'A 7 minute trailer to a 20 year mission'
Tomek Bagiński’s AMBITION, starring Aidan Gillen (GAME OF THRONES) and Aisling Franciosi (THE FALL), plays a key part in supporting the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Rosetta mission (www.esa.int/rosetta).
The short film tells the story of one of the most important space exploration endeavours of this decade. Just as Gillen’s enigmatic Master encourages Franciosi’s Apprentice to seek out the key to life amidst a rugged alien landscape, ESA has been on a decade-long ambitious journey of its own, to unlock the mysteries of a comet and the origins of our Solar System with its Rosetta spacecraft, hundreds of millions of kilometres from Earth.
AMBITION complements the ongoing communication about Rosetta and adds a “human dimension” to the scientific and technological achievements of the mission, which include curiosity, drive and ambition.

People say men can't cry. Then why am I in tears of joy at watching this? Wonderful mini film for a wonderous mission!
Not only was this film a great way to show the point of the Rosetta mission, it was also a marvelous work of science fiction. Oh, if only we could see more from the mind of this film's creators! Such an amazing future universe it would be!

Here we go, from what I understand the man behind this (Tomek Bagiński) is now an executive producer of un upcoming huge Netflix show "The Witcher" and hist studio Platige Images is responsible for the CGI and stuff there. Let's see.
The Witcher was fantastic. I love this narrative and democratic way to help people understand space missions. What’s even cooler about this is we don’t know how far this is in the future, and it’s feasible that this is a virtual reality world or a far-future world where they can control the environment around them through nanobot fog. (Or it’s just supposed to look like the force awakens)
I hereby nominate Littlefinger for the Westerosi Space Program.
Can this PLEASE become a full length movie? I can see so many ways this base idea could be used.

Po tym pokazie umiejętności zarówno aktorów, ludzi od efektów specjalnych jak i samego Tomka Bagińskiego wzrosła mi chęć na obejrzenie Wiedźmina, pełnometrażowego - czekamy Tomku, oby Wiedźmin był równie świetny jak ten short a będzie arcydziełem! :)
Powiedziałbym, że pokaz umiejętności tylko jednego aktora.
W przypadku filmu o Wiedźminie kluczowy będzie właśnie dobór odpowiednich aktorów i zebranie odpowiedniego budżetu. Jednak bardziej niż filmu pełnometrażowego marzy mi się serial, który rozdepcze Grę o Tron w drobny pył ;)
klauzer16 może jeśli film będzie miazgą, to dostanie kasy na serial stanie się formalnością i Bagiński potraktuje ów film jako prolog serialu... marzenie :)
Człowieku... Od kiedy to gra aktorska dwóch ludzi z krótkometrażówki ma przełożenie na grę aktorską dziesięć razy większej liczby innych aktorów z dłuższej produkcji...? Przestań być zaślepionym fanbojem.
Kolejna rzecz to taka że Wiedźmin byłby jak Game of Thrones z HBO. Czyli aktorzy z krwi i kości, grający w realnych plenerach a nie na grinskrinie. Ambition to film gdzie większość czasu zajmuje CGI, co w przypadku Wiedźmina nie będzie mogło mieć miejsca.
Więc, logiczne patrząc, nie ma żadnego powiązania między Ambition a Wiedźminem, żeby się cieszyć lub uważać że p. Bagiński sobie poradzi.

A fantastic small film - better than some of the big Hollywood blockbusters, not least because part of the story is based in reality! Looks amazing, love the unique nanotech style and a great way to help bring the mission to wider public attention!
And what an achievement that we actually did it, that we actually landed on a comet! A huge achievement not just for ESA, but for mankind!
Wyczuwam w filmie klimat starych opowiadań sci-fi z "Fantastyki" i nie tylko. Aż poczułam zapach starej gazety. Plakaty to już w ogóle przywołują mnóstwo wspomnień, Bardzo podoba mi się muzyka, która u Bagińskiego zwykle jest mocnym elementem, według mnie wspaniale wybiera on twórców. Byłoby cudownie, gdyby powstały dłuższe kawałki z tematem "Water". Co do gry aktorskiej - odpowiada mi, wpasowuje się w wykreowaną rzeczywistość, nie wątpiłam w nią ani chwili. Po prostu akceptuję ten film w całości i przyjmuję go z ogromną wdzięcznością, bo wszystko świetnie się zgrało i stworzyło niezwykły świat. O efektach specjalnych chyba nie muszę nic mówić - Platige, i wszystko jasne. Nurtuje mnie uroda aktorki - cały czas miałam wrażenie, że skądś ją kojarzę, ale okazało się, że nie widziałam z nią żadnego filmu.
Obawy rodzaju wiedźmińskiego mnie także trzymają, ale wierzę, że skoro Bagiński tak dobrze wyczuwa "istotę" różnych opowieści, to nie pozwoli sobie na porażkę. Pewnie ma świadomość presji, jaką za sobą niesie produkcja tego filmu i postara się jak najlepiej zreallizować całość.
Zresztą nawet, jesli film będzie dopracowanym w każdym calu arcydziełem i tak po premierze znajdą się osoby dosadnie wyrażające swoje niezadowolenie. To nieuniknione, więc ekipa "Wiedźmina" po protu powinna dać z siebie wszystko tak, żeby była usatysfakcjonowana swoją pracą. :)
I saw this in 2014, and it still gives me chills 8 years later.
I watched and rewatched this movie a hundred times, and every single time I'm amazed like a child discovering something really interesting for the first time. Thank you for this short production, it is my favourite inspirational movie :)

