David i am LDs too and while watching your video and your 47 years stories as evangelical who found the restored truth, my heart shouting with joy that the lord allow some of our brothers and sisters to come into another faith until they are prepared to come to the restored gospel and reinforce the truth through their trainings from other faith. Two things learned reinforced; 1. Other faith have truth but not complete. You know the bible better than most LDS but here you are teaching the restored gospel using the bible in so much sense and clearer than when you haven’t learned the restored gospel. The lord really prepared you for his purpose. We can never question the wisdom of heavenly father. You are a living testimony and you strengthened my faith. Thank you for your testimony.

@@truthbebold4009 is that so? I am an LDS but i haven’t heard about that teaching. I knew Jesus Christ is our saviour our older brother who was chosen to be a saviour for us all. I don’t know any other teachings from LDS that anyone could have been the chosen Saviour. Im not sure about that doctrine but i am sure we can all be a saviour when we help others or share the restored
Gospel to others. Everyone of us can be the saviour for our family, friends, others if that is what you mean by “saviour”?

@@truthbebold4009No, there is only one who could be Savior. Jehovah of the Old testament, Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the father. What David is saying is, hypothetically, as we are all children of God, IF and that's a big IF, one of us had been as Christ is, that person could have been the Messiah as they were of the same kind, being children of the same Father. But NO, not anyone could be Savior. Lucifer tried and was rejected. That is why he is the fallen Satan. He couldn't accept another as his savior.

The first few you gave us about the joy of your conversion and your fireside presentation were my favorite, but I think your spirit and true knowledge filled reply to “Jeff’s Hard Question” was my favorite! The fact that you are providing a powerful ministry from your trailer in Australia is a true miracle and proves to me that the Lord inspired people to create all this technology primarily for the use of godly men like you, though the world would scoff at such an assertion! I love John’s offer to have you join him in General Conference! David, it is so wonderful what you are doing. Your response is so intelligent and obviously inspired by the Holy Spirit. Also, you know the Bible so well that you understand it in a way that we as LDS don't, but we should study it as you have so we can understand it like you.
I served my mission in Central Florida and was often clobbered by anti-Mormons using the Bible against me. As an immature young man, tried to argue and failed miserably, so much so I had a serious faith crisis. I gained a proper testimony in the Book of Mormon that has become my foundation in everything else like Joseph Smith as a prophet, etc. Once I had myself straightened out I read the entire bible and focused my understanding on the New Testament and the ancient church. This helped me solidify my testimony since I don't see any other church, other than ours, follow the New Testament church so closely.
Thank you again for what you do. You are having a greater affect on people than I think you realize.

After all he was persucuted and his church when he ministered here in mortality, so of course it's happening now too. However truth will prevail and God himself is at the helm, so why should we fear! I read that Westminster Confession "47" years ago when I was on my mission in Europe. It hit my companion and I like a ton of bricks. It actually scared us. How cunning our fallen brother, Lucifer, is. That is a perfect description of him, literally. I do not want to worship him! This is why the restoration was necessary. With false beliefs like this embedded in the gospel, it is no longer the true gospel. Lets all pray for our brothers, like Apologia Jeff, that they may feel the love of God and have open hearts to hear the truth. Continued love and blessings.

Thank you David! In these situations Jeff controls the narrative and those conversing with him struggle as Jeff already knows where he’s going next. He’s studied it out so he stays in complete control as Satan likes to do. It’s actually pretty despicable. Plus, what we see are only the videos where he looks like he’s maintained control. He edits/cuts the rest. I’m with you in that he can’t defend the most basic fundamentals found in the Bible such as power/authority, apostles, prophets…etc, and he stays far from it. However, I think it hurts that sooo many younger people are completely deceived by his words which take them even further from finding the truth. That’s where I think it’s important to call Jeff out and defend the truth.

