mighty smooth )...here I am in my flat in small sea side town west Wales and your coming through my bluetooth speakers throughout the flat..you sound really crisp, that j35 sounds so bright.. it's amazing )
Thanks Dave D for the nice words. I really love to play guitar and this Gibson J35 is a very-easy-to-play instrument. A real six strings plasure! 4 days ago I stringed the guitar with some 11-52 D'Adario EXP Phos. Br. and now she shines&rings like bells. I plan to change the tusk nut&saddle with bone ones, but this will be after several months.
Great thanks, my distant friend! I am really flattered that someone on the other side of the world finds my playing inspirational ;-) This Gibson Montana J 35 is a really flawless guitar!
Thank you, Michael for the nice words. As you see I am not a perfect guitarist and I make mistakes, but this was what I wanted to show to the youtube audience: an ordinary man (without being a musician) with a new Gibson Acoustic J35 can produce such sounds and record it in the bedroom with some ZOOM Q3. This Gibson J35 is a real inspirational instrument. It plays so loud that you don't believe - if you did not try just do it. And CHEERS!
Thank you for the nice words, delorme42. I also love the J 45, but don't have one. For the moment I enjoy the J 35 a lot. I am not such a good guitar player, but what I can - I can. In thie video I just wanted to show off how easy an ordinari customer can play on that Gibson acoustic model and how natural it sounds recorded with a small amateur device in the bedroom. I believe I did it well.
+gerry christianson I am flattered... really flattered that somebody I don't know choosed this Gibson Acoustic because of my humble playing... thank you, Sir!
+gerry christianson hope you have alot of fun bonding with that used j-35, i played one in gc, and it just felt so right.. i'm tempted to find one used.. if u play Zeppelin - over the hills n far away, it sounds Great!!! thats the first song i learned.. n i started on a classical takamine, mind you so i had to get used to the chunky neck real quick haha, but these r real comfortable n not as unwieldy as a square shoulder dread
zeb found a used one that had pickup taken out for $950 could not pass it up or be happier with it i used to sell other brands but never bought one first guitar i played that sounds great finger picked or strummed and nuances with different picks
Thank you for the kind words. I only can say that it is easy to play like that when you have a Gibson Acoustic in hands. These guitars are just very well made.
Thank you Kyle for the nice words. This new Gibson J35 is a real winner and a keeper. One just must learn some things about this instrument. For exemple I am now experimenting with lighter strings (the guitar came with 12-53 Gibson Masterbilts and last week I changed with D'Addario EXO 11-52. Think I'll go bact to the 12-54 Phos Bronze). On the other hand I use 2 kind picks - 0,48" and 0,60" Really sound different. Glad you like this sound recorded with a Zoom Q3 in my bedroom ;-)
Hallo Guido Kirsch. That melody, starting at 03:30 is the intro of a song of mine. This is my melody, matter of fact that is the solo in the beginning of a song that calls "Love will come back".
Matter of fact it starts 3:52 This is one of my collaboration originals. The music is mine, the lyrics are written by a friend. Pittty for you, but the song is in my language - bulgarian. The name of the song is "The last prophet" and you can find aan amateur video in my youtube channel. There other extracts of my own songs here in this J35 demo video.
Beautiful playing! I hear a warmth and fullness I haven't heard in other j35s. What kind of strings are used in this video? Maybe it's just the individual guitar, or a great player......
This video was made last summer when I purchased the guitar. That set of strings was on the guitar when I purchased it from the local Gibson dealer's shop here in Sofia, Bulgaria. I think they were Masterbilts 12/54 but I am tot sure... Now I have Elixir Phos. Br. 12/54 on that instrument (and on my other Gibson J200), I like the sound and the fact that they last much more. Thanks for the nice words, sir. This is a very ordinary Gibson J35. I just know how to extract sounds out of acoustic guitars.
Matt, you have to play on both instruments. J45 has more bottom and less mids. J35 has an insolent sound with very strong mids and highs and less low, and some kind of even "metalic" sound (even tin-pan sound) on second string. In the moment I found the instrument I was in love. Now 7-8 months later I am more conservative about the J35. Matter of fact this is a great guitar, very easy to play but you really got to be attentive if you have to choose between J45 and this J35
