- A quick video showing some of the pinstriping and silver leafing techniques used on this skateboard deck that is going to The Dallas Autorama to be auctioned of at The Great Texas Panel Jam. All money raised will go to the Scottish Rite Childrens Hospital. This skateboard was flaked and painted by Carlton Eppes. All leaf work and pinstriping was done by me, by hand.
awesome details
Thanks
Looks great whoever gets it will be happy for sure a bad piece of art
Do the different colors of tape have any significance? Like, is the green tape different than the yellow tape?
It is mostly using what I have. The yellow and green tapes have different strength adhesive. The orange vinyl tape is flexible for curves.
How do you get such a clean line on your taping? When I do it I always seem to get rough edges and bleed throughs. Would love to see a video on taping techniques
I've found it has to do with how smooth your surface is and how well you push the tape down
I covered it in a previous video, but it has been some time back. Might be time for a new one.
Did you brush on the 2K clear??
Yep
Really!?!
I’ve been looking for a brush on clear besides the OneShot stuff.
What brand etc?
@Hotrodmonk55 I will have to look. I talked to the local automotive paint supply store and ask for the.slowest drying affordable one they have. I designate certain brushes to only that. Clean with lacquer thinner.
Local master here uses Axalta Imron 500s clear. He brushes it on without the activator in it so it dries slow. But of course they don’t make it anymore. :-(
Looks amazing but no one is going to want to ride it and ruin it.
Correct. Lots of people collect custom boards from different artists. I talked to a guy today who claims to have around $300 custom painted boards in his collection.
