I have that version of the Hippo Hands. Just got home last night from completing the Smoky Mountain 1000 and they were fine off-road and there is no way I would’ve been able to keep my hands warm without them even with BMW heated grips and very good gloves. Oh, and my ADV training from Bret and Paul also came in pretty handy on the more difficult sections. No drops and no injuries!
Here are cheap things riders always need: Disposable earplugs. Anti fog wipes for helmet shields and glasses. Plexus. Microfiber towels. Rolls of those blue paper shop towels. Gorilla Tape. Rok Straps and Voile straps. Assorted spare bolts. Trial size soap, shampoo, deodorant, visine, etc. Stickers from their favorite vendors to slap on tool boxes, shop fridges, etc. 10mm wrenches and sockets. Zip Ties. Assorted wire joints and connectors (bonus if you spring for hard to find waterproof ones). Those little rubber coated pieces of wire made by Nite Ize to keep cords and cables neat. Hot hands packets.
Incredibly, Harbor freight does not sell that short double end ratchet anymore. They only sell the extra long version which is not useful as a pack tool on a motorcycle. No idea why they stopped selling that one.
So cool you’re having your store! And you advertise the knowledge - have you thought of offering some online classes? I live in EU so it’s not easy to get to your trainings but I would love to learn more from you since I’m following you for some years now. Thank you again for all you’re offering!
Of the 11 items you listed I have all but one. The ratchet which is cool but I have not been able to find one or similar in Canada. The next trip down to the US I have to get myself into a Harbour Freight. (that is my excuse for my girlfriend) Loved your course and your videos.
I’ve heard good things about the double take mirrors, but I’ve also heard the ram ball deforms over time making it less useful. I’ve *also* heard some good things about the Tackform mounting components which can be used with the double take mirrors instead of the RAM components. Yep, that’s a lot of “I’ve heard”; I’m not qualified to make a recommendation, just wanted to let folks know what my research turned up in case it was useful. Cheers.
always love your gift ideas! keep up the hard work making these videos! most people never notice the hard work behind the scenes so again thank you! and merry christmas bret!
Thank you Bret. Love your channel. You have done alot for the riding community, but mostly you are promoting common sense and safety. Thank you again, love your videos. Can you make a video on how to use bike controls, while standing up. I have especially difficulty shifting up, while standing up. That would help a lot of people to polish their skills while standing up on the bike. Happy Holidays and always smile.

The best gift I can think of is that T7 World Raid you got sitting in your shop...
A good list! I definitely second the Hippo Hands. I wouldn't go winter touring without them.
Who else saw the thumbnail photo for this video and thought it was a throwback video of Bret with long flowing blonde hair?

They are $14.99 and in stock at my local Harbor Freight store. www.harborfreight.com/14-in-38-in-drive-dual-head-ratchet-67993.html

Thanks for your gift ideas. Training is perhaps the most important present. Wishing you a happy winter time, Günter/Nürnberg

I have seen that but never experienced it. I think many riders tighten them up more than needed
Yep; wouldn’t be at all surprised.
tackform is awesome
Thanks; more data points is more better. 👍
not the cleanest helmet to hat transition