It's no wonder Joseph Smith never felt the spirit in any of those religions and asked God to guide him to the right one. I have enjoyed studying the New Testament this year in the ‘Come Follow Me’ program. While I was young, my parents would get us out of bed before school or work to read the scriptures. My dad loves the gospels and Acts of the Apostles so we regularly rotated the Book of Mormon and Bible readings. The Savior’s words are so comforting to me as I read them from the scriptures and as I listen to today’s Prophets and apostles testify of Jesus Christ. The spirit is the same, comforting, mentoring, empowering voice, with sometimes a ‘tough love’ way when I need to get my life back on track. I find it wonderful that the Spirit of the Lord can communicate with us just the way we need it if we are humble, teachable, and willing to follow the counsel given.
I am reminded of the verse in in Lehi’s vision of the Tree of Life where the worldly scoffers were chiding the believers pressing forward on the covenant path and it says “and we heeded them not.” Learning to just let it slide off my shoulders and do what the Lord has invited me to do so I can have the Holy Ghost more abundantly in my life is my goal. Once I let the adversary frazzle my nerves, get me confused, angry, or contentious then he already has me. I fall back into some of my old ways of being with others and I lose my peace. Not the way I want to be.
Thank you for guiding us through the verses of scripture in a way that those who are sincerely searching can understand through the confirmation of the Spirit. Elder Bednar gave a wonderful conference talk on this.

“In the beginning of what?” I would answer a sincere seeker of truth with a question. In the beginning of my life my children were not yet with me. In the beginning of my relationship with their father, they were not either. In the beginning of my childbearing, then I would be ready to say something like this question poses, as in *that* beginning I had with me my first born.
I guess I'm too busy still trying to learn how to better * live * the pure doctrine of Christ that I can't take time to fuss over seeming contradictions, really. I remember being so confused that God would tell Adam and Eve not to partake of fruit, then tell them to multiply and replenish the earth - but how could they know how or be physically developed for childbearing without partaking of the fruit? Why would God seem to ask contradicting, essentially opposing things of them? It took years until I realized by asking my question I had the beginning of the answer (beginning enough). I think that is sometimes why God tells us to ask.
I have been blessed to know Truth, and I still am working to put what I know into doing and being better at blessing others. I feel down on myself (too much) for seeming to disappoint so many with my many shortcomings. I love your prayer for Jeff, yet I have to wonder in what way he is truly filled by working to put self-doubt, second-guessing, and unbelief into the hearts of those who just want to learn to live lives more like Christ taught. It breaks my heart thinking how any actions or words I have put out in the world may have been reason for someone to lose faith - even the smallest piece of faith. So I imagine at some point Jeff with feel the torment of this. And your prayer just maybe what sustains him when he is faced with that.

Prophets make all the difference in helping us understand difficult passages in the scriptures. This might help with understanding the fire and brimstone mentioned in the Book of Mormon.
The phrase “lake of fire and brimstone” is repeatedly mentioned in the scriptures (Revelation 19:20; 20:10; 2 Nephi 9:16, 19, 26; 28:23; Jacob 3:11; 6:10; Mosiah 3:27; Alma 12:17; 14:14; D&C 76:36). This phrase is generally used to describe either the place that awaits the unrepentant individual after the Judgment or the mental anguish associated with sin.
In reference to the place that awaits those who are unrepentant, modern revelation states: “[The wicked] shall go away into the lake of fire and brimstone, with the devil and his angels” (D&C 76:36).
In reference to mental anguish, the Prophet Joseph Smith (1805-44) said: “A man is his own tormentor and his own condemner. Hence the saying, They shall go into the lake that burns with fire and brimstone. The torment of disappointment in the mind of man is as exquisite as a lake burning with fire and brimstone” (History of the Church, 6:314).
I love this channel so much! Thanks, David!
10 And according to the power of justice, for justice cannot be denied, ye must go away into that lake of fire and brimstone, whose flames are unquenchable, and whose smoke ascendeth up forever and ever, which lake of fire and brimstone is endless torment.

