I think walt was the good guy, but he always got mistreated and degraded by people and from his students sometimes, had the opportunity to be the bad guy against people so he did and liked how it felt, he liked how they respected and treated him when he was actually Heisenberg and not the miserable highschool teacher Walter White.
Edit: He also even admits at the last episode just before saying good bye to Skyler,
“I did it for myself, i liked it”

@KeV B it's a complicated web. He didn't intend to kill Gale at all to begin with. He liked him. I agree it was selfish to keep Jesse but that was also necessary in his point of view because he threatened to turn him in. By doing so he avoided the option of killing him.
Had there been no external factors such as Tuco's cousins, Hank or Tomás things would've gone much smoother for both of them. In the end faced with the consequences Walt brilliantly outplayed Gus by getting Gale killed.
This tv show is an extreme example of how self preservation kicks in and changes one's behaviour when they're pushed up against a wall. Just imagine being in Walt's shoes. It's terrifying.

I never understood the hate for Skyler. She is a loving mother and wife that is trying to keep her family together. She acts cautiously, and yes, she makes mistakes, but then again she is forced into this drug underworld where she obviously doesn’t belong. She’s scared of Walt but she also loves him so she does all those things for him even though she knows they’re wrong. She’s a great character played by a great actress

@subcomandante marcos That all comes to head with him and Mike. Mike telling him they had a good thing with Gus but Walt's ego just couldn't let him be the man under someone else, he had to be top dog. He had to. He didn't like how obvious that was to Mike and he killed him for it. It's funny watching Gus's early interactions with Walt again after so long. You probably used "I'M" and not "I AM" for convenience when posting your comment. But it raises a good point in terms of the writing. Contractions are informal and in this case, using the formal, "I AM", and not the informal, "I'M", made a huge difference. Say it out loud "I AM the danger...." and then say "I'M the danger...." and the difference in terms of the "impact" of what he was saying is clear.

@@PinkFloydTheDarkSide Hmmm - I'm quite sure that the English language should not be faulted for a writer lacking the skills to connote mood, emotion, etc. However, when it comes to these types of forums, there often seems to be an increased level of sensitivity/misunderstanding when posting a comment.
Getting back to the quote - the verb, (am) is what is key. When the verb is contracted with the noun (I) - it loses a "something something" and that is what I was getting at. I (noun) AM (verb) being distinct versus "I'm". So, kudos to the writers for recognizing the importance of this distinction and kudos to Bryan Cranston's delivery.

As much as this scene is a meme, it's also kind of terrifying. It's such a stark contrast to that timid chemistry teacher just barely meeting ends meet. And I love Bryan's acting, people don't give enough credit to the person who plays Skylar, Anna Gunn. Her character has watched her husband go from a kind man, if a little prideful, to a exactly what she says he's not, a hardened criminal. One who will soon go on to become a kingpin in the meth industry. All of that is reflected in her eyes. The fear there feels so genuine, and that subtle lip quiver at the end. She's been put in the one of the hardest situations one could think of, one where she is beginning not to feel safe in her own house. Superb acting from all of the cast, big hats off.

Hands down the best scene of the entire series. A single moment that, initially, Walt composes the "I'm the danger" response to cover himself and persuade Sky yet again, from involving law enforcement. Within the few seconds you see a man, go from using manipulation for his own sake, getting completely into what he's expressing, to then realise what he's actually just said to his wife, which he knows will permanently alter her perception of him, then go to realise that everything he just said was quite literally true. Vince is a true pioneer and Bryan performed it immaculately.

Additionally, it's very interesting how Walter and Jesse react to Gale's death
Walter is fine with selling the life of someone who respected and appreciated him for his needs (like he'll do a couple times in the future) and throws a speech about how cool he is for having done it, when he didn't even kill that person, but he made anyone else do it (Like he'll do a couple times in the future)
Jesse truly regrets what he did and feels that a part of him also died, as he tries to talk about it, but he has nobody to do it (because nobody will listen to that and support him for killing), as he suffers souch for what he did, that he fills his house with videogames and music, loud nous and strong lights to silent the voice of his conscience, because he really knows that what he did was wrong

      A couple of things:
1st, yes. Walt didn’t kill gale, but he was going to had victor and Mike not stopped him. It’s not like he was sitting on his ass having Jesse do it for him.
And second, Walter definitely felt some level of regret from what happened to gale. It’s most evident from his reaction to his karaoke video. This is just a mask of bravado. A fake. He doesn’t feel proud for killing gale but he has to appear so in order to try to feel powerful to skyler.

    • @sickboy6477
      @sickboy6477 2 года назад +5

@@thecollector4332 Ok. O get its but I really think he would have being emotionally injured if he had to kill Gale by himself. Despite that, he didn't precisely respected Gale. He tried to make excuses to make Gale feel useless, because Walt thought "He was not at his level", which is clearly confirmed when he says Gale was "an imitator", and because no matter how good he was, Walter knew he wasn't going to reach that 3% left by himself
