When Dr. Loomis used Jamie as bait to capture Michael, there was a sick side of me that assumed Loomis was either teaming up with Michael or sacrificing Jamie to save himself.
That would take the catchphrase "If you can't beat them, join them" to a whole new level. 😂

    Trivia:
    - Don Shanks (Michael myers actor) was originally set to wear the same mask that George P. Wilbur had worn in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) in order to retain consistency between the movies. The mask did not fit Shanks, so a new one was made.
    - The Jamie Lloyd character has a striking parallel to the Tommy Jarvis character from the Friday the 13th series. Both characters appeared in the fourth, fifth and sixth films of their respective series. They were both about the same age in their first appearance. They both become institutionalized and develop homicidal tendencies themselves after the killer. In this film, Jamie starts out as a mute. In the fifth Friday the 13th, Tommy rarely speaks. At the end of that film, Tommy is seen holding a knife and essentially becomes Jason. At the end of the previous Halloween, Jamie is seen holding a pair of scissors and she essentially becomes Michael.

No spoilers in my comments, I promise! I absolutely love H5, and I am so glad that you enjoyed it. I am the same way, as far as I kind of love H2 more than Halloween, and I kind of love H5 more than H4 (even though I know that the original is "better" than 2, and that 4 is better than 5...I actually love 2 and 5 more). I think you hit the head on the nail that the main reason is that we are more connected to the characters and understand the rhythms of these characters, settings more each time. The director for H5 really wanted to humanize Michael a bit more, as he thought Michael would be scarier if he could become more human as Jamie's uncle...but then ultimately "choose" to remain evil in the end. I actually really enjoy the character of Tina. I liked that they went a different route with a "final girl" for Tina. Jamie is, of course, the real final girl of H5; however, Tina as Jamie's protector was so different than Rachel. I love Rachel, too, but Rachel is a more traditional final girl. Tina was the character that usually gets killed early on, so I like that again the director tried to do this one a little differently. People tend to get annoyed with Tina, but I think she was refreshing.
No spoilers! Other than the "man in black" (or cowboy as you called him which was terrific) will be explained in H6. But, that's not really a spoiler, right? You have two choices with H6: the theatrical cut or the producer's cut. The theatrical cut was what was obviously released while the producer's cut was infamous for years and years with bootleg copies, etc. There are various minor differences throughout them both with the main difference being the last 20 mins or so are completely different with different endings. I love the producer's cut and I am of the generation that waited years and years to see it (I did see bootleg versions, though), so it will always be "special" to me. That being said, I kind of think the theatrical release is the way to go. At least in my experience when showing H6 to friends for the first time. They have always been more "scared" by the theatrical cut than the producer's cut. If you get a chance to watch the producer's cut afterwards, I would absolutely go for it. I think it is more interesting to see it after the theatrical cut. Great video! It is so refreshing to see someone watch H5 going in with the right mindset.

    • @ScaredPale

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! That’s a great point, Tina would have traditionally been killed off right away so that’s an interesting turn for sure.
I’ll see what’s streaming on shudder for Halloween 6. Either way I think I’ll watch at least the last 20min of both!

@@ScaredPale For sure! We look forward to seeing your reaction! Personally, I am sure we would all enjoy seeing your reaction to both versions. Although it is mostly the endings that are different, there are various differences throughout, mostly minor; however, (no spoiler), one character's storyline is altered a bit. The outcome is ultimately the same with the character, but it reveals something that is sort of icky. I only say this b/c some information in the producer's cut ending will make more sense if you do watch the entire version of the producer's cut. Sigh, can I make that any more complicated? Lol I also hope that if you have not seen it, you will continue on to do Halloween H20 as well. I see your Scream poster in the background and H20 is definitely of the Scream generation of slashers. The influence is clearly there and Kevin Williamson had quite a bit of direct influence in getting the ball rolling for H20.
Just in case you do not know (or have avoided finding this out due to potential spoilers), but the Halloween timelines are as follows:
Timeline 1: Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween 4, 5, and 6
Timeline 2: Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween H20, and Halloween Resurrection
      Timeline 3: Rob Zombie's Halloween, Rob Zombie's Halloween 2
Timeline 4: Halloween, Halloween (2018), and Halloween Kills
On it' own: Halloween III (However, Halloween Kills uses easter eggs that includes Halloween III)

    • @Playitstraight44
      @Playitstraight44 2 года назад

H4 eliminated Jamie Lloyd as the lead protagonist and created the psychic connection between her and Michael. Plus they never explained why Loomis so half wittedly thought Myers was gone. So H5 had to explain all of that, course correct in some instances, and figure out what to do with Michael while it was being fixed. They were handed a big mess.

