Speaking as a nurse, and as a former TRA cult member, now hardline GC, I am NOT fine with “calling them what they like”, as far as pronouns go. I’m fine with not using pronouns more than necessary, and mainly using their names. It’s not like I would WANT to deliberately trigger patients who think they have a very special “gender identity”, and I would much prefer it not to be an issue. But also..? I do not feel okay actively LYING about anyone’s sex. Not professionally, either. It goes against my deeply held personal convictions, values, and moral code. Not to mention just overall REALITY. And it reminds me of something we DID extensively talk about in nursing school, which was: “what if a patient asks you to pray for / with for them, and you are an atheist?” Which.. we were always told that that’s okay, and that atheist nurses could politely decline such requests, and instead recommend the patient some other caretaker to pray with them, who’s a believer, and won’t mind doing it. Same should go for this stuff, too!! I think it’s important that GC doctors and nurses are not MEAN about it, and indeed treat their patients with respect. But we absolutely have to be able to say: “sorry, but I don’t share your belief system, so I won’t do the fake pronouns and language”! That is an IMPORTANT right. And caretakers are also real humans, who need to have the right to RELIGIOUS FREEDOM at work. (I would also be cool with TRA believers being able to request a nurse who’s NOT GC. And I would respect it, and have no problem with it, if they did not want to deal with me.) Also, speaking to the fact that I’m a formerly fully brainwashed believer in this crap, I personally find it actively traumatizing, the thought of having to go along with TRA dogma, and use fake pronouns! Because it would feel like being forced to let a mind warping virus BACK into my head, that I had to fight REALLY damn hard to get rid of! And the answer is NO!!! Just like I won’t DELIBERATELY expose myself to Covid, either. That is all.
TIMs are also often the only source of “milk” for babies, who now miss out on the Colostrum that is so good for them. Some hospitals are getting around this nonsense by asking people what their sex at birth was.
The terms pregnant has already been assigned to an identifiable group of people since time and memorium. That group of people will be keeping it that way thank you. It is possible to get pregnant whilst on testosterone, but it's not recommended the NHS states. This is because taking testosterone in pregnancy may affect the baby's development. Biology dictates that a woman is a woman and a man is a man. Like you said only women can get pregnant. And the term pregnant has been assigned to an identifiable group of people since time and memorium.
Time to reverse "Gender Recognition Certificates" isn't it? Maybe let them get a certificate saying Female Identifying (as) Male FIM and Male Identifying (as) Female MIF which indicates you are female or male as that's your first letter.
Yes - and time to repeal whatever law it is that enables people to falsify their birth certificates. It's truly bizarre this can happen to a legal document that records material fact.