Great demonstration! May I ask why you are using two capo's? I'm just curious as I've never seen this (two used). Thanks! I'm really struggling between the J35 and J45. Now that I am at the point where I am able to purchase one I simply cannot make a decision. I love the sounds from the J45, but somehow love the neck better on the 35. If I go the 45 route I may have to buy used and if I go 35 I'll buy new. I really want new as this will be something I pass on to my son and hope to keep in the family etc.
Hi Ronnie! If you want a better guitar I SUGGEST you to buy a J45. I live in a country with only one Gibson authorised dealer, so you see we have no culture for Gibson acoustics here. When the J35 was on the market I purchased the instrument and I am still the only one who has this model in the whole country. I have much guitars. The J35 I purchased to bring it abroad and with planes... But now I know that the travel instrument for me is a J45 or a Hummingbird. There is something cheep in the sound of the J35... I changed the supid tusk nut&saddle with bone ones and the plastic pins with bone ones. The sound got much-much better!!! I changed the stupid L.R.Baggs piezo with K&K Triniti Mini System and wow the sound of this guitar "kills" plugged in! But........ Now, NOW I know that the Instrument I need for traveling is a J45. Concider this. The two capos on the neck - why two? Because they are different capos. The first is a regular kysser capo and the second is a drop D Kyser capo. Understand?
MR GIBS Hi Mr Gibs- Thank you very much for all of the information and I do understand... it's very helpful. I think I will take your advice and hold out for another month or so in order to get a J45. I wish they had the option of not getting electronics because that is one thing I don't have a need for. Thank you also for answering on the capo's. Take care!
***** Yes, get the J45 -this is the better guitar and you will not regret this decision. I agree that if you don't need electric parts in your acoustic you don't need to buy it, but this is not the actual idea of Gibson... I hate that. And I hate the ugly sounding L.R.Baggs piezo inside their guitars now. And I hate their stupid tusk saddles and nuts and their cheep plastic bridge pins.. But there is nothing you can do if you want to buy a new J45... When you buy this you can change the parts with bone ones and sell the electronics. So you can get back some of you extra money payed for things you don't need. If you play in Drop D I suggest you to tune your guitar one step down and to use a Dro D capo on second fret - very useful thing.
MR GIBS K&K make great pickup systems. Best natural sounding acoustic tone I've heard from any pickup maker. How was the set up on that J 35 when you bought it?
popoaggie The set up was a bit higher than I would and the instrument went to my luthier. He changed the tusk saddle and nut with bone ones (and after that I changed the plastic pins with bone pins). My luthier took off the guitar the ugly sounding L.R.Baggs Element and installed the K&K Triniti Mini system. That's it.
Beautiful playing great guitar. Gibson guitars in general are suitable for rock and roll blues jazz, etc... I bouhgt a J35 instead of Taylor same price range. Taylor guitars are way too bright for me Gibson on other are more midrangy. I love your playing.
Hi paul. My playing is nothing special. I just know how to extract sounds from a metalstring acoustic guitar. The instrument really sounds very good, but I have some suggestions for you. If you have the possibility - try also a Gibson J15. Also a very good one! If I had to make my decisions now I would choose a J45 and I can tell you that you better do the same!
The J-35 is a used guitar bargain deal! Perhaps unfairly, Gibson J-35 has had bad resale compared to the J-45. Thank you, you’ve proven that the J-35 can create great music although some still may prefer the J-45 given it’s almost 80 year history
The lacquer is nitrocelulose and when you play the skin of your arm sticks to the top. Putting a thing like this one on your arm helps the skin do not stick a,d il looks interesting to the audience. Some even believe that this is a real tattoo ;-)
Beautiful playing and very inspirational, hope someday to play like you! Just got my J35 a few days ago and wish I could play like this. I'll get there.
Of course you must play a lot, but one thing is for sure - this Gibson acoustic J 35 is really a very inspirational instrument. Plays very easy. So go on!
You play wonderfully and do justice to the Gibson J35. Both technically and artistically, your skill is superb. I wish I were as musically gifted!
Man I could listen to you play all day. Inspirational! And on a Gibson I can almost afford too!
mighty smooth )...here I am in my flat in small sea side town west Wales and your coming through my bluetooth speakers throughout the flat..you sound really crisp, that j35 sounds so bright.. it's amazing )

