One of the workers at the store i manage, gets a bunch of organic foods, i.e. apples, oranges, bananas, lettuce, etc. to feed to their hogs. This helps them reduce costs, plus improve their overall health. For winter time you might be able get a solar battery charging setup to power water heaters.
Hello from upper peninsula of Michigan 👋🏻 don't get me started on goats 🐐 they destroyed most of our garden this year 😡 we have woven wire fence with barbwire on top of that. Our two smaller female goats and all the babies fit through some of the woven wire so it needs to be smaller. Where it's started to sag some they jump over the woven and under the barbed. And then they just started going under wherever they can. So probably will have to put boards or logs all around and staple the fence down. Plus maybe add another strand or two of barbwire. We let the goats free range. Would like to do the same with the pigs but definitely need better fence for sure. Been busy rebuilding the house this year that burned down last December so haven't had a lot of extra time for other projects. We don't ferment our chicken feed though we used to cook it on the wood stove. We have the same problem with water. Once it starts to freeze we have to bring the hose in and drag it out every time we need to fill up the water trough. As for buckets it's not so bad to pull them on a sled once there's enough snow on the ground. Looks like you have some Doberman dogs. We are trying to get rid of our six-year-old male. He cannot be trusted around the goats. Last year, him and his sister killed all but one female who was pregnant. The female was definitely a killer, the male still likes to chase the goats and when he thought no one was watching we caught him biting one of the females, so he has to go now.
Hello! Sounds like it’s busy over at your place, too! Goats can definitely be destructive . We will need to get them sorted soon so that we don’t have any gardening issues next season 🐐
Yes it's always busy on a Fram. Lol. I would be interested in seeing how you put your bees away for the winter. We couldn't afford to get bees this year. Most of the Amish around us truck their's down South for the winter, but we need to be able to keep ours up here and alive overwinter. Next time we get some. What kind of queens do you use italians or russians or a cross of something?
How deep is the frost depth there? Be handy to dig a water line out there and put a frost free hydrant. Not sure how that would work at your temps. Doesn’t get near as cold here in Oklahoma
Where’d u get the tin cans from @ 1:16 That would be a good size for our feed because the ones we use are kinda tall&Its hard to get the feed out of the bottom so we want to switch them out but couldn’t decide on what we want to try but those would be perfect
@@living.different Oh wow well that was a really good idea!I thought u were gonna say Tractor supply Lol😄I Just came across your channel&subbed Ive been binge watching☺️(Thx for replying)
@@LuvNailsNicole I’m not sure what tractor supply is! We don’t have that in Canada 🇨🇦 but I imagine metal garbage cans will be cheaper to purchase! Glad you found the channel and are enjoying the videos!
@@living.different No Tractor Supply in Canada! They gotta change that you’d luv it Lol Im in Michigan&have been to Canada a few times its beautiful! Yw&Keep up the awesome work cant wait to see more
Water pipe overly Insulated underground might just be a good idea. Water spicket in a well-insulated outhouse sized covered area might be a small job you could do. Why carry buckets if you don't have to.. Why is your feed so far away from your animals anyway.?? I don't get it.
We have plans to get water out by the animals at some point. We have only been here for a few months. The feed is in that location because there’s only one out building on the property
Love your home. I cannot wait to follow your journey.
glad to have you along for the ride!

You’re welcome! Glad you liked it 🐓 🐐 🐖
Lumnah Acres had trouble with freezing water bowls a few years ago and they set their bowls in old car tyres which they said worked
I’ll have to look into that!
Goats are great escape artist they need a 4 ft fence.i found that out by my baby goats.
We will be doing some fence maintenance soon!

@@dayswithdixie3185 I can’t remember what queens we have . To close them for the winter we put them under a pop up green house

We will likely be running a water line out this year!
They make rubber bowls and it easier to get the ice out and not breaking..
Good to know!
A side x side sure would be handy now !
A bit expensive for morning chores! Haha
♥️👍

Is a drivepoint well a possibility?
I'm not a farmer but what about hot rocks in the water
They would eventually cool down and the water would freeze ☹️ but it might prolong it from freezing
