It's a brazilian developer. We don't have much love here when creating games, the CEO had to sell his car to fund the development and it's a love letter to all classic fighting games, we're all proud for his success!
Not only that but previously he was a lead dev on the game Trajes Fatais (Suits of Fate in english or something), the game who basically destroyed the trust in crowdfunding games here in Brazil. Basically one of the devs (not the one from Pocket Bravery) just stole the money funded for the game and no one got more than a shity demo. Glad that the team for TRAF disbanded and we got something good after all of that
Been playing the demo non stop with my younger brother, charming pixel art, fantastic animation, and intuitive fighting game mechanics. Highly recommend this one!
1. Agree about the references though I never had a Neo-Geo but did play the utterly brilliant "Battle Arena Toshinden" on the game-boy (back in the day!) with similar 'Chibi' art and pulled off some cool combos on that so Pocket Bravery is right up my street in that respect. As with that game: Cool graphics, cool music, cool combos and brilliant fun gameplay in a small package! 2. Agree about the sentiment "this was made for Steam Deck" so hopefully it will hit it along with a release on Switch later in September but equally why not also on iOS/iPadOS ?! Would fit like a glove on those platforms too! 3. Agree about this game is fun and playable for casuals or pros. It's refreshing seeing a new voice consider this game if you've already seen the best players in online comps and the outrageous combos and super match-ups they've already been demonstrating this game is capable of! High, high level Meta- that'll probably take me years of dedicated training to master... Given there's already a good competitive scene, the quality of life additions eg story mode, accessibility, training mode and top quality pixel graphics and great music scores for each stage with a decent 13 playable characters for an indie studio in this genre is mind-blowingly good imho... I've watched a few of your vids and followed Pocket Bravery for a few years: Excellent review and this game imho is going to be "Indie Game Of The Year" for an especially punishingly hard genre to break into. This is the kind of game Capcom or Nintendo would love to have produced.
I love watching reviews from casual players. It's nice to hear from what's realistically the majority voice of the playerbase on what they like abt fighting games.
@IDreamofIndie as a "sweaty" player in most games, it's really nice to hear from other demographics for games. I think the more skill focused community gets really wrapped up in themselves and forgets that devs have way more playerbases to appease than just them. Helps me appreciate other aspects of a game as well. Keep up the good work, you've got a new sub with me!
I'm glad i randomly came across this review, this looks so cool and with all the features of it that you gave the run down on I cant help but want to give it a go. I really appreciate fighters that give a good bit of single player content and unlockables.
I had no idea what this game was supposed to be, but it looks rather charming from what I've seen here. The presentation looks nice and it sounds rather fun from what you've described. I'm going to put this on my wish list because I think I could use some more bravery in my pocket.
Man; the fact that the story mode can allow you to fight multiple opponents at once (like a beat em up) makes me wish there was a full beat em up mode with coop. Either way, I am looking foward for the Switch release!
This game is a tribute to the Brazilian FGC and have references and inspirations in the classics of 90s. This Mingmai wake up line for example, she says "como um gato (like a cat)", and is a reference from a TV program joke line. Let's make our Pockets more Bravery.
It's pronounced "hee-MEH-nah" , a Mexican variation of Jimena of Spanish origin, perhaps even more common than the original now. Either way, it's a VERY common name in any Spanish speaking country. Great review.
Definitely was glad to give them my $ for this. I'm enjoying the game. I do hope we get a Physical Release of an Ultimate Complete Edition of the game with all the DLC's on the Disc.
You know what would be really dope? If some of the new DLC characters were crossovers from the new Double Dragon Gaiden. With the chibi art style, they’d fit right in with this.
Esse jogo em um campeonato na Evo, pode ser muito legal de assistir futuramente. Tem muito potencial, um jogo muito bonito com pixels art estilo retrô, pocket fighter.
I need to get around to playing this one. One problem, THERE'S SO MANY FIGHTING GAMES COMING OUT THAT KEEPING TRACK OF EM ALL IS SO DAMN TOUGH!! It's definitely going on my list though. Us fighting game fans are eating good.
Why are we acting like that? Wasn't Maverick and his girl from Top Gun one and Eddie Murphy and Arsenio hall from coming to America. On that 1 stage, we're just blowing past that.
I want to check this out, but I know the milquetoast backgrounds will bore me. They aren't Blade Strangers or Sam Sho VI bad, just bland. Sorry to be a downer. Thanks for the vid.

Hype to see an indie fighting game getting reviewed, hope you guys look in to more fighting games in the future
We always love getting them on the channel, wish we saw more!

Awesome, thank you!
This game is a beautiful passion project, and I encourage everyone to play it!
Really hoping this game gets some love, not a lot of games coming out these days have this much effort put into them
Amazing game!
Good to hear you are liking it!

Make those pockets brave!
While your pocket isn't brave enough, you can try the free demo available =]
#Like!! Thanks for showing a brazilian indie game such deep appreciation, shoutout from Brazil!!

Really amazing game with sooo much love. A love letter to FGC.

Great review.
Nice thanks!!
The game announcer pronounces as she-Meh-nah
@@vintagevideogamenights2923The letter X in Portuguese is pronounced as Sh. The announcer speaks in the Brazilian Portuguese way.

This looks dope, may need to try when the 2023 binge of AAA releases and ground breaking indies dries up, there's too much LMFAO
It's really cool!
Would love to see this on the switch. Played the demo on pc and it is great
It's coming in May I believe. I just pre ordered a switch copy yesterday 3/20

that's a possiblity, they managed to get "Sho" from "Breakers".
That's a pretty sweet idea ha!

It would be cool to see it at EVO!
Ok, I'm convinced.
This is the third video I watched saying good things about this game.
I'll try it on my steam deck and see if it works now.
A nice surprise on fighting games.
I'm loving it.
And eager for console versions and crossplay.

It's playable on the steam deck if you change the proton version to experimental.
Can’t wait until the release for consoles. First day buy for me!
