  • In part 2 I expand on the importance of modes, how they relate to scales, and how to get a bunch of unique sounds out of modes (major, phrygian, etc) with simply knowing the minor scale and 7 modes.

The video is a great help bro. My music theory is pretty weak and it's really cool that you teach this in the context of modern metal and riffage. Maybe you can follow this up with a lesson on chords and a bit of ear training; you figure out new songs wicked fast and it'd be great to see your process condensed into a lesson.
Also, congratulations on winning Shredders of Metal man! That guitar is super sick looking. Must be awesome to have, what, 3 new EBMM guitars AND a new ESP? I'm jealous as hell bro, all my ass can afford is a used PRS SE.

There another video along with yours that help so much. Where all the notes they were represented in blocks where notes with sharps|flats had double blocks between the them and when you didn’t have a sharp or flat it would just jump to the next note showing where a half step actually jumps a full note. I used to think a statement like that was confusing as all hell. Between you and him I’m extremely grateful!!

I love playing leads over a sick ass rhythm riff in Drop-C by dual tracking an Aeolian lead track with a variant of the Aeolian lead using Harmonic Minor an octave higher in the chorus of a song. This would give it a slightly darker tone so F@#$ YEAH man! Thanks @Nik, another awesome lesson, and you taught me something today bro 🤘
