My ftiend thanks a lot for this video, i finally fixed my curtis controller (missed ground on potentiometer)!

For some controllers, (Curtis 1204-410) the Pot /Throttle needs to vary 6K ohm - 0 ohm. Example, Club Car DS. Prior to pressing the Go peddle, the (MCOR) throttle will read 6K ohm.

I have a question for you maybe you can help, I have scratched my head on this until it’s raw, I have a 2001 echo golf cart that’s 36 volts, to be clear the cart hasn’t worked since a repair shop tried to diagnose it. In the beginning the cart worked as expected and would just shut off at random, at some point the controller may have gotten damaged from the repair shop because I replaced it with a new 1205-117 and the cart started moving again I fount the random shutting off issue to be the 4 wire plug from the its, now here is the main issue I can’t figure out, I have 12 volts from the controller to the input wire on the its but the same exact voltage coming out of the it’s back to the controller and the unit tries to lake off at full speed when the solenoid engages, I replace the it’s with 3 different ones, what am I missing? I call myself tracing all the wiring based on the schematic I found online and it all seems correct, I bypassed the its with a pot 0-5 ohm and it work as expected

I watch this a hundred time have the exact same motor controller trying to figure out how to hook to a 48 volt forklift motor. How can I Google the correct schematics? Or can I email you? I do need that better potentiometer you have. The better one.

I couldn't even hear you when the motor was running. Unreal.

Yep I could have done better looking back over this video. Motors noisy and I should have draw a schematic to make it easy to see.

Can you not reverse the blue and white wire on the potentiometer an the current should reverse and it will not take off wide open upon connection.

    • @steveclunn8165

Blue and white wire are just looking at resistance so it doesn't matter how you plug them in it doesn't reverse or change what the controller is doing. There are a few different controller settings One is zero being off and 5K being full on and the other is 5K being off and zero being full on. Usually the first is used I think I needed to rewire the throttle box on this the potentialometers have three wires or solder points and you use the middle and then either the top or the bottom depending on how you want it set

You do not show in your videos where the wires are connected to.

Am I crazy to think that the potentiometer wires were installed backwards ......

Its a 2 wire pot box so they work either way
3 wire pot box have to be exactly right. The key on terminal is on top or on bottom and must be right

Hey Steve. I need some clarification. Where do all those white test leads go? Couldn't quite make it out from the video. Have same controller in hand. Need help!...

For some reason I don't get notifications when someone ask a question. The white wire that goes to the Spade terminal goes to the B+. On Curtis controllers it is the top Spade terminal but on logic systems it's the bottom of the three. Usually two Spades are close together which go to the throttle box and the one Spade that is a little further apart goes to the Battery Plus as a key switch. Thanks for watching

Hi im from the philippines..do you have a vedio or diagram for cortis conroller 72 v m1205 model..how can i test run the control ?thank you..

    • @steveclunn8165
      @steveclunn8165  2 года назад

There are a few different types this is a 0 to 5Volt throttle. The other model is 0 to 5000 ohms for the throttle. Not sure how you tell one from the other.

Have you figured out everything you needed? If so i might need some help testing mine. how did you hook everything up? iwant to bench test my curtis and see if it works

Staffordracing758 I have the exact same 48 volt motor controller. The thing is baffling to me. I thought it would be like hooking up my VCR RCA cables.
