While MkLeo bounced back from a 5th place finish at last weekend's Super Smash Con with a dominating 1st, plenty of other key storylines and bracket runs took place in Waco. I really wanted to point out that Leo also only dropped 2 games in Smash Factor 9 (S Tier)
Only losing one game to ShinyMark and Dabuz

He loses to Onin and the community thinks “his runs over”. Lmao, I always thought that mentality was silly

As much as people like to see great players rise, they love to see them fall.
But Mkleo is far from being out.
This also happened with Tweek and Sparg0 at SUS3 and 4.
Byleth is Leo's second or third best character now, he threw that set with Onin. Even so Onin is a new threat to join the ranks, likely a top ten player in the world.
the same kneejerk reaction you're seeing with a certain character
The community blew up when the slingshot came out, then people said they weren't really useful, meanwhile MkLeo leveled up his side characters with them. He always explores every option he has and never leaves anything on the table. It's an inspiring mindset and it's why he's on the top.
Exactly. I started using slingshot with my Marth and Corrin and I instantly felt a level up, especially with Marth. Dude can poke a shield with Nair 1, the slingshot away, drift back and punish almost any OOS option. Crazy tech that's so underutilized.
Jaredisking1 taking a game from the best player in the world by using simple tips on how to beat Aegis is beyond a simple flex if you ask me.
The number of final kills with up air is insane
I miss spargo, I hope the kid is doing well. Wanna see him in some big tourneys again those Leo vs spargo battles where insane.

He’s all but confirmed he’s coming back. He tweeted about coming back in response to the Steve-controversy, and has other tweets that are essentially saying he’s coming back soon. He’s building hype.
I can’t wait. I main cloud and watched Spargo rise during quarantine. His ascent has been so fucking cool to watch, and it was awesome having a CLEAR #1 and #2. Both Leo and spargo were the bosses during brackets, to clash in grands.

Leo was ALWAYS at the top lol. He lost to one silly Steve and World of Light nearly manifested in ways I cannot describe. The amount of debate was too much. Now it seems to have died down some thanks to Rise'n'Grind.
Edit (again): Can we talk about SHADIC's run, though? He placed top 16 going solo Corrin! I'm also super happy about a Shulk doing super well. Underrated characters are rising up.
Edit (AGAIN): I have way too much to say about this tournament, but seeing only ONE Steve in top 30 is GREAT. Onin didn't even lose to a swordie, he lost to Anathema's fantastic ROB. Now that was glorious.

it's always like this. Leo loses once in a blue moon, and every time the "Is Leo washed?" narrative begins.
For those reading this comment and confused: the previous title of this video was “MkLeo returns to the top” rather than “Mkleo strikes back.” They must have changed it after seeing all the comments like this one.

In a alternate time-line where Peanut won that game, Little Mac is finally seen as Mid/High Tier and #BanMac is trending on Twitter.
Very much appreciate all the work Kamona & everyone at PG Stats puts into these incredibly detailed tournament recap videos. They help an old timer like myself keep up with a game I used to follow much more closely. Since ive stopped playing ultimate and only been playing melee that's all ive been watching as well. These videos are a great way to still enjoy this amazing community.

They don't even have any merit to claim whether it's good or bad in the first place and still deny it after he runs through top players with them. It's so cringe.

Joker is clearly his best, then Byleth, Corrin and Aegis in some order. I don't think Aegis is his second best though.
Also the typical argument used is that he has the worst mythra which isn't even true lol his mythra is solidly better than both sparg0 and shuton and a little worse than cosmos at best
@@lokks2130 cosmos might win a 1v1 like last time but Leos mythra is way safer on hit and recovers more reliably than Cosmos.

This why Leo is a god. Players can get a set over him today, but can they make back to him next week? Bet your house that he’ll be in top four next week waiting for you again.
Instead, you beat him, then go back to your lame inconsistent self after while he continues to make it to Grands.
This is why Spargo was a true challenger, he was always there in top 4 to challenge Leo.

I have to say, I don't really like Leo using Pyra/Mythra. I prefer his Byleth :( Pyra/Mythra is just so obviously good while Byleth was a sleeper pick and he proved that Byleth could win majors. I'll always enjoy that more.
Same here! Aegis is just boring IMO. You know they're gonna place well because so many top players are using them now (Cosmos, Leo, Sparg0, Shuton, and now Tweek for instance). We even had 3 Aegis users in top 3 at World Tour last year (I HATED that so much).

100% although to be fair, Sparg0 isn't playing competitively ATM, Tweek didn't place as well with Pyra/Mythra and might go back to Pokemon trainer for the Steve matchup, Cosmos has highs and lows every tournament, and Shuton is mainly in Japan and only got a brief chance during this summer to attend North American majors more often. On average, it might just be Cosmos and now Leo as the top reps of this character in North America.
