was June 2001. That was a crazy year. My mother was dying from brain cancer, Aaliyah died and 9/11 happened. That's how I remember that year so well. It was a tough one.
