  • @rileyrolstone

I actually have a lot of complicated feelings about the FCG and Dancer situation because I think we’re missing an aspect of their relationship.
when they were a team - FCG *entire purpose* was to take care of her and it’s established that she didn’t treat him like a person but rather her property -something to sober her up. Even here when he does so again she says that she missed what he could do for her. And as we know now, FCG snapped *because* he was being used so much without rest (which is what his mechanic represents).
That’s not to victim blame Dancer because she had no way of knowing (neither did FCG). But it’s incongruent to think that how she was using FCG was not part of his snap at all.
I know when FCG talks about the relationship with Dancer it’s all sunshine and rainbows but he is *obviously* an unreliable narrator and I suspect it wasn’t as healthy as he thinks it was.
After all, why has every NPC they’ve met recognized FCG’s sentience but Dancer never did? Or did she but she was okay with letting him think otherwise if it kept him with her?
I just feel like that early experience of FCG’s entire purpose being to fix things - and Dancer specifically - is playing a huge role here in why he feels he can’t let go of it and her.

So Laura is being very smart with suggesting the Moonweaver. She is the protector of lovers, the Moonweaver I believe would very much protect them if they earnestly tried to reach out. Plus she works with both of their aesthetics, Laudna with her witch in the woods vibe and Imogen being like a moon witch already.
I believe it's being set up for everyone to have trust into something bigger than them in someway. Imogen and Laudna with the Moonweaveer, FCG with the change bringer, Orywm and Chet with the Wildmother, Ashton with Terra and the Primals. Fearne could go wild mother or could go darker (I think she is just messing around but wouldn't go through with it.)

I absolutely LOVE Ashton's new boots and I want a pair.
And Chetney not revealing Imodna to the others. Makes sense for the character, as he has been around a year or two (or 400) and would have learned to respect that not everyone is ready to share their relationship status with friends or family. The silent support speaks volumes.
    Addition
Keyleth: "I can grow limbs back."
Me: [flashes back to the Search for Grog]
    Addition 2:
The Tree of names now being called the Tree of Atrophy makes 100% sense. Recall in EXU Calamity that it was a *Blight* spell that destroyed the tree and allowed Asmodeus to enter the plane.

With Delilah lurking on her current one as well.

As someone who struggles with a lot of the same things Ashton does, that scene where he gets his new clothes hit hard. Like the idea of being seen…is both very comforting and also extremely anxiety producing. Because what if you don’t want to be seen, because you have this awful belief about what other people see? But what if actually being seen challenges that belief? Its a complicated dynamic bound up in a small moment, which is my favorite thing ever.

I think it would be awesome for Matt to flip moods during an explanation like Brennen did with Asmodeus. I agree that the tree of atrophy is probably the remnant form of the tree of names, but I also think it bears a spirit like the emerald tree in Isslyra did. Only I think the spirit is Evandrin (in C3E68 Matt gave the name Evondra’vir which I think could be a combo of Evandrin and Avalir) and Evandrin was from cathmora/terramunda so while it was not mentioned if he was or not, it is possible he is gau drashari. I also think it would be exceptionally cool for Matt to describe a floating airship caught in the branches when he describes the tree of atrophy (like both the toy Larryn sent that was later found in the tree of names, and a brilliant callback to the ship Chetney made for Dorian) it could be the first confirmation for the fans that the tree of atrophy and the tree of names are the same. And would also send Chetney for a loop since it won’t be the one he made! Lol

I think the situation with Dancer also sort of indicates that the Divination shenanigans from before were pointing toward D and not Dancer. Because technically Dancer couldn’t help them. She redirected them to Imahara Joe (though she is going with them to Joe, I guess).
Of course that might just be me thinking that because as a person, I really want to see Devexian again. But I do think that Devexian could give a lot of insight into FCG’s past that FCG/Sam isn’t realizing. I’m still hoping that they find him at some point but it’s not looking likely.

I kind of thought the bird was created by Delilah, just because that's the only female necromancer I can think of.
I really wish that Laudna's death had been the end of Delilah. I don't want her to become Exandria's Joker. SPOILERS for the game Batman: Arkham Knight
Joker plays a similar role to Delilah, as a presence in Batman's head trying to take over. He's defeated by Batman facing his fear of Joker taking control when Batman is given an overdose of Scarecrow toxin. Once he overcomes his fear, Joker is destroyed. I wish Laudna had had a similar ending with Delilah, and her death/resurrection would have been a great time for it.
If it had been me, I would have started the next episode after BH beat her in the afterlife with Laudna rolling initiative and solo fighting Delilah 1v1. She defeats Delilah, takes her power for herself, and brings herself back. I love that part of Laudna's backstory, but I don't want her to be any more prominent than an occasional voice in Laudna's head. Once she became a fully fleshed presence in the story, that's when she should have ended.

Hey!! My comment got featured :D
Didn't Keyleth say that the Tree of Entropy was an old Gau'Drashari who guards the area? sort of like the one in Issilra that turned into a crystal except this one is a tree, although I suppose we don't know the origin of the Tree of Names but I believe it was destroyed when Asmodeus returned to Exandria through it and I find it hard to believe it could have survived being blighted, split apart, turned into a gateway for Asmodeus and being close to ground zero for what was effectively a continental nuke (but hey it's magic so anything is possible)
Didn't they link the Titanstone Knuckles that Grog had from season 1 to the Titans too? It's possible that when Ashton unlocks his Primordial abilities he'll get access to similar powers as the gauntlets plus some extra maybe through the Dunemancy energy inside him as well, I imagine he could harden himself giving himself higher ac and possibly some toughness (something like ignores up to 10 points of damage from a physical hit? although that might be broken :P)

I honestly would love if Sehanine speaks with Bells Hells at some point. She's a fey-related moon goddess, and we know the Unseelie Court wanted to join the whole Ruidus conspiration to get rid of the Moonweaver. She surely must have some opinions on the current lunar crisis.
About Gargo/Shithead, i guess we still have the chance of knowing more about it, since FCG kept some of its feathers. That could be used to cast Legend Lore!
Maybe Evontra'vir didn't became a tree spirit because of archdruid old age, but because he found the remains of the Tree of Names and created the Great Tree of Atrophy by giving his own life (as he previously knew it) to it.
Do you think during their visit to Bassuras Fearne will use the chance to meet with her parents?

If someone hasn't said it already I am basically positive that the bird is a revenant. It has unfinished business because FCG killed its master, this would explain how it always ends up finding him and why it keeps coming back to life; good news for you Luna though, because if that is the case the revenant, even if it's body is destroyed, the soul will find another bird corpse presumably and inhabit it within the next 24 hours.
That's my solid theory. A lot more loose of a theory I have it that FCG didn't kill the bird, and maybe not even the master but the bird perceives that they did. The death of the master left the bird with a really unpleasant and terrible life, and after they died they came back with the unfinished business and need for vengeance; make FCG's life just as terrible as they had.
