    Hi doc.. can I ask? Last june 24, 2020 did my 2d echo.. and the result is normal.. how long is the validity of the result? I mean when is my next 2d echo procedure done for monitoring only.

    • @MedicinewithDrMoran
      @MedicinewithDrMoran  3 года назад +5

      Thank you for asking. We don’t routinely repeat echocardiograms in normals unless people have signs and symptoms to suggest a change in their cardiovascular status.

    Cool to see the room and the Doc beforehand. The video is a little stiff tho. Doesn't look like anyone is responding to the comment section. Maybe turn it off, so people do not have false hopes? Of course this is not the platform for any clinical discussion. All in all: good try !

    A friend of mine went for the echo-cardiogram on Friday and she was required to sign off on the hospital injecting a white substance in her hand which went to her heart as a way to give an accurate results ejection fraction of heart in order to do a complete echo-cardiogram. I did not see you mention that as as part of the echocardiogram that you do what is the difference???? Please explain if you can

    • @user-ki5uz8hi9g
      @user-ki5uz8hi9g 2 года назад +11

      Hey! I know it’s been a while since you posted so maybe you’ve already gotten the answer but I do echos and the white substance is a medication that’s just used as an “image enhancer”. Some patients won’t have the clearest images so that can be used to help us better visualize the heart. The substance creates microbubbles that basically reflect back brighter than the tissue of the heart so it’s easier to visualize the squeeze of the heart

    Technologist not technician

    • @MedicinewithDrMoran
      @MedicinewithDrMoran  3 года назад

      Derrick, sonographers worldwide use lots of terms to describe their job. Ultrasound Tech, Echo Tech, sonographer, cardiac sonographer, or just plain tech in addition. Some people like to be known as a technologist as opposed to a technician. It is a bit like the test itself. There are many terms for the test. I explain it to patients as a heart ultrasound but many of my colleagues only call it an echo, cardiac ultrasound, cardiac echo … when they talk to patients about it.
