    Beautiful work. Can't say enough how cool that turned out. And I smiled a bit as I watched you work standing on boards, a broken tool and shavings all over a small place.

    you're an amazing craftsman bro. If you haven't already you may want to look into making custom wooden boards. What you've done with some scrap pine is pretty amazing to say the least. Id be interested in seeing how it surfed and also what the final weight was. I was born and raised in San Diego and have surfed my whole life. I know people that would pay really good money for custom boards like this assuming they also preformed as good ss they looked. Awesome work, that thing would be epic to surf.

      Thanks for the feed back bro, really appreciate it! I haven't surfed it yet cause the water temp is still to cold for my wet suits but I'm def going to make a test ride video of this board and my find in the other video I put up. The overall weight of the board is 7lbs. The original board was 5lbs so I only added a small amount to it

    When you were gluing those strips onto the sides of the board, you could've use one long ratchet strap and wrapped it all the way around, like a picture frame clamp.

      +Lazy watchsmith I made a paddle board a few years ago before i was making videos, You can use the same methods as this video if you can find enough foam. Or you can use the rib and spine method, might be a little harder but i think easier for a paddle/longboard.

    I really enjoyed your video and it gave me some ideas that I would like to try. I really like the jelly fish that you did. What did you use to do the artwork? I did notice that you didn't have gloves on when doing the epoxy. I'm not sure what product you were using so it might be safe but if you do have a reaction you will will be out of the surfboard building business. I just wanted to share that with you and everyone. A serious reaction is not joke and is one of the hazards of our hobby/business.

      Long Island Woodworking really great stuff I'm always amazed at how other people bend wood and you did it well but you did seem frustrated at how long it took you to clamp and weight for it to dry so if you're going to laminate wood allot to your surf boards you're going to have to build some simple bending gigs so your clamps don't slip off but i have never seen wood bending without clamps infact i noticed it takes alot of clamps

    • @thevolpstar18
      @thevolpstar18  8 лет назад

      Yea for sure! At the time I wasn't thinking it would be that difficult to clamp the wood around the board but i guess for my next one, I'll spend som time and make a bending form. thank for the advise!

    • @thevolpstar18

    Great video thanks for sharing! The board you made is beautiful. I've made a couple longboard skate decks and I love the hobby. I really don't know too much about how to use a lot of the tools you're using but I'd love to learn. What do you suggest I can do to learn about this stuff? Thanks!

    • @thevolpstar18
      @thevolpstar18  8 лет назад

      Awesome, thanks for the kind words. I would suggest watching woodworking videos regardless of the project just to notice the different techniques and uses for some tools. but the best way of learning is to actually use them, start small with some basic tools and just get comfortable with those.

    • @thevolpstar18
      @thevolpstar18  7 лет назад +1

      It floats as you would picture a 5'3 board would float haha. It doesn't float well but thats mainly because I'm a little too big for a 5'3 surfboard not from adding the wood. the wood added only 2 pounds give or take to the board.