Hi David, to clarify your thought of people burning in fire and brimstone and how that seems somewhat contradictory to you. Let me share one scripture that brought me clarity on the subject. It's when Alma is teaching Zeezrom about spiritual death. In Alma 12:16-17 Alma says, "their torments shall be as a lake of fire and brimstone". So we are to understand that eternal separation of God and pondering upon our sins will be "as" a lake of fire, but not literally a fire. The best way to keep Durbin's nastiness to a minimum is to completely ignore him and never let him think that we take him seriously. If we respond, he will know we are bothered by his vicious attacks which is exactly what he wants. Don't give him what he wants. Completely ignore him always. I used to watch a little of Durbin's garbage content, and can tell everyone he has NOTHING NEW to bring to a serious dialog. Just same old same old same old nonsense.

It has been said that the gospel of Jesus Christ is “simply beautiful and beautifully simple.” The world is not. It is complicated, complex, and filled with turmoil and strife. We are blessed as we exercise care not to allow complexity, so common in the world, to enter into the way we receive and practice the gospel.

It is impossible to discuss modern day revelations with a person that does not believe in modern day revelation.. So, what it comes down to is whether someone believes in Sola Scriptura or not. And here it becomes interesting, sicne even James White, the head of Calvenists Evangelism, taught that Sola Scripture was not taught within the Bible, but was just evolving during that time, meaning, the idea of Sola Scriptura must have been a revelation that came after the canon got closed, which contradicts itself though, since Cavlenists do not believe in any further revelation after the Canon was closed..

That’s such a simple answer. Here are two explanations (both the same but from different people) that easily dispel the trinitarian notion of homoousios:
“"John 1:1 should be rigorously translated "the word was with the God [=the Father], and the word was a divine being." (Rev. John L. McKenzie, Dictionary of the Bible)
The word "God" in John 1:1b is "ton Theon" meaning THE God. The Greek: "ton" means "the" but is often left untranslated.
The second "God" in John 1:1c is simply "theos" without the "ton". Meaning "A god" or "divine being".
Yes, it is a problem with the translation. You cannot be with yourself, and neither was God.”
    ------------------
“In John 1:1-2 we read, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." In English, to say that Christ, the Word, was with God and was God could be understood in either the LDS sense (two beings perfectly united in one Godhead) or in the trinitarian sense (two persons in one Being) or arguably in other senses as well, such as Modalism (two manifestations of the same person). However, the Greek text helps us sort through these possibilities a little better. The first and third occurrence of the word "God" in these verses comes from Greek ton Theos, meaning THE God, while the second occurrence is simply Theos, meaning God. The English translation could be rendered, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with The God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with The God." There is no suggestion that the Word and The God are the same Being. One divine being, Christ, was WITH another divine being, THE God. As LDS doctrine teaches, Christ is God, but is not the same Being as THE God, who is the Father. (Thanks to Eugene Seaich for the information about the Greek text.)

So you see, it’s a simple omission of the Greek word “ton” which makes a world of difference. Many such issues belie the Bible unfortunately.

