You can actually see the stearing wheel on one of the pictures from the front which you did show us (made by 2x 3x1 beam and something connecting them together with axle hole). As for the set.. it is a great part pack and nothing else, looks awful with all of those stickers.
On the official page for this set there is a video that showcases the features, and it has a removable (rear) engine cover and suspension in the back too, so it will be interesting to see how it fits in there.
The stickers on this look like a rigmarole but other than that, it's a joy to see Lego settle into these new scale Technic sets like the Ford GT. They feel premium to build as an experience and aren't absurdly unaffordable (looking at you Sian).
It looks fantastic and it is definitely a must get. My only issue is because the A pillar are so far back you definitely need some sort of windscreen to complete the look
Thanks! In one of the front-on shots you can see a square steering wheel built from 3-stud long Technic beams. I think the rear suspension will be a transverse single or double shock layout, laying sideways and connecting both left and right together
I’m really looking forward to this set! I’d love to see more of the Le Mans Vehicles made into Lego models. Especially the old 90’s vehicles. Looking forward to your full review!
Finally...we got an official technic Peugeot...now we cannot wait to convert the second box into a transverse engine 308 GTI hatchback! (With a decent gearbox...of course.)
The thought of putting all those stickers in correct alignment is already making me nervous! I struggled with the stickers on the Mclaren F1 car. Will Lego ever get rid of these horrible stickers?
Honestly. I still haven't built my Technic Ferrari 458, because of the amount of stickers. I don't know that I would have bought the set, if I knew it had that many stickers, and some other issues. It's the reason I didn't buy the F1 car.
Should make for a really unique building process. Overall look of the car is great, and for a large scale model looks pretty dense. Most Technic sets I feel can get away without having a windshield as it usually gets decently framed however this one requires a newer solution as it looks incomplete.
You can clearly see the rear wheels are connected through "universal joints" and it's structure is secured by moving beams, of course there will be a suspension.
At 3:03 you mention panels 5 and 6, but if this set is DBG then you have panel 3 and 4 behind them on the outside edges, and *those* were unique to the Osprey!
While 200€ is a bit much, I will still buy it but with some discount. I love the real car so that means I really like that lego representation. I really like the suspension aswell and it would be crazy if they replicate the real one, just like you mentioned. I can't wait for the review. Great Video 👍
thanks for the great video! definatly going to get this! It looks like a really cool build! but.. the differential you point out at 4:37 is not a differential but a 28 tooth double bevel gear with pin hole. and if you really aren't convinced the rear has suspension by looking at that construction, the product video clearly shows the back suspension working as well. Also the product description even answers some questions you throw up here, like the steering wheel. I always watch and really enjoy your videos because of your knowledge and research, not because you are the first one to post a video.
So if that is a red 28 tooth double bevel gear with a pin hole at 4:37, what is usually attached to it? Yes, the differential housing! :) And I am really not the one who needs to be convinced about the rear suspension, if you watch the video again I actually shared my theory how the (invisible) rear suspension can be arranged. About the production description, that was not available when I made this video so I'm happy to see some of my questions already being answered :)
@@RacingBrick Thanks for detailed reply much appriciated! I stand corrected you are right. I never even saw a differential like that I only know the open types. I looked it up in Studio and found it. however I have used that gear for totally different purposes for custom builds :D it allows an axle to run through freely while still supporting the gear for another drivetrain. thanks again!
Love the color scheme - been aching for dark gray technic since the osprey was cancelled. one thing about the photos, I feel there's no way those headlights will glow like that in an illuminated room. And $200? That's pricey. Doesn't look like we're getting much new here, mostly just recolors and technic is supposed to be a value leader with these non motorized sets, but I suppose TLG didn't learn their lesson after all the backlash since last August. This set will be a must for me if I can find on sale ~$140 or less. I think a good release price would be $160. Rarely should a normal technic set exceed 10¢ per part.
Hmm .. got an email for discount for this set, searched for it and saw you had a review so watched it to see if its interesting. I think I like it, do have the ferrari in the same scale so might be a good addition. A pity you couldn't open the box already ;-) thx for a good review again!
I think the rear suspension will be solved with rubber, but we'll see. And my question: Did you manage to put the 1:10 size ratio to 1:10 by accident, or did you do it directly?
The marketing for this set has been just plain awful really with the confusing colour shading (the awesome Ford GT''s dark blue is much nicer in person than in the pictures) and the product description. First impressions are pretty good, it's certainly an interesting looking car, and a surprise to get the Peugeot license, in a sea of high-end or ultra-high-end car makers but I'm glad it's something different and relatively more mainstream in name. There's two issues I have with this, one of which is the front cockpit canopy section, like you mentioned; because Lego doesn't make car windscreen pieces in the Technic format, we don't see the true shape of the car's cockpit and looks as though it has no windscreen, just a roof canopy. And there can't be a suggestion of a windscreen like other car models which all have conventionally positioned A-pillars, cos it would be inaccurate to the source material which has a wrap-around style of windscreen. The other issue, which is a major one that also now hurts the Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” set, is the Ford GT exists. Yes the Ford GT is smaller but not exactly tiny as it's still fairly large, pretty complex, seemingly more functional and a much less costly set. The price difference between these two sets, regardless of country of purchase, is just so wide that this Peugeot is going to need to be really impressive to justify that difference. Otherwise, it'll need really hefty discounts, which is not guaranteed to help it as discounts will likely hit the Ford GT set also, widening the gap back up and putting the difference back to square one.
