If one travels over 40mph then yes, it is necessary. Motorcycle helmet is a must and in hot weather, a breathable chest, back and shoulder protector, neck protector, knee and elbow pads and gloves is all that's needed without the jacket. I'd recommend the Alpinestars A-10 chest protector for the body with its full coverage
When someone asks me am i really wearing THIS on my electric scooter, i usually answer with the question - how fast do you think my scooter can go? Then they look confused and usually say "...like 30 kph"? When they hear it can go over 80 kph, they look totally confused and lost in disbelief :)
I feel stupid enough riding these scooters (although I really enjoy it), but I can't image the comments people would make seeing someone wearing a race suit AND riding an e-scooter, lol! At least in the US anyway. I don't disagree the protection is warranted, but looks a little ridiculous (IMO), typically uncomfortable, and a lot of work to get suited up ever time I want to go for a ride.
I agree - if you are riding some Xiaomi max 25kph, then it's a joke. Yes. But if it's a hyper scooter - it's totally different thing. I think it's weird only for those, who don"t imagine speed over 25 kph :)
Tell us about Your favorite gear. And also - what do you think about full racing suit + electric scooter combo?
