One of the best songs ever made. The instrumentals make you want to dance but the lyrics are like a gunshot to the soul.
The instruments sounds like if they were picked from the battlefield and a soldier started playing.
I do agree, this has been one of my all time favorite songs, ever, but the story it tells is very saddening. Russian/soviet-era music is incredible to me because of how they can have amazing instrumentals over a sad song, war story, or about their history but still make it blend perfectly 🙏 слава родине

As a native Russian speaker I’m seriously impressed with the translation! Some of the words were changed around in such a way that certain phrases make sense to an English speaker but the true meaning is not changed or lost.

Not to be left in this grass
But In the context of the song the author says I hope I don’t die, wish me luck. Russian language is weird about separation or a word’s double meaning in some cases. So if you want to say “don’t leave my body in this grass” you’d specifically say the word “body”. The author says “wish ME not to stay here” meaning he doesn’t want to die in this grass. I know it’s confusing and I hope this explanation helped a bit.

this is the closest thing that this song can get to a true music video, it syncs with the beat perfectly and shows the contrast of civilization and war.

I jolted out of my chair when I heard the ZOV regiment of Leningrad oblast sing this song from the top of their lungs when they were marching back from MAR9 victory day celebration. I was cast back in time , to the day Tsoi crashed. He was a rebel and still true to his country.
