- In part 2 I expand on the importance of modes, how they relate to scales, and how to get a bunch of unique sounds out of modes (major, phrygian, etc) with simply knowing the minor scale and 7 modes.

#Guitar #Scales #Lesson - Видеоклипы
*Hope this video helps!*
It did a lot for sure .
C´mon talk more about your E-II. Very nice video aswell.
The video is a great help bro. My music theory is pretty weak and it's really cool that you teach this in the context of modern metal and riffage. Maybe you can follow this up with a lesson on chords and a bit of ear training; you figure out new songs wicked fast and it'd be great to see your process condensed into a lesson.
Also, congratulations on winning Shredders of Metal man! That guitar is super sick looking. Must be awesome to have, what, 3 new EBMM guitars AND a new ESP? I'm jealous as hell bro, all my ass can afford is a used PRS SE.
Great video man - It is a BIG help breaking it down this way and giving real examples!! And congrats on the Shredders win!!
Great video man really helped🤘🤘
"Guitar teachers hate him for sharing this one simple trick."
Lmao
by Traffic Junky
True story bro!
Fucking commercials!! LoL
"Guitar teachers love him for teaching this one simple trick"
Easy tip:
1:Write a melody
2: loop it
3:Play one note rythym
4:change the note, and hear the difference in the emotions
Okay about 20seconds in and I just have to say that guitar is absolutely beautiful
See how he won it on Shredders of Metal 2
same thing for me, man
Thanks!
It better be! That's an ESP Eclipse right? Always wanted to have one haha
This is what we need! Every other tutorial always has the idea that everyone watching likes older rock music which is still great so they teach us that way, but having a teacher that actually teaches the style of music you want is so useful if that makes sense
No, that DOES NOT make any sense at all......

JK! I couldn't agree more!
My guitar teacher spendt 2 years of learning what I learnt from 22 minutes in this video, thanks
Rarely do we guitar advocates find lessons so simply put, and broken into easily absorbable blocks.
Thanks Nik. Your work is fantastic!

Handy to know!
is this in context of the minor scale? or the major?
@@NathAditya minor as 1
Music theory can be so fucking confusing and frustrating at first. But then it all clicks together and it's so satisfying
My teacher never taught me modes because he said "it is hard, I'll teach u soon" but... I learn all of these concepts in just maybe 2 hour because... he take it easy & my teacher take it hard. Nik u changed my vision! That's one of important life's lessons!
Big Thank U & Respect !!
Bro others would require payment for a video like this...I LOVE YOU...the fact that you break down everything to being so simple is amazing...As someone that always played the simple minor shape I could tell that what note you focus on changes the whole sounding theme but never could understand what exactly happens...This clears it up A LOT. THANK YOU
So true
Glad it helps! :D
Plz let this be a series!
souroush bagheri no, this is a bad lesson
Lol this is the second one in the series
@@Stringprodigy 3 year old comment sorry but why is it a bad lesson? I've almost gotten all 7 modes memorized and am scratching the surface on the key changing part. I feel like I'm actually able to write my own riffs based on this lesson but I'm curious why some would say this is a bad lesson?
Thank you so much Nik! This really gave me a new concept on scales for the electric guitar in general!
For any style that is !
Hey Nik, the PT 1 and printout you provided helped grew my understanding exponentially. I can't thank you enough for what you do.
Amazing video, it gives the concept clear and easy to understand and it shows that you put a lot of effort in this. thanks!
off all the videos I've seen, he's the only one that makes sense, simple and clear
Thanks! I really appreciate how thorough you explain everything.
This video was SO helpful! Been playing cords and bars to songs by ear for years and never could apply what I knew about scales to what I can play.
This was SUPER helpful! Will reccomend!
These both lessons are the best videos I have ever seen. They are simpel to understand, focused on the important parts and applied to drop tuning. Everything a metal/rock guitarist needs. I never learned so much within 40 minutes, thank you soo much!
Just watched part 1, and currently watching part 2. You've made what my friends have been teaching me for years simpler than ever. Thanks homie
Excellent videos. Really helpful thanks!
