      I'm pretty sure not only cleaning constantly cleaning the pound will not only be very stressful for the fish because of having to transfer them back and forth but it would also get rid of the beneficial bacteria that the fish need and it can takes a VERY long time to build it back up and it can cause different chemical to spike especially with how many fish are there I'm sure he's taking care of them...and also doing that he risks a lot more to go wrong then good and it can and has killed fish more fish produce more waste and ammonia and a lot more so maybe instead of judging just ask him or people in the comments why he has it that way

    • @CryptidCult05
      @CryptidCult05 5 месяцев назад +93

      @@mindibun8160also I doubt it's for clout and i feel like the industry is more likely to harm fish by not having the right size tanks, not feeding and cleaning properly, mixing fish in that don't need to be, and it's not very easy identifying fish even if you are very skilled in and that fish would have be worse off where it was before he got it

      Try looking up noodling.
      That's where people often in Oklahoma go out to certain water ways.
      They find an underwater hole where a cat fish might be living.
      Then they stick they're hands in & try to grab it.
      My dad told me as a kid he once caught one as big as him.
      Still that is a big ass pet cat fish.
      Also if you go noodling I've heard you need to watch out for other things in the hole.
      Like snappers. I don't know if you could really find a snapping turtle in there though because I'm not crazy enough to go noodling.

    We had a horrible experience with catfish. We bought two pink catfish (which are perfect for aquariums) but they were extremely hostile needing them to be separated from other fish. They kept banging onto the sides of the aquarium even though there was plenty of space for them to swim causing their whiskers to snap off. The water reeked with the stench of blood. Eventually one died. We then moved the tank to the balcony hoping that the fresh air would calm the last one's anxiety but, and we still don't know why, it's jumped literally four feet up in the air and off our balcony (and we live on the fifth floor). We've raised plenty of fish including the playful yet dominant parrot cichlids but catfish are a nightmare to tame

    If it's a blue catfish you can pretty much just let him go in any deepish river.

    He must be a hearty fish cuz I didn’t hear you say a thing about acclimating him to the ponds water

  • @the_7th_sun
    @the_7th_sun Месяц назад

    What does the acclimation process for a fish that big look like? Are they tough enough just to drop straight in or do you mix the water into the bucket with the fosh fron the pond?

  • @BuckBlaziken
    @BuckBlaziken Месяц назад

    It’s a blue catfish, they’re very territorial and eat smaller fish when they’re stressed. It’s a good thing for the koi fish that you saved the catfish and removed him from the tank.

    It's common catfish consume by local people here. It has tender and tasty meat. But with that size, I don't think it'll be the same delicacy.

    If he doesnt stay well fed he will eat every fish in that tank when the lights go out. I had an albino cat fish for a while and when it was bed time and i shut his light off, it wasnt a couple seconds before he began vacuuming up his live minnows.