This film has many issues and was obviously rushed into production. However, it does have some good scenes, a very creepy atmosphere, a great title sequence, and good performances from Danielle Harris and Donald Pleasance. I always admired what a professional Pleasance was; no matter what, he played he scenes like he was doing Shakespeare.
Side note: on another one of your videos, I made a very rude and mean-spirited comment. I deleted the comment, and I apologize. You're much more thoughtful than the average reactor, and you seem like a good person.

The crowd cheered in the premier showing when Tina was killed off. When i heard that the first time i laughed and laughed. Another thing is when they started filming they didn't have a finished script (which is never good) and they were doing re-writes as they filmed. That abrupt ending with the dark man shooting up the cop shop was simply because they had no ending scripted and had no idea about where the movie was going so they just left it for the next writers to fill in those blanks. This is what happens when you shitcan the original finished script.

There are two different versions of Halloween 6. The theatrical version that’s more violent and has a different ending. There’s also the Producers Cut that has a different ending for the characters individual sub story. The producers cut includes a deleted scene from Halloween 5, which was the originally intended ending

    • @mattschliemann9683

I think there's a lot more uhhh what do you call them "flash edits" and sounds in theatrical (quick cuts when
they edited it and such). I personally liked 6, but there can be things in it that were annoying, maybe it's a product of it's time it was made, where movies might have been doing that more. I believe a lot of the music is done differently in producers cuts.
I'd suggest trying to watch both versions at some point if it's possible. We don't necessarily need reactions for both of course. I only recently was able to watch producers cut in the last couple of years when I found it on Prime, I think you can both rent or buy it on prime, but I don't think it comes with a prime subscription.

Always liked Halloween 5. It was super dark, eerie and intense. The car chase, laundry and the barn sequences gave me nightmares as a kid. It's almost on par with Halloween 4 for me, which is the better overall movie of the two, but Michael in that movie isn't scary at all. The 6th movie - Curse I think is by far the worst. Didn't bring back Danielle Harris and thr Cult of Thorn was taken way too far. The kills in Halloween 5 were quite intense. The acting also is good for the most part. Loved Danielle Harris, Wendy Kaplan and Donald Pleasence as Jamie Lloyd, Tina Williams and Dr. Samuel Loomis, respectively. Here's my ranking of the Halloween franchise from worst to best. Have a great day! 🙂

At this point there is no continuity literally there is no continuity. They retconed the ending of Halloween 4 in this movie. At the end of Halloween 4 Jamie kills her stepmother or whatever. Then for the lak better wording becomes the new Michael Myers. Because Michael Myers got killed at the end of Halloween 4. But because the guy who had the rights to Halloween and Michael Myers. Wanted an insisted on it being all about Michael Myers so he had this movies director and writer. Change the ending of Halloween 4 because Michael Myers was killed off in that movie. Jamie was supposed to be the new face of evil. But they had the new people in this movie change that to that psychic nonsense. Then the director killed off Rachel just to make Tina the new female lead. Because he wanted a silly and ditzy female lead then the. Director added the symbol or tattoo stuff along with the cowboy. Just because he felt like it seriously it was not in the script. He randomly added it just because he felt like it an left it for the next person to figure out. Then heres the thing about Halloween the curse of Michael Myers. There is 2 versions of the movie theres the theatrical release wich made the movie Studio happy. Because it implies Michael Myers is forever then the Producers cut. Wich stays true to the original script of the movie wich once again. Suggested Michael Myers can be replaced so obviously that version was a no-go for movie theaters. Because what's again the one that held the rights to Michael Myers an Halloween. Made it clear Michael Myers must be in every single movie. He did not care about the writer or director's vision for the movie. All he cared about was that Michael Myers better be around for the next movie.

Its good to see later generations liking this film. Of course it has its issues, but H4 gets waaaay too much credit for being something it never was and actually did not make any better profit for the studio than Halloween III. So for all the bluster fans give H5 , truth is it had allot of loose strings to fix that H4 created, so I can forgive it for having to manage those issues for really the entirety of it's own tale. It was never given the space to breath and be its own thing. So they had to foster a script around the crappy ending to H4. I do think they should have flushed out the stranger in the steel toe boots at the end. Had they done that, it might have played better with everyone back then.
