    I would be thankful if you give numerical example for how to relate the expecting with the average

      Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add it to my "to do" list. In short though, technically the term "average" refers to the "time/sample average of a typical realisation of a random process", whereas the term "expectation" refers to the weighted integral over the probability density function of a random variable.     Sir, regarding the swimming incident, why do we take the time gaps instead of the time taken by a participant and define as average when the sum of gaps is divided by total time.

      Could you please do some videos regarding two random variables, joint probability function, conditional CDF,PDF and functions of two random variables. You might be busy with your work but if you can look into this even if takes some time, it is greatly appreciated.Thank you

      Sorry, I should have been clearer on that. The "total" in the video (in the denominator of "avg") is the total number of samples taken, not the total of all the time differences.