I'm agreed with you. A have the Ford GT, what a hellish, beautiful car it is by this LEGO's cteation! The only detail that I don't really like is the shape of the headlights, but this is a kinda mix looking of an original 1966's and the "remastered" 2003 one GT's headlight design.... I have purchased it when it was released (@March 10th) for approx. ~99 € and I didn't regret at this price to have. 1466 pieces, nice functionalities, the best "1:12" scale. So then, LEGO is going to release this Peugeot. I'm a Peugeot guy (but my next car is going to be a japanese or korean car) and until yesterday I was super excited. Then I have seen an misterious, "out of embargo" preview about the car. Nearly same functionality, much more pieces and nearly double the price. I'm very disappointed....
I liked the car at first glance, but the more I look at it, the more I find the missing windscreen to be destroying the look. I realize there's no ready-made technic part for it, but for me the shape of the cockpit defines the LMP1 (or LMH now I guess) cars and the windscreen is an elemental part of it.
The rear wheel lift arms are hanging in the pictures, there are cv joints for the axles, I don't think they can be securely connected to the frame like that, so I'd wager there is a sort of suspension at the back too - perhaps below the differential somehow?
Interesting additions, like the glow in the dark thing, but, to convince me to buy it for 200€, the awd powertrain must be a thing. Speaking of LeMans , I have a CaDa Porsche 919 hybrid which costed a bit less than 200€ (170€ I think), similar scale and similar piece count. This car is very convincing, and has: V4 engine with moving pistons connected to rear diff Steering wheel & HoG steering at same time Opening doors Opening hood But an electric kit with 3x motors and LED headlights were added as well a remote control. - Battery stored under front hood - Big motor driving the rear wheels, diff and v4 engine, placed in a similar fashion as electric motor on real car - Motor driving the steering system - Motor driving accesories; with a clutch you could choose if you are operating the hood or the doors LEGO should abandon licensing stuff and do a car that resembles a Peugeot 9x8, and use the licensing money to make the car cheaper or with richer features
I really like the WEC cars but I must say that I love the look of the real car but the Lego set falls short from the side view and just doesn't look as good as I think it could. And with another high price of €200 which will be at least $320 - $380 in Australia, I just can't justify the purchase price of it. It looks like it should be an interesting build, but I'll have to see if I can get the set much cheaper on sale or second hand for the building experience. I personally can't see this flying off the shelves in Australia. Thanks again for a great preview Balázs!
I absolutely love this set, and will definetely pick it up. I already built a speed champions scale 9X8 and this will pair up nicely. While the set looks striking, there are some issues that I have with it. The biggest ones being the same, exact old tires we are getting now for 10 years or even longer. How is it that each year we get more and more specialized parts like mudguards (defender), but yet haven't gotten any new rims or tires outside the 1:8 supercars?? this car should have come with slicks. The other is the exhaust pipes that look nothing like the real ones. Apart from that its a great set, it even has lime interior! can't wait to build this one
I just got an advert for Lego technic and it showed some of the current sets along with a poster in the background of the 70s Pink Pig Porsche…future hint maybe?
I’ll get it for sure, and wish that the ford GT was this size. It wasn’t a fun build in the smaller size, they tried to make it too complex in a small package.
Thanks Ballazs, I wasn’t aware that Lego were going to release a Le Mans Spirts Car in their Technic range, so I really appreciate the video. My initial excitement was short lived as I agree with you about the lack of a windscreen and the gaps at the rear of the cockpit/body. I guess that sets in the Lego Technic range are not aiming to be as realistic as diecast models, with the emphasis on building and including key features. If that is the case, it doesn’t look too bad, although I will be interested to see what you think when you have built it. Personally, despite my love of Le Mans racing cars, I don’t think this will make my wish list as it will probably have a similar UK price to the Landrover Defender, which I would actually prefer, but can’t afford at this time.
Looking at the partial picture where you are showing the suspension assembly it looks quite clear that the bodywork is DBG. The piece on the table is very, very similar to the wheel hub. Definitely not LBG, there are parts in the suspension assembly and they are much lighter in shade. The panels mounted on the model appear brighter than DBG but that's clearly a lighting effect. So it's either DBG or a new intermediate shade of gray (and I really, really hope this is not the case)
the car is definetly dark bluish grey and not light bluish grey. you can see that the colour's been messed up by too much colour-correction because the black pieces are way lighter than they should be.
out of the racing 18+ series that started with the Porsche 911 RSR this Peugeot appears to be the most unusual one. The Porsche was nice, but had few functions, the Ferrari was a re-skin of the Porsche. The McLaren to me was the worst one since they could've done something more for the return of an F1 car in the lego technic lineup. I expected the Peugeot to only have the usual functions, instead the front suspension and front differential really tickle me. Yes, in terms of look it has weird proportions and gaps, but so do the Porsche, the Ferrari and the McLaren, at least with this one it seems they chose to include some nice modifications that kinda justify the increased price. Can't wait to get this model.
The front does look quite cool but otherwise not really a set that interest me. Altough I hope that the partnership with Peugeot will continue, I would really love to see a creator expert (sorry I mean Icons) Peugeot 505 Turbo. Or maybe a 504 Coupe or a 404 coupe. Unfortunately I highly doubt it will happen
Hey! Thank you very much for this informative video! I like the LEGO look of this Peugeot Hypercar but somehow I was freaked out after you showed us how the real car is looking 😲 ... now I don't like the set anymore xD ehehehe Kind regards from Germany (^^,)