Great job David, as always. You are a living miracle.
BTW, as to why the Book of Mormon writers seem to be lacking in understanding regarding some things. It is quite simple. They didn't have the additional light and knowledge that we have now. They had the brass plates, which would have been likely a pretty reliable version of the OT up to that point in time, but even with a better version of the OT, still lacking in much revelation no doubt.
Apparently Father has made various pieces of the puzzle available to various prophets throughout history all over the planet based on the various situations the people of those places and times were dealing with. (BTW, there are undoubtedly more Book of Mormon-like bodies of scriptures waiting to come forth from other ancient peoples in other times and places in history.) Apparently, only in these latter days has the Father allowed all that has been revealed here and there over time to be made available at the same time and place. And even that which we presently have is still a very small part of the overall puzzle. So much more to come!! (AoF9)
Also, for the rest of your audience, please keep in mind that no one opposing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (anti-mo, ex-mo, whatever) has anything to offer better than the paradigm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which indeed incorporates all truth. It is a paradigm of all truth. We accept all truth wherever it comes from. The light of Christ permeates throughout the universe spreading truth all over the place for all willing to sincerely seek it and humbly receive and apply it. As such, there is an abundance of light and knowledge out there in many forms. We embrace it all. We believe all things (AoF13).
Further, there is no better paradigm than the paradigm that we are spirit children of Heavenly Parents from before the Creation and we chose Christ from before the Creation and that all of those born into this world are in fact our brothers and sisters and fellow followers of Christ (even if they have forgotten about that fact for the time being) and that we are presently eternal spirits housed in a mortal shell for purposes of growth. We didn't come here to be saved. We already chose Christ from before the Creation. Salvation from physical death and spiritual death in this realm is already locked in from before the Creation because we kept our first estate. (Sure, we might have to pay for our own sins if we reject Christ in this life, and that will be painful, but it will have an end (D&C 19).) We came here to grow via the hard things of a fallen world filled with adversity as part of our eternal progression as eternal beings and, thankfully, Christ made all that possible. But the goal was not to come here to merely be saved (anyone that has lost a child before they graduated from their state of innocence can attest as those dear souls didn’t need saving at all), but to go forward in our progression to exhalation after the resurrection to an immortal and perfect body in which our eternal spirit will be permanently fused and we will no longer be mere spirit, but perfected beings.

    • @TheHappyNarwhals
      @TheHappyNarwhals Год назад

Of course we came here to be saved- we couldn’t do it on our own. Even little children are saved and need saving from the effects of the fall even though they are alive through Christ. I know that is not all there is like you said we grow and learn and gain light but just wanted to comment that the only way we are saved is through HF plan which means we fall vine to earth and our sins are paid for by Jesus Christ the eternal father. (I.e. saved through Christs atonement. I’m guessing we are saying the same thing overall

    • @DaremoDaremo
      @DaremoDaremo Год назад

@@TheHappyNarwhals Once we are here in this realm, yes, we are now subject to the Fall, which means we are subject to physical death and spiritual death. However, that isn't the purpose of the game, per se, just conditions of the game (calibration, settings, etc.)
That is, like I wrote, we already chose Christ prior to coming to this realm. We had already accepted Christ as our Savior prior to birth. Hence, our purpose in coming to this realm wasn't to be saved, we already had that locked in. Our purpose was to continue in our eternal progression, and it just so happens that we need Christ's help to make it through successfully.
If you were to run a super marathon of 10,000 miles through various terrains and weather conditions, for example, your goal isn't to get hurt and helped by someone, your goal is to run and complete the marathon. However, you know that when you run a marathon like that you will need need help, and a lot of it. So, yeah, you certainty want to lock in that help. Which we did. But, that was not your purpose. Your purpose was to go through hard things and grow through that experience.

You may both be right in some ways . We came here to progress . But we did vote for Jesus Christ to be our Savior as we trusted him to do it . But save us from what exactly ? Remember the scripture of Jesus did not go through with his atonement we all would have become subjects to devils . To be like them forever and ever . Remember that one ? Think about that . We weren’t locked in. What did Jesus save us from ? From death and hell and the grave . When our savior begged for the cup to be taken away it would not make him any less but if Jesus did not go through with it what would have happened to us ? Where would we be . Death and hell would have us . Even though they spit on him beat him mocked him tortured him he sufferth it for us for his loving kindness for all of us and for his fathers will . So yes we definitely came here to be saved too.

