      Well remember that Uzzah touched the Ark to settle it when it was slipping (because the oxen stumbled) and he was killed by God. He did nothing wrong but was killed for disobeying God's command. (A really harsh punishment for what seemed to be for doing the right thing.)

    • @CaptainLynx-x5p
      @CaptainLynx-x5p 2 месяца назад +2

      @@jamesrawlins735 It may seem harsh, but let’s not forget that God is the perfect judge. We don’t know what was in Uzzah’s heart when he touched the Ark to stabilize it. You’ve also got to consider that since God is all powerful he could’ve prevented the Ark from falling without the need of someone touching it. So the fact that Uzzah touched the Ark not only is a violation of God’s law, but also a clear sign of lack of faith in his power.

      The wide shot of the warehouse is mostly what they called a matte painting. The majority of the warehouse is a painting that is painted on glass. The only part left blank is the live action part of the scene. The guy pushing the Ark. The painting and the live action are merged in post production. Matte paintings were used in the OG Star Wars trilogy and prequels. Two scenes that they were used in ROTJ was the Death Star hangar bay where the Emperor arrives. The wide shot showing the entire hanger with thousands of Imperial troops wasn't real. Another matte painting was the wide shot of the hanger of Ackbar's flagship. With CGI now fully developed matte paintings have become a lost art.

      Despite dressing in ritualistic Kohen (priest) attire and reciting a blessing for opening the Ark, Belloq presumably didn't undergo any ritual priestly purification, in addition to which he's not even Jewish, let alone a Kohen Levite (the only tribe permitted to serve as priests). Without any actual Kohanim present, any attempt to open the Ark is doomed to fail. Also, when reciting the prayer, Belloq also manages to omit the last part of the prayer, which consists of a blessing to the Jewish people. Quite possibly because he's in cahoots with the Nazis.

    For more than 40 years, the melting and exploding of the villain heads has never become boring but becomes more and more interesting especially with the availability of Bluray 4K and 3D. I have watched this movie 🎥 hundreds of times and this scene ten hundreds of times and never get bored. Used to watch this in the cinema back in 1981, on 📼 vhs tapes, VCDs, laser discs, dvd discs and Bluray discs. Back in the 80s and 90s, I used to watch this movie 🎥 at the nearest library where I used to live. Each time I booked the timing for viewing, I always try to choose late afternoon say around 6pm when the sun is still up and shining, at which time the movie will end around 8pm. Then I got to exit the viewing room into the main part of the library where the lighting ambience is EXACTLY as portrayed in the final scene of ROTLA. Then I whistled a bit of the Indy theme or later I managed to recall the brief musical notes of the ark theme while casually sauntered over to the shelf that I know contains the King James Bible and read the pages that describe the Ark Of The Covenant in detail and what it did to those impetuous enough to open its lid and peek inside. Those were the good old days😊

    Unlike most this scene didn't scare me as a kid. I was a precocious little nipper who was more interested in how they did it. The ghosts were double exposures of people moving about underwater. The melting faces were time lapses of wax models melting. The clouds were paint in water, but I can't remember for the life of me what they dropped into the paint to create the hole in the clouds, but obviously the clouds closing was that footage in reverse.

  • @АлександрИванов-е8б2д

    It is very strange WHY all the viewers were SO surprised.
    THE ARK OF THE COVENANT is described in the Bible in the Old Testament.
    It was a chest in which fragments of broken tablets were placed, the TEN COMMANDMENTS for people that Moses received from God on Mount Sinai (yes, those very ones).
    The Ark of the Covenant had incredible power. Only specially trained priests could approach it. In the film, by the way, it is shown correctly - the rays of God's wrath are first reflected from the chest of the robe of the one who stood next to the Ark (because he was dressed as an ancient Jewish priest), and only then they strike the enemies.
    An army carrying the Ark of the Covenant in front of itself would be invincible.
    The Ark of the Covenant was last mentioned in the city of Thanos.
    The city was swallowed up by the desert.
    Unofficially (!) The Ark of the Covenant is still being sought.
