Anne With An E got me, somebody who never grew up with the story, to fall in love with these characters. Now I've discovered that it was my grandmother's favourite childhood story (it's very similar to her own life story), so now every version of this story feels like I'm close to her. I'm so glad that these wonderful, magical characters have been passed down the generations.♡

I remember my mom and I would check out this movie free from the library. We would check it out every week to watch over and over. We were very poor and couldn't afford to rent VHS movies (the 90s). As a child, this movie opened up a world for me, that I still remember to this day. Such a beautiful, wholesome story.
My children bought this for me for my birthday. We would watch the entire set of the Green Gables and Avonlea. We would start on Friday night and go right through to the end on Sunday afternoon. The most awesome movie EVER!!!!
I was 12, unable to understand English. Every Saturday night, I stayed up, with my parents' permission, to watch this show with subtitles. I was fascinated by the story, score, cinematography, and the exquisite Canadian maritime countryside before I had the vocabulary to describe my feelings.

I don't know why you needed your parent's permission or to stay up late to watch this programme. It is a kid's programme with no swearing, sexual content or violence, designed for kids to watch!

Without a doubt, this was the absolute best Anne and also Marilla. Probably Anne of Green Gables in particular is one of the few series that I will remember for the rest of my life and every time you get melancholy. It was played so beautifully.
Megan Follows is such a phenomenal actress. Truly brought Anne to life 💓 Did not even recognize her as Queen Catherine in Reign because she transforms so completely
The first short novel i ever read was when I was 8 years old and it was Anne of Green Gables. Im an aboriginal Australian so a white ginger person is basically the opposite of what I am. (Dark skin dark hair and eyes) but I remember from kindergarten that I thought gingers were the most beautiful people that I'd ever seen and I think reading Anne of Green Gables had a very big impact when it came to that. I still think gingers are the most beautiful people and its just more proof that opposites really do attract sometimes. I eventually snagged my own ginger husband and ginger son!!! The more red and freckly the better I say!!!

I didnt like being white and somehow my kids got all the qualities I wanted😁My first has freckles and curly hair, my youngest got the beautiful tanned skin, and my third has the beautiful Asian eyes. Their father also came from a similar mixed background so they were just born that way. They all look alike, you can tell they are siblings but different at the same time. Its quite amazing!

I don't know if this would be of any help, but there are eight books in the series, six mainly featuring Anne and Gilbert. Only three got turned into movies, but I am starting to binge the series, and whether or not you have read them before, it's so fun jumping into the series that we love so much and rediscovering moments and characters/ friends. ^-^

At such a young age, Jonathan Crombie played Gilbert with such complexity and depth. He really was a great actor. RIP. Was there a reason that the original music was not used for the trailer? The beautiful music is one of the reasons this version is so memorable.

I grew up with this book...encouraged by my beloved grandmother. This adaptation is so lovely.Marilla and Matthew, played by Colleen Dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth is sweet sweet nectar for the soul.

This is the best adaption of my favourite books ever Anne of Green Gables. I watched the netflix series Anne with an E too. But I like Megan Follows adaptation more, she is really like Anne Shirley on the book that I read.

Was there a reason that the original music was not used for the trailer? The beautiful music is one of the reasons this version is so memorable.
Colleen as Marilla and Richard as Mathew plus+ Megan as Anne, and even the smallest role player, make this a wonderful time to spent a night, a day, a lifetime enjoying.

I grew up with this book...encouraged by my beloved grandmother. This adaptation is so lovely.Marilla and Matthew, played by Colleen Dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth is sweet sweet nectar for the soul.
Ah!!!!!! A fee years ago i had read this book and never wanted to return it to the library! I felt sooo connected to the character as if it was my story….. didnt know it had a movie!! Gona watch sooon❤️
I have just finished reading the first book (in original) and decided to refresh in my mind the images from this tv show. It is definitely the best version, the best adaptation for me❤️ actors, sceneries, atmosphere, plot and this wonderful cheerful mood after watching are so unique and splendid!

This is the best adaption of my favourite books ever Anne of Green Gables. I watched the netflix series Anne with an E too. But I like Megan Follows adaptation more, she is really like Anne Shirley on the book that I read.
