Hey as a 9 year veteran on Roblox and a scripter on the platform, I would say learn the basics to programming like functions, variables, arrays, dictionaries, and basic math. These components will allow you to read any documentation on Roblox developer forum explaining all of the APIs like data saving and you will be able to understand the code as well as build onto it.
animation: become a film buff / cinephile scripting: practicing and morphine / studying building: get a degree in architecture modelling: be good at blender VFX artists: watch studio ufotable animes SFX artists: be a parrot GFX: photoshop
vfx for me was just ore-creation for this game called "REx:R". Every ore in the game is basically made of particles & it really helped me get off the ground with vfx because there's curators and a community that can help
A few years back when I wanted to learn Roblox scripting I ended up buying a copy of this book and it was fantastic. Thanks for recommending this book to a larger audience, it deserves more recognition!
I taught myself using the roblox docs website, I didn’t need video tutorials or a book. I learned how to code pretty well in about 3 months with this too.
@@nerdy8644 Bro, he only started making actual tutorials a month ago, i aint checking every ytber there is. Like if you just time travel two months back and look at his channel, he only has some videos on how to create certain mechanics. So what IS about alvinblox??
DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION OF THE BOOK! From the same author you can find his updated version of the book and if you're a kindle user you can even get it for free! Buying the old version will teach you incorrect practices and give you errors.
I bought the book, and even though I'm already an "advanced" scripter, I wanted to see it as it could inspire my friends. It's brilliant, even after 5 years of scripting, this book can still solidify my expertise and reinforce some other things. Appreciate it
a great playlist that helped me start to code was by CovertCode. For some reason he was the only one that had me understanding. A big part in learning is also experience. Try to do things in roblox studio without copying a playlist, make a challenge for yourself.
I just wanna learn the basics to Lua, so then I dont need to look at endless amounts of yt videos that suit my game, if I know lua fluently, then I won't need as many tutorials
You spent 5 minutes to say one thing: buy the book. Also, it always boils down to money. I do not want to spend money. Is there a way to learn this without spending money? Is it truly that elusive?
Well, if you don't want to spend money on a book the next best thing is watching RUclips tutorials. Good luck on your journey and thanks for the comment :]
You know all those beginner guides that are ''soo efficient and teach you everything''. Don't watch most of them. Learn how to handle roblox studio before watching what some random ''beginner'' things are. By the end of that tutorial, you will know barely anything, and even if you do know something you won't know how to execute it.
As a small roblox dev making a game called "Untitled Crossroads Games" after I made the game I found out that I had a scripting type of power, for all those roblox noobs out there, practice always makes perfect, so please practice, most small devs get lazy at practicing.
the problem about making games is not only scripting is enough sadly I only mastered scripting thus I cant make a good game wish I could learn animating so I can actually make a game
@solidracer7947 Animating is so much easier than scripting. I picked it up really fast and I still can't script anything. Just apply all your joints for your character with the Rig Editor and move the joints around. Just get a feel for it for awhile then actually make a simple wave or punch.
what I did after watching the first couple tutorials is just figuring out which methods/things I need, to make what I intend to do and if you just experiment from there u WILL learn fast. To learn you just gotta do it. (And instead of copying word for word from other scripts just go through the script and really make sure you understand what it does and what methods they use.. from on there you can make the script without copying word for word)
