For anybody interested the stop leak also clogged the air to water intercooler. It took a good 2 hours to try to get coolant to flow through it. All the temps look good now even when towing but I suspect the secondary radiator is only working at half of its capacity.
Arod please tell your customers to never use that junk I drove a wrecker for years seen so many engines destroyed by using that junk!! Thanks for another great video keep them awesome 6.7s running!!
Learned that the hard way in 2016 I had a leaking radiator. Stopped in Albuquerque for a stop leak and poured that in, ohhh it fixed the leak but my oil temps got hot. After 2 coolant flushes and 2 oil coolers I finally got the junk out. Needless to say I changed the radiator to a mishimoto radiator.
Heater cores also love to grab onto the stop leak as well....that stuff is the worst thing you can use in your cooling system...another great video, keep up the good job and powerstroke information!
If it's aluminum a wood blade would work just fine and sometimes better. Using wax on a abrasive wheel for aluminum will help with cuts and no "Mar and bind up" keep killing it!
I used one time on my 1994 ford f 150 5.0 big mistake had pin hole in the radiator it stop it but later on it cost me just about replacing the hole cooling system heater core and other things even after that the truck ran a higher temperature than before
ive used barsleak for a coolant leak and it fixed the problem. problem is that it also clogged my oil cooler but that only cost less than $150 vs a few grand. did it twice in 7 yrs. used it in my secondary and holy hell , now that caused trans temp spiking close to 220 and now trans cooler is clogged. more expensive fix for that one. $600 just for the cooler. btw it will clog you heater core as well. thankfully it worked it self clean eventually. ** stop leak + diesel dont go well.
Thanks for the video. I am new to diesel engines and have been binge watching your channel to get up to speed. There are so many gauges on my new F350 that I am not sure which ones I should be monitoring constantly. What gauges should I have displayed and what would you say are the thresholds that I should be concerned about (what is a normal trans temp, engine temp, etc.)?
Arod! Question for you! The 2020 F350 does not have a traditional transmission dipstick (other than that POS thing that's located on the transmission housing by the catalytic converter). Have you heard of any fixes for this that can give us a real transmission oil dipstick? B&M has one for the F-150 but to my knowledge doesn't work with our Super Duty trucks.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod You should address this issue and talk about it so as to bring some attention to it---we really need a solution to this so that we can take care of our Super Duty trucks efficiently!!!!!
ARod, Good job explaining and showing owners what happens when they want to use Snake Oil products. And to all the whiners about how and what should be used to cut open, Start your own YT chan so the rest of the whiners can critique U! I think ARod is doing a helluva job trying 2 help ALL PSD owners!
Hey Arod i bought my 2015 from a dealer with 100k, she is filled up with the orange stuff in the coolant systems. What should it be? And have you done a video on how to flush out primary and secondary systems? Especially to change to a different coolant. Appreciate the great content!!! Atleast he didnt use bars leak lol.
Let's just put this out here so IT STOPS NOW! 1. Stop leaks are not put in modern vehicles unless you want to possibly spend more fixing the problems it creates in addition to the original problem. 2. Tire sealant corrodes steel and aluminum wheels and HAS TO BE WASHED OUT AND TIRE PLUGGED. EVEN IF THE STUFF IS PACKED WITH AN AIR PUMP IN THE CAR FROM NEW.
So on 2017 + 6.7’s what the normal operating temperature for the 6R140? Today I was towing my jet ski trailer (2,200lbs) plus another 500 lbs on the bed of the truck and the transmission was hovering around 200-209° F. Is this normal? It seems a bit hot to me considering I was not towing heavy by any means!
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod there's wildly varying information on the interwebs, please do a video explaining the temps, and if a aftermarket cooler is advisable? Thank you again.
My question is why in the hell would Ford create a cooler with journals that small??!!! I just don’t get it. Open it up!!! Allow it to flow better. You get any debris what do ever in your tranny, it will clog up that cooler! Same way with the oil cooler!!!!!!
A large number of small passages equals more total surface area for thermal transfer. Better cooling efficiency, but the tradeoff of easier for something to go wrong...
Went to a local Ford dealer today and spent about 1.5 hours looking at the new Bronco. Very nice...

Always good info arod! I don’t know much about diesels but learning with every video.
248F!! My 2011 F-250 transmission runs at about 190F with a 8k lb 5th wheel
Can you please do an video about acceptable transmission operating temperatures? Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
cool vid . thats crazy i never would've imagined the trans cooler heat exchanger pleats were that fine.

You would think people would know by now that clogged oil/trans coolers are the bane of Powerstroke owners existence.
Yet here we are 🤦♂️
Really enjoy your excellent videos.
Your music selection for this one was GREAT!!
Thanks buddy
I think the oil cooler is the same design so it stands to reason it would be jacked up too
A horizontal bandsaw with coolant and the feed rate nice and low would have made a cleaner cut, but I guess not everyone has access to one.
Yepp dont have 1
Good informative video Arod! Always learning something new from ya! 👍🏼
Oh the new trucks have an oil pressure gauge. Why not on the early models? It’s been on every vehicle forever.
Ask the Dearborn boyz🤷♂️
Use an air hose and blow the cut trans cooler so we can see if shit comes out of the halfway cut mark.
Didnt think about that

Hey there, if you'd like my time, you have to anti up mister
What is normal operating temperature for a transmission? No service info source provides normal values for TFT.
Gonna very in load...190 to 220-230 maybe

Sucks for that guy good information ARod thanks
Try and hook a hose to the fittings if it aluminum cut it with a circular saw it won’t glaze it over like a chop saw
All i had, had to borrow...
yes. do not use stop leak on diesel trucks. they have coolers that will clog up. both trans cooler and oil cooler.
What should your transmission temperature run when you not hauling or towing thanks
Depends what ur towing
No not towing are hauling Anything just driving down interstate I think mine is got something going on I run about 200 hundred to 210
Sound fine too me
What you stressin for
I’m not know thanks man love you videos

Yes If I have videos for that you can run the coolant you have in it you just can't buy that coolant from Ford anymore
Thanks brother!

Nope never use the stuff and never will. But I guess it worked it plugged up the leak.lol but I bet that cooler not so cheap.
Well it certainly stopped the leak and the ability to do its job...lol
Looks like it worked to me. It's not leaking. 🤣
Ugh, 6.0 oil cooler flashback when a Bozo thought he'd seal up a headgasket failure.
Hey Twin
Whaaaaaaa
Remember when people would say to put pepper or crack an egg into the coolant? Lol
Ummmmm no lmaooo
Or oatmeal
Yes. Black pepper.
It was basically putting your whole breakfast in there.... I've even heard potatoes as well lol!