Nic, you helped me so much with this! I am a self-thaught guitarist, and I've played for many years, but now when I start taking the guitar a little more serious, this really helped me so much!
Dude your two videos helped a shit ton! I was so hesitant to learn scales and modes for the longest time, now this made it so much simpler. I really appreciate it man! Amazing content
These two videos were incredible !!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Now, these 2 two parts of Video are absolutely INSANE dude. I finally have it clear in mind. its time to bring it slowly on the fretboard. thx mate.
You're my hero, Nik. These videos helped me so much.
I’ve playing in minor pentatonic scale for years and never try anything else. Thx for this video Nik. I enjoyed learning new scales and modes too!
I took a couple of music theory classes when I was a kid and maaan, I gotta say, this second videos is awesome, in the key switching part I started to get my mind blown. Really cool series man, I really apriciate it
Nik this is great shit man I’ve taken music theory classes that talk about modes before but this is the only content I’ve found that explains very clearly how to apply those concepts to guitar specifically. Plus your method of explaining how everything works is simple and concise. I hope you consider making more content explaining theory and techniques that help advance our playing
Nik, thanks so much! After few years of desperately trying to get the different scales and modes, it finally clicked for me! Cheers 🤘
You are the only guy, person/human being to ever be able to explain modes to me to where I can understand. Thankyou so much please make more helpful videos for tips and tricks!!! You're the man nikalicious
Aaaand there it is. Everything just clicked. Man you have a way of delivering that makes things very easy to understand. Trying to learn this stuff has always been frustrating because I always get lost when people start talking about modes, but the way you explained it is so simple and clean, and everything makes sense now.
Once I put this to practice I think I can start working my way out of my plateau! Thanks Nik!
dude this is just so sick! so basicly phrygian is just the minor scale starting 3 notes up the scale, it's insane to me how you can completely change the vibe by just shifting the pattern!
Thank you so much for Sharing this with us.
Great teaching videos :) i finally understood how Scales and Modes work, thank you!
Thank you so much Nik. Really appreciate this!
Nice video! It's actually pretty cool to see someone talk about the modes relative to minor, instead of major. A video about chord progressions and using dominant and diminished chords would be pretty cool too.
Very well explained Nik ! Thanks a lot !
Awesome lessons!
Your a legend, your teaching approach makes the complex seem simple. Thanks! New sub.
Knew all the modes already and can fully play the neck but still exploring the topic - what you taught me is that I don't need to start the first note of the mode from lowest string - duuuh is actually quite obvious but was stubbornly always initiating from lowest note - this makes it so much more fun ty for that
Not going to lie watching your video today at work and yes I know the video is old. I recently just picked the guitar back up after years and everything you explained in this video and your last made everything click for me. I was never good and I was tired of trying to learn tabs and wanted to learn actual music and to be able to use it and understand it. Just giving a huge shout out to you! Can't wait to go home and put all this together!
Thank you for this video!!
I figured most of this out on my own after the last video, but it was still really helpful to see it all come together like this. Thank you for these videos and please make more.
Will do!
This was just as helpful as the first one. Thank you 🙏🏻
Nice to see someone lay this stuff out in simple terms. Most people just seem like they're trying to impress you with their knowledge rather than actually teach you.
Thanks nik i watch both part 1 and 2 my mind was blown away
Premium Lesson! The best free video I've ever seen
Thank you very much! After playing guitar for 11 years, I figured it would be time to dive a bit in music theory. With your lessons, I really can connect. So please bring more tips and tricks. Keep rockin!
Awesome vid Dude🤘
Amazing, helped me alot connecting the knowledge i already had!
My brain just exploded after watching this. (In a good way) Guitar is starting to come together for me now. You're a fantastic teacher. One of the best I've found!
This is properly amazing, none of my teachers could explain it this causally. Thanks Nik!
I was not convinced at first that this video would help me understand the modes, but you really did make it seem easy.
I play piano and have been for quite some time, and this is quite interesting. Been trying to relearn how to play the guitar since it's been years since I've actually tried. This vid gives a lot of insight into how things are done on the fret board that I've never noticed before! The most challenging thing is taking the knowledge I have of piano and applying to a fret board.
