Dana Plato was just too beautiful for an end to life like that. RIP 🪦. And Gary Coleman, he was the greatest who spent his entire life defending his integrity. They both lived tragic lives and I am so sorry it ended like that for them. RIP 🪦.
I remember Dana Plato on the show back in the day when I was a kid. I thought she was one of the most beautiful girls I've seen, full of life and optimism as portrayed. Sad and unfortunate how her life took a turn and later ended.
"Different Strokes," was one of those rare comedy sitcoms that you might find a few times in your lifetime...each character was played extremely well. Can't really name a favorite, as the all were exceptional in their roles. 🙏 RIP DIFFERENT STROKES 🙏 CHARACTERS
I watched this show in reruns with my family in the late 90s. I have fond memories of this show and the time spent with my family watching it, many of whom have also since passed on. It’s like tears in the rain.
@@FactsVerse I know this question wasn't directed at me but I'll reply by mentioning the two-parter "The Bicycle Man." As good as it was, it missed a golden opportunity to teach kids not to leave their friends behind in a situation that is sketchy.
I loved the show when i was a kid..later i remember Todd and Dana struggling with addictions and couldnt understand why they couldnt just get right until i ended up personaly going through addiction issues myself for many years..Its something I don't wish on anybody..I make five years clean in November. And i now help others to stay clean.. But many relapse and dont make it..Its very heartbreaking to witness. Because we can, and we do recover..Rip Dana Plato and the rest of the cast..
Conrad Bain had a twin brother who was a parking lot attendant where I lived in Canada when the show was still on the air. It was very strange seeing this guy working for minimum wage in 40 below weather.
I remember part of that episode. Such episodes have their place but IMO the core viewership of the show skewed too young for such content. I actually had to try to explain the episode to a young child, I don't know how to explain such things to a seven or eight year old.

Gary was literally one of the greatest child stars of all time. Nobody in the 70s onwards could touch and likely he is the last of that particular Hollywood legacy.
There was also another black child actor on the show but only appeared occationally as a small supporting role, he played arnolds best friend dudley. I dont remember his real name though...
I was a fan as a child but looking at these things it made me think this really was not a real Gaillard so to protect children and family and some Maxx bags if they left people hanging in about a minute have people who were dealing with things and then I can say it was a good TV show but without true guidance and he left kids pressured
Love the show way back then, but I am curious about what happened to Danny Cooksey and did he obtain success after Diff'rent strokes after the show went off the air? thought I ask.
@@FactsVerse I will have to say the two part episode that dealt with hitchhiking and the episode when Arnold and his friend were on the set of a Knight Rider episode.

He did the most cutest put you talking about and I still do so and he did great but you think it might’ve triggered anger later on the show because he he had to be this kind of direct person to say something in the Way of getting your act together you know what you talking about like but at the same time tragically behind of all the influences they didn’t really have the safety behind these TV shows
Gary Coleman was a great personality and the Child Labor trafficking continues to plague Hollywood and the dreams of the youth that died along the way, survivors and family's accumulating dead celeb's wealth. :(
Gary Coleman's (among a few others) experience was the catalyst for strengthening the Coogan laws in California. Parents are no longer allowed to spend their actor child's money foolishly (or to support household expenses), 10% of earnings are actually required to be transferred to a trust account (called a Coogan account, this was the part that was actually law before Coleman's experience) and parents/managers have to account for every penny of the remainder.
On Dana Plato it should also be noted how her mother managed to circumvent the protected money Plato earned under the Coogan Act and quickly an amendment was made to it called the Plato Ammendment
Gary Coleman's experience also caused the California Legislature to pass a law restricting how parents and/or managers can manage the money the child actors earn. It can no longer be used for household expenses and every penny has to be accounted for. Parents can take a small commission if they are the child's manager(s) but even that is tightly regulated. As for Coogan accounts, 10% of every dime a child actor earns goes into a trust fund managed by an industry credit union and the child actor can receive it at age 18.