Wiedźmin będzie dłuższy, będzie wymagał bardziej rozwiniętej fabuły, dialogów i ogólnie interakcji bohaterów, będzie wymagał wielu lokacji z średniowiecznym stylu i nie będzie wymagał nawet 1/10 ilość CGI, która została pokazana tutaj. Ambition nie ma w sobie niczego co wskazuje na potencjalny sukces Wiedźmina.

a na jakim polskim filmie ostatnio byłeś w kinie?
cYnik999 Byłem na Kamieniach na szczaniec, Półpolskiej Bitwie pod Wiedniem i Mieście 44 (chyba najlepszym filmie polskim ostatnich lat). W TV luknąłem na słabego Hansa Klosssa, a do komedii boję się nawet zaglądać. Dramaty oglądam czasami, generalnie stoją na wysokim poziomie, ale jest ich zdecydowanie za dużo i już nimi rzygam. Strasznie brakuje mi filmów fantasy i S-F. Niedługo tak z ciekawości zamierzam obejrzeć Sępa.
no niestety polskie kino nigdy nie stało SF czy fantasy i raczej stać nie będzie. Z oczywistych względów. Dramatów jest dużo (w zasadzie tylko proporcjonalnie dużo), ale to zdecydowanie mocna strona polskiego kina i choćby ze względu na nie, nie można mówić, że polskie kino jest do dupy. Jeśli ktoś oczekuje w Polsce holiłudu i czerpania z niego wzorców, to faktycznie może czuć zawód. Doceniajmy polską szkołę i nie oczekujmy, że będzie taka jak zachodnia.
Ja juz dawno, lol.. Kino to nie tylko GFX I FXy.. od conajmniej 3 lat Polska sie ogarnia.. Liczy sie tylko KINO i INTERNET
Patrząc na ten film sądzę że produkcja gier i filmów to tylko dwie rzeczy spośród wielu, dzięki którym o Polsce będzie przez najbliższych kilka lat bardzo głośno... :) Dziękuję panie Tomku! Dziękuje Platige Image!

As much it was planned, there was a huge luck factor involved. Back in a day no one couldn't tell for sure. Cmon, failed missions tend to end up at the corner of the backyard, so to speak. Regardless of the success rate in case of failure in this importance of mission, ESA, NASA and the rest of the space agencies around the world won't really critizise it out that loud. But it worked out. The mission was totally succesful. goddamit.
This is absolutely amazing. This generation will have feelings about the Rosetta mission, similar to the feelings previous generations had about landing on the Moon. "We fall and we pick ourselves back up."
This is one of the best video that provokes wonder and it will always be one of the best videos in my life. A huge comet inside the billions we are a huge change a huge message that will influence our decision and vision of what is around us.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the project. This work is excellent, exciting, sensitive and yet strong. And of course, better than most feature film of the genre.
I bet you guys could make an amazing Avatar (The Last Airbender or Legend of -Katara- (Korra) movie. Much better than that Shayamallowmellon shit.

Spokojnie Bagiński z ESA mogą się brać za stworzenie w tej koncepcji filmu pełnometrażowego, ten mix Sci-fi z dokumentem jest wręcz niesamowity. Przy okazji zarobili by pewnie na kolejną ambitną misję :P Terraformowanie jakiejś martwej skały gdzieś daleko w kosmosie inspirowane misjami i odkryciami w naszych czasach - kto wie, może faktycznie w przyszłości będą traktować naszą cywilizację jak my starożytnych Egipcjan, którzy mimo skrajnie prymitywnej technologii byli w stanie pozostawić po sobie inspirujące rzeczy, w każdym razie mam jeszcze taką nadzieję...