Damn man the first video is fantastic, this one is is pure gold sir. It has helped me immensely. Thank you very much
Wow this clarified so much for me, Nik you are a god.
This helped me so much, thank you!
Really really really useful and understandable video, thanks you a lot
You blew my mind when you said "when you know your minor shapes you know your major shapes"....I about shed a tear of happiness LOL. Thanks bro this is such an amazing way of teaching scales & modes.
This is good. I never understood scales when other people explain them. I actually absorbed information when I watched this. I want to shred, but shred my own creations. I want to make music, and this really helps.
By far the best music theory video I’ve seen. This is perfect
I've been trying to figure this out for so long as it applies to guitar leads haha ... been through music theory courses and this is by far the best representation of the application of modes. Just a simple mindset shift and applying the position concept. Great video bro.
There another video along with yours that help so much. Where all the notes they were represented in blocks where notes with sharps|flats had double blocks between the them and when you didn’t have a sharp or flat it would just jump to the next note showing where a half step actually jumps a full note. I used to think a statement like that was confusing as all hell. Between you and him I’m extremely grateful!!
Thank you man, now I feel able to know what to do while improvising over drums.
Great teaching skills.
I had teachers try to teach me and watched many videos explaining this and just couldn't understand. Just one time watching this and it makes perfect sense thanks for these videos
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
Thank you soooo much nik this video helped a lot 🤘
Dude, you just blew my mind at 17:45 with the Phyrigian Dominant. Learned something new today, and I will definitely be playing around with this later. I love playing leads over a sick ass rhythm riff in Drop-C by dual tracking an Aeolian lead track with a variant of the Aeolian lead using Harmonic Minor an octave higher in the chorus of a song. This would give it a slightly darker tone so F@#$ YEAH man! Thanks @Nik, another awesome lesson, and you taught me something today bro 🤘
Thank god you exist man your videos helped me sooo much to learn music theory and apply it on guitar
Man this is absolutely amazing.
These videos finally bridged the mental gap i had with this stuff. Thanks man.
I am so glad I stumbled upon your videos... I could not get my head around key changes at all and now I'm thinking what was so hard about it? Thank you.
Thanks Nik!
This was really helpful, thanks!
I actually appreciate this, it was a really good review to pick up on a couple small things I missed from our lessons
Glad it helped dude!
i have no words for how helpful this was. I learned this while half asleep, and I still understood everything.
Nik thanks for your videos!!!!
one of the best lessons ever.
Keep uploading lessons these are a great resource
Thank you so much for this video, now I can play in any key of the minor scale.
WOW! I learned a lot just within 1 hour!
Damn this video helped, love your videos! Never stop please
Glad you enjoyed it!
You solve my problem. Thanks man
This video is gold
MIND. BLOWN. 🤯
lol i actually rewatched/listened to lesson 1 an hour ago.
Oh damn
Thank for teaching this concept and simplifying it. You made me more confident to grab the guitar again.
Thank you, man! Very good job
Outstanding explanation
I'm glad i found this video, you're actually a great teacher. :o
These lessons have been really helpful, thank you. I would like to see a lesson building on this outlining the the shapes/modes on six strings in a standard tuning and then building on that to apply to a 7 string guitar in drop tuning.
Ive listned to so many "music theorist" but only now that im able to visualize in my brain the concept of it... Thanks Nik...
Really good info! Growing up on Metallica I’m very familiar with the Minor scale, but getting into Metalcore/Modern Metal has been a difficult transition for me when it comes to writing new riffs because I wasn’t exactly sure what mode these guitarists were in. Much less how to make it easier to play in drop tunings. This video helped immensely! Thanks 🤘🏻
You helped me a lot with understanding scales!! Thanks you and keep on with these great lessons!
Glad to help!
Man you’re amazing at what you do!! You give me motivation and inspiration, without you my guitaring wouldn’t have improved! One of you’re biggest fans from South Africa!!
Thank you so much nik 😘
Damn man, you're the best teacher ever!
this was insanely good, drummer is a rockstar
This is opening my third eye ,thx ,only been playing for 5 months this helps alot
Great to hear!
Never understood Phrygian scale until u taught me. Thank U!!!
