  • Javan Bernakevitch, from British Columbia Permaculture, helps to wrap up Oregon State University's free Permaculture course (open.oregonstat...) and he provides some direction about how to take this information and do something useful with it.

    Brilliant course, thank you!
Just please consider, that the background music can be very disturbing, at least for HSPs. And it does not really serve any function. If you find some background noise essential for any reason, some very dimmed nature sounds or very gentle hanpan would do. Thank you! 🙏😎

Thanks for this Javan, it's nice to have this wrap up after the course. The number of possibilities can be a bit overwhelming when you're very inspired but don't have a specific goal- or problem to solve yet. This "personal PDC" guidance gives me a framework to further explore. I'll Start with small steps ;)

I'm wondering if anyone knows of resources for consulting someone who is a permaculture expert before I buy some land. Any links to such a person would be helpful

I think at this point it is valuable to think of a critique of permaculture, so we can think of how the system and movement can evolve.
The history of permaculture is highly individualized, there is a short-list of permaculture gurus that all offer expensive design courses and sell popular books. Perhaps it is the cost of entry into Permaculture that is keeping communities of color out. Whatever the reasons, permaculture seems to be exclusive, sharing the "whiteness" of other niches in the alternative food system movement.

This video is part of a FREE intro to Permaculture course which to date had had over 24,000 students from over 100 countries in the world. The next course runs in May, 2017. We are working to make Permaculture information available to everyone: open.oregonstate.edu/courses/permaculture/