Wow! I love WEC endurance racing. I don’t think I could resist building this set before the embargo lifted!
That's what I was thinking, I always dreamt of older Le Mans monsters like some GT1 cars to be replicated with lego, but this is just as amazing!!

Are you sure there is no suspension? ;)
@@RacingBrick i dont know but i thought it would be funny to write that here XD

Yes, the rear shock absorber is under the rear differential
As a citizen of the US I sometimes forget about Peugeot so I’m excited LEGO went for a brand that’s slightly unexpected.

Nice catch, yes it's really there :)

Speaking of Peugeot licensed sets... Would love to see a set of a car from the movie series "Taxi" 😁
Tbh... This in Creator series with options to build "regular" and "taxi" version
This is the one to have. Lego nailed this one. Would be cool if they attempted the Ferrari 499P or Porsche 963.
Dark Bluish Gray is good because that means more panels in Dark Gray to help make the Osprey fully Dark Bluish Gray.
Certainly excited with low expectations but doesnt look half bad so far
I've been waiting for this to come.
I'm French and from Sochaux, the city of the first Peugeot factory and I'm really looking forward to buying it 🤩🤩
4:15 you can see there is a "yoke" as a steering wheel. So that gear ⚙️ definitely is not a steering wheel
Just purchased for $219 Australian. My first Technic kit. Looks awesome, can't wait to build it.
Can't wait to display this with my Ferrari 488 GTE as they are the same scale and race in the same series so will look great together!

You said we couldn't see the steering wheel, but in next photos 4:15 it is showing steering wheel made of two two-long beams
The wideness of the rear suspension doesn't matter. If you have two same springs on the each side, there is flexing.
From what i can see the suspension is indeed on the bottom in the rear.
There’s already a review + speed build of this set published in RUclips showing all its details
Well, there wasn't any when I made this video :)
So, maybe time for Speed Champions scale now?
There is already reviews on RUclips (Brick Depot Channel) with unboxing and speedbuild.
Peogeot, a brand almost unknown in NA, I can see this set heavily discounted in a few months here, will buy it then
Does this have a sequential transmission? I've seen reports it does but there's no mention of it from Lego.
The rear suspension has the spring in the bottom of the car.
When is the review?
I think the 80285 is also new in DBG. Any chance that there is a 87080/87086 (small curved panels) in there as well? I need those for my tank xD
@2:45 don't you mean phosphorescent?
I think the rear suspension will be solved with rubber, but we'll see.
And my question:
Did you manage to put the 1:10 size ratio to 1:10 by accident, or did you do it directly?
Lol, that was totally by accident but nice catch :)
is it a new "flip flop" beam in lime color at 4:05?🤔
Might be, or a lime frame

You asked if we need another 1:10th scale Hypercar. Yes, a Pagani Zonda-R.
Where on earth is the windscreen??
Hey! Thank you very much for this informative video! I like the LEGO look of this Peugeot Hypercar but somehow I was freaked out after you showed us how the real car is looking 😲 ... now I don't like the set anymore xD ehehehe
Kind regards from Germany (^^,)
It has interesting suspension system!
Are there really no soft axle hoses? I can't see any...
Why is there two different types of differentials?
Really like the look of this set, I should get it...
There is a pull rod suspension at the rear bottom of the car, go watch the speed build on other videos