This melodies I will have the whole day in mind ! Great tone !
Your playing is an inspiration...thank you for the upload it is wonderful...The guitar sounds absolutely beautiful as is your playing...
Great thanks, my distant friend! I am really flattered that someone on the other side of the world finds my playing inspirational ;-) This Gibson Montana J 35 is a really flawless guitar!

Yes Krasi, that J-35 will only sound better and better than when you first got it.Keeper she is.
great playing mr gibs picked up a used j35 because of your video it sounds wonderful! thank you
+gerry christianson I am flattered... really flattered that somebody I don't know choosed this Gibson Acoustic because of my humble playing... thank you, Sir!

1st acoustic i have owned and could not be happier
Thank you for the kind words. I only can say that it is easy to play like that when you have a Gibson Acoustic in hands. These guitars are just very well made.
I recognize you from an acoustic guitar forum. You play well and the J-35 sounds sweet. Best wishes for the future.
Thank you for the good words Brian! Best wishes to you too !
Very good touch. Beautiful!
Love love love - your playing is inspirational :)
Thank you Kyle for the nice words. This new Gibson J35 is a real winner and a keeper. One just must learn some things about this instrument. I guessed that. Any chance of hearing the complete song on youtube ?

Great! Sounds even better on the Jumbo.
The J200 has no a good set up in that recording... I plan to record this song in studio for my next album
Matter of fact it starts 3:52 This is one of my collaboration originals. The music is mine, the lyrics are written by a friend. Pittty for you, but the song is in my language - bulgarian. Top job mate. Sounds ace.
Bonsoir, Krasi, à toi et à ta merveilleuse guitare!
oh yeah!!!what a beautiful sounding guitar my friend!!th-up!!
Yeah! Right. But I put this to prevent the sticky feeling between my forearm and the nytrocelulose lacquer of the top.
wow nice pickin sounds just like it killer tone
What's the name of the first song, nice job.
Here comes the sun
Can you list some of the tunes you are playing here? I am interested in boosting my repertoire of songs to play w my friends
I will try to do that these days
sounds nice, Krassi!

Sounds great trying to decide between a 35 and 45 think the 35 has a bigger sound for folkie stuff cheers Matt

Amazing playing, I'm 90% sure I'm going to buy one of these, for the money it sounds great
But I hate the look of the pick guard,
Decisions to be made
I have a new video reviewing a 1939 J35.Gibson
it's a great guitar
wow
The J-35 is a used guitar bargain deal! Perhaps unfairly, Gibson J-35 has had bad resale compared to the J-45. Thank you, you’ve proven that the J-35 can create great music although some still may prefer the J-45 given it’s almost 80 year history
Yeah, agree. The J35 is a very good instrument and I now have it at home :-)
Thnanks!
Why the tattoo sleeve? lol
jk, that's actually smart
The lacquer is nitrocelulose and when you play the skin of your arm sticks to the top. Putting a thing like this one on your arm helps the skin do not stick a,d il looks interesting to the audience. Some even believe that this is a real tattoo ;-)
MR GIBS lol, what area are you from?
Sofia, Bulgaria, East Europe
MR GIBS Ahhh, that explains why they don't have many acoustic gibsons
NB
lack of sweetness
Is he wearing a tattoo sleeve?!?!? xD
Exactly - that is a tattoo sleeve. I wear it because of the nytrocelulose lacquer of the guitar top.
So go on!

Thanks Dan!
