Frederick has been known for having a lot of land. However, it was like a small rural close knit town. In the 1980’s many of my friends from Frostburg State were natives of Frederick. Now most of us are parents of college grads. 😂 My last visit to Frederick was the ground breaking of the Urbana community and attending a wedding at Hood with friends from Frostburg college. On business in Allegany County one morning, I was totally shocked at the traffic leaving Fredrick to Baltimore 695. Frederick has grown a great great deal. I remember it being a very neat and clean small close knit Maryland region.
We recently opened a new Huntington Learning Center in the Urbana Pike Plaza! So excited to help the community especially after the past year or so we've had. So happy to be on-board!
Most desirable community in Frederick - Spring Ridge, southeast side, no city traffic/taxes. Grocery/shopping/gas/repair/great community/history. Great distance to/from DC. Small town feel if you're looking for it. Negatives for Frederick, Interstate 270 traffic but that's good/bad per DC commute and cheaper to live here, not cheap though.
Just recently moved to Frederick. I love the outdoor options nearby, the geographic location, and downtown is cool. My main gripes so far is I’d like to see a couple more shopping centers like Worman’s Mill (I mean, how is there not a Whole Foods here?) and more bball/tennis courts around (in comparison, MoCo has plenty of both). I also think the 270/85 and surrounding area as you enter Frederick could be spruced up a bit (I know there’s work currently being done with that).
Just moved to Urbana last year right before the pandemic hit. I absolutely love it here, especially since we are now working remotely and don't have to worry about a commute. As a craft beer enthusiast, I love that you can find family friendly breweries pretty much around every corner it seems 👍🏾🍻
Thinking about moving from Harford County to Frederick in the next five years. Nice mountains, and I'm tired of how crowded the Baltimore metropolitan area is
Can you tell us about growing up in Federalsburg Maryland in Caroline County. Then and Now for all people. I heard they had a juke joint /restaurant on smith street . Is it possible to live there now peacefully and like it was when there was a poultry factory?
Good video. We like Frederick and are thinking of moving there when we retire. A few questions, though: how is the vegan eating scene? Not that the restaurants need to be exclusively vegan, but are there good options overall? Also, you did not discuss crime. Is downtown safe at night? How about property crimes? I read that you recently had a protest where property was vandalized. (We sympathize with the overall goals of the protesters, but not their methods). Thanks!
David, Thanks for reaching out. The Vegan scene here is good. Most restaurants have vegan options and we even have a completely vegan donut shop, Glory Donuts, in addition to that we even a local CO-OP Grocery with two locations. ( with a deli that has amazing vegan breakfast sandwhiches ) There are also two restaurants that come to mind that have a large selection of vegan menu options, they are Café Nola and The Orchard. Would love to talk more with you about the downtown Frederick itself and any other questions you may have, feel free to call or text me at 240-626-1495 any time, any day.
@@livinginfrederickmaryland8950 Thanks for the info on vegan eats. How about the question of crime? That's always a concern when choosing a place to move to, though we our plan is to buy a single family detached house, so it likely won't be in downtown -- but we will play in downtown, including nights. I'm also curious as to whether your local planning department is preparing to rezone single family home neighborhoods. We do not want to buy a home only to find that a year or two later, the local government has decided to allow denser development next door.
@@MM-un6il As a resident of downtown for 5 years I personally never felt unsafe, I will say though that downtown is a city environment and there can be crime as you would find in most urban areas. As for the recent protest we had, there did seem to be a few bad apples in that crowd. In past demonstrations, the police have actually had a decent relationship with protestors and have even helped blocking traffic during their demonstrations. Regarding rezoning. Right now Frederick is seeing extremely rapid growth and they are starting to run out of areas to build if you ask me. At this moment there are established neighborhood that are seeing increased growth however there are many neighborhoods in Frederick where growth simply cannot be sustained. I would love to go over those neighborhoods with you directly, feel free to give me a call or text at 240-626-1495 any day, any time.
Lived there for 4 years; just know that the summers are super hot and humid. I've also lived in Prince George's and Howard counties, but Frederick had the hottest temps - with as many as 3 weeks with temps over 100. (one year was several days of 114 degrees).
@@livinginfrederickmaryland8950 Thanks again. We're in the very preliminary stages of researching where we might relocate to in perhaps five years, so it is premature for us to meet with you. But, we are keeping a file of our research and will definitely include your contact info for Frederick.
@Autumn went to highschool a few minutes from downtown. Would ditch a lot. An acquaintance of mine beat up 5 cops while on pcp and hung out with a crowd that would throw bricks at homeless people. Several friends of mine are now dead or in jail.
Pros meeting me in person I am a very friendly male cons I have to walk everywhere because I am a lonely single male and I don't drive a vehicle due to my autism.
I was born on May 22nd 1985 in Frederick Maryland I was a famous person from 1985 til 2009 then people got more and more angry with me over the years.