The key to John 1:1 is the phrase “in the beginning” this phrase is calling our attention to Genesis 1:1 just like Dave said
The pearl of Great Price describes Heavenly Father creating everything in the spirit first, and then The Word transforming everything created spiritually, from spirit into physical
Heavenly Father and The Word, together, in the beginning, creating… one creating with spirit material, the other transforming that same spirit material into physical material, through the use of water, called the deep, filled with light
    Just like scripture says…
*as a side… I find it meaningful that apologetic ministers go to missionaries, or members to ask these questions, rather than an Apostle or General Authority, or better yet someone like Bruce Porter… its pretty telling

I’m a fellow Latter-Day Saint, but I must say that what you say above is incorrect. I know it will come as a great surprise to you, but Moses chapters 2 and 3 make it perfectly clear that Christ participated with the Father in the spiritual creation of all things, including the spiritual creation of the spirit sons and daughters of God. In Moses 2, after the spiritual creation of all things except for mankind, the Father says to his Only Begotten Son,
“26 And I, God, said unto mine Only Begotten, which was with me from the beginning: LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE, after our likeness; and it was so. And I, God, said: Let them have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 And I, God, created man in mine own image, in the image of mine Only Begotten created I him; male and female created I them. (Moses 2)
And then in Moses 3 we are informed that the creation of mankind that was set forth in Moses 2:26 and 27, was the spiritual creation of mankind and not the physical creation. And thus we read…
4 And now, behold, I say unto you, that these are the generations of the heaven and of the earth, when they were created, in the day that I, the Lord God, made the heaven and the earth,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. For I, the Lord God, created all things, of which I have spoken, spiritually, before they were naturally upon the face of the earth. For I, the Lord God, had not caused it to rain upon the face of the earth. And I, the Lord God, had created all the children of men; and not yet a man to till the ground; FOR in HEAVEN CREATED I THEM; AND THERE WAS NOT YET FLESH UPON THE EARTH, NEITHER IN THE WATER, NEITHER IN THE AIR. (Moses 3)
Therefore when the the apostle John informs us that,
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; AND WITHOUT WAS NOT ANY THING MADE THAT WAS MADE. (John 1)
it means that the Pearl of Great Price is in full agreement with John 1:1-3, for truly Christ was a participant with his Father in the creation of all things, both spiritual and physical, including the spirits of mankind. Thanks to the Book of Moses, Jeff’s question can be effectively answered by the Latter-Day Saints without having to resort to strained interpretations that would leave him feeling vindicated. Christ did indeed “create all things, and without him was not anything made that was made.”

I do not agree with you . If Jesus truly is our elder brother and we are all spirit children of our Heavenly Parents and even Lucifer was a spirit brother who rebelled against the Fathers plan then no Jesus did not create our spirits . Now you are talking like evangelicals . Which would make God and Jesus like one person . If we are all striving to become as God and love his kind of life ?? We are to have our own spiritual children . Organize them and then create or organize a world for them to also grow and test on and be perfect and do the same thing over and over again also . Then no Jesus did not create our spirits nor his own nor Lucifer’s spirit either as we are ALL heavenly Fathers spirit children created in his image . Though the Father and the Son are in the exact image and likeness Jesus did not create our spirits too. Jesus is our older brother not our Heavenly Father .

In the beginning was the Word (Christ) and the Word was with God (Heavenly Father) (for all six of the creation days described in Genesis 1) and the Word was God (he is the second member of the Godhead)
In the beginning (of the six days of creation) God (Christ, the second member of the Godhead) created the heaven (the expanse/outer space) and the earth (our temporary home)
John is his scripture is explaining to the saints of his day, that Christ is the creator God in Genesis, and that he was with another God (the Father) during that process, and that he is like this other God (the Father) and that there is a Godhead of separate and distinct individuals, one a Father, and the other his Son
Which for the people of John’s day, was mind blowing
John 1:1, is calling our attention, and directing us over to Genesis 1:1, which for us as Latter Day Saints, should also call our attention and direct us over to the Pearl of Great Price, because they all go together with each other… Creation, Christ, Heavenly Father, the Godhead, and the plan itself, can only be rightly understood with all of these scriptures joined together
This was my point in my original post, I hope that I have cleared up any misunderstanding in my understanding of scripture, that I may have accidentally created in my original post…

@@lindamartinez7006 You are either uninformed or fail to understand the scriptures. John 1 makes it abundantly clear that God created all things through Christ, and there is NOTHING created that wasn’t created by Christ:
2 The same (Christ) was in the beginning with God.
3All THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM; AND WITHOUT HIM WAS NOT ANY THING MADE THAT WAS MADE. (John 1:2-3)
The mistaken notion that the Father created anything without the participation of Son, including the creation of our spirits, is incorrect and contradicts Moses 2 and 3 that clearly testifiy the Only Begotten Son of God participated in the creatiin of our spirits:
26 And I, God, said unto mine Only Begotten, which was with me from the beginning: LET US make man in our image , after our likeness; and it was so… (Moses 2: 26).
… and then Moses 3 makes it abundantly clear that the creation of mankind set forth in Moses 2:26 was the spiritual creation of our spirits and not a physical creation:
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. For I, the Lord God, created all things, of which I have spoken spiritually, before they were naturally upon the face of the earth. And I, the Lord God, had created ALL THE CHILDREN OF MEN; and not yet a man to till the ground; FOR IN HEAVEN CREATED I THEM; and THERE WAS NOT YET FLESH UPON THE EARTH, neither in the water, neither in the air; (Moses 3:5)
But lest you experience an excess of cognitive dissonance, you need to understand that just because Christ participated in the creation of our SPIRITS doesn’t mean that we aren’t also the literal spiritual offspring of a Heaveny Father and a Heavenly Mother. But the simple and undeniable fact of the matter is that without Christ our spirits could have never been created because Christ is the Word of God’s power by which he creates ALL THINGS. In fact, the Father couldn’t have even begun the process of creation without the Son at his side, functioning as his creative agent. Remeber what the Book of Mormon teaches, “If there be no Christ, be no God.” In other words, God the Father would not be able to function in his role as the supreme creator without the Son at his side, working together with him in perfect unity to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

I appreciate in these videos, that before putting the scriptures in context, to synchronize them with restored doctrine; you first put the Church's attackers in context.

This explanation of God sounds more like the Nicene Creed than anything else

When God told JS that he was to join no church because they are an abomination unto him...why? because the very nature of who God is, was taken away and replaced by a big nothing. "Many said have we not cast out devils in your name? " I never knew you..... it all makes more sense when you realize just how far Christ church fell before the restoration

I can see how this might be a hard question for members. So I know there's more scriptures than this but I'll briefly give bible references for showing that the Father is not Jehovah. Proving that Christ and the Father aren't the same is pretty easy in the new testament if you're not already brain washed with the trinity, but you can actually appeal to the old testament too.
    Psalms 110
1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
These are two distinct beings, both Lord's but one has capital letters. To find out who is being described, we can go to the new Testament.
    1 Corinthians 15
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
    Acts 2
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. 34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
So here in these scriptures we see the nature of the relationship between the father and the son. Christ ruled at his father's side, even before he was born, and does so now until the end shall come when, having subjected all things unto himself, he will deliver up the kingdom to his Father, presenting it to him spotless and complete. He reigns and must reign until he has accomplished that "And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all." Then all the glory and honor shall be unto the Father whose kingdom it is, and Jesus and those whom he has redeemed out of the world will inherit it (Romans 8:16-17). Christ does all of this with the authority of the godhead. It is not incorrect to say that the Word was WITH God and WAS God. Christ was both with God and is part of the godhead. He acts in the name of the father, ruling until the kingdom is prepared to be presented in its perfected state before the perfect Eternal Father of Heaven. The father is orchestrating everything because it's His plan and His power. Christ is the Word of his power, carrying out the actions. In Spanish the "word" is translated as "verbo" or verb which is a better interpretation because it describes Christs role as the actor or carrying out the actions of the plan of the Father, representing Him and giving all glory to Him. Soon he will be finished and present what he has carried out to the father.
