5/5° horizontal gun arc and extreme loss of alpha/dpm over long distances is just too bad of a combo for me personally to get interested in this tank. If I got it for a really low price than it would probably be ok, but I'm certainly not up for a week-long grind through this mission marathon only to turn an inflated price into a regular one.
One of my favorites too, but that's actually the old login screen track! The premium hangar had some tones like that playing but much more subtly next to the fans blowing in the background.
Still amuses me that the Polish TD's are never meant to be long range sniper tanks yet they're the ones that have the best shell velocities in the game... like... why?!
The gun issue is something I seem to see in the Skorpion G as well. A lot of the times the shell loves to barely miss the target even when fully aimed.
It's because they rigged the game, duh. You will miss shots whenever you HAVE TO, it was their effort to nerf those non-pay-to-win players so those who paid to win might have some advantages farming these sandbags that couldn't hit them.
Yesterday played in 22 games - won 3. I've got 30k+ battles overall and about 50% win average - so mr joe average. My win rate has dropped over 10% since the start of the marathon. I will NOT be using money to make up for this oh so obvious way of fleecing the player base ( you know average players like me ... ) . So I've given up already.
Personally love the tank, but i may be biast beacuse i have knly played 12 games, i think the big selling point is how it scears people they will see 800 and not want to repeak witch makes it great fall holding flanks or picking up a lot of end game damage however will agree not everyones cup of tea
It's a pure shotgun tank but unlike the ISU-152 it has the armor and mobility to perform in close combat. If you like that playstyle (plus you can even flank higher tiers like a medium if you know what you are doing) you will be very happy with this tank. I wouldn't use a rammer, the dpm is already very nice. Instead I would go for improved aiming and improved rotation mechanism to calm the gun a bit and also improve rotation speed of the tank in case of a medium flanking. Hardening is fine, not sure about the module HP in this tank so it's either normal hardening, bounty, bond or experimental.

One game i make 4k dmg and another doing below 1k or zero :) so unpredictible tank and not user friendly especially T9-T10 matches. But you will be king if the T6 matchmaking blessing upon you. So i finished the marathon got the tank and i enjoy the brawling mechanics which is compliance my playstyle. I also like the play underwhelmed and not common tanks like Grom, Vipera etc so it has always big potential to enemy teams that they don't know fully realize your danger potential t :) thanks

haven't got the tank yet, but close combat is much better than perfect charge, if some heavy or some other tank face hug you and you are a one shot, getting that 0.001 seconds quicker reload could mean the difference between 800 potential dmg or no dmg at all and straight back to garage. 10% faster shell is always nice, since its APCR it was already fast with a high base number, but it also means that it is a bit of a over kill. the thing is this thing has pretty insane base APCR pen, yes the damage drops off, yes APCR pen also drops off over distance, but unlike many early premium tanks in the game, where they were worst than same tier counter parts and need to fire a lot of gold rounds, and their gold is still far worst than the GROM's standard APCR, this thing can actually be a very good money maker, thats why I look forward to the tank, i hope i can get to 60% discount then it is "fair er", it has been marked up so much, they are so fking greedy.
I will try experimental mobility, hardening and improved aiming. I think connecting the shots you actually take is better than reloading slightly faster and missing more often.
I dont care about getting the Grom, I have noticed tho that the games tier 6 up have been really weird with near 90% of games being total wipeouts in mins (yes i know it happens but im talking about every game). It feels like half my team are bot controlled charging in or just piling on own flank then RNG is complete garbage. For example I enjoy playing my Leo 1 and STRV S1 which very rarely misses shots, ive had a number of games in these tanks and it either dips fully aimed shots into the dirt (APCR mind you) or you hit and nothing even big weakspots like lower plates. Just feel like WG are trying to frustrate players into buying the tank with little to no discount lol
The Caliban has the play style that this tank should have: poor accuracy in close range, high damage, some armor but not hindered by the rest of the platform
Grom looks so bad most certainly be high probability chance of winning it in this year Christmas loot boxes. With my garage full of duff premium tanks I’m in no rush to go out and buy another premium to my ever expanding collection of unwanted premium tanks collecting dust.
This whole line is a contradiction! It's almost like the damage was reversed before they released the line... the high shell speed and narrow gun arc would not have been an issue from long range IF the damage would've been the maximum at 500 meters instead of the other way around. Poor accuracy, high pen and high damage at close range might work together but why did they give it high shell speed and narrow gun arc if it's meant to brawl at 50m? Also, the HE shells are almost useless and a money sink. Why? Because nobody will invest in any accuracy equipment due to the nature of the tank so shooting HE at distant targets is a gamble due to the poor accuracy and zero damage hits. Consider getting this tank only if you pass, at least, 6 stages in the marathon otherwise it's overpaying. The real price is at the 50% discount mark.
Honestly I *could* see the Gromit working with an HE loadout sniping lightly armoured vehicles, but given the kind of TD its supposed to be you're just gonna get yelled at in chat by teammates ahahaha If I manage to get this tank (about halfway through the missions), I'd probably play it a bit like my ISU-122-2 i.e. somewhere in mid range like you said (100-150m), though my ISU would sit further out at about 200-ish or more depending on the map and the fact that the Groan has better armour....With that being said, I would more than likely overestimate the reliability of it and get penned through the face by someone blasting gold at me... Ah well, we shall see

Personally I'm not the greatest at the game, but the Blyska line is one of my better lines. Kilana in the past 100 games I've had around a 58% winrate. Should I stick to my kilana or try and get this? I've gotten to stage 5 so far I believe with mostly the base xp missions but 2 cleared with the tier IX/X missions

you shouldn't. I rushed it for 70$, and maybe I'm just bad, but it's super hard to play with the gun traverse. Like more annoying than any fun you'll have with the big damage. Armor is also not that good and lower plate is wayy too massive

I got it at full price as I don't have the time to grind. My percentage per game is actually higher than any other of my tanks, and I've got a ridiculous amount of premium tans, and I'm not a very high percentage player, like 46% for many reasons. I foresee that going up so far with the Grom performance as my highest damage and exp in the postgame stats is the highest it's ever been, record breaking in fact for myself. That being said it's a feast or famine tank and the famines are not at all pleasant ,. thankfully with all the tourists on due to the grind marathon there's been more feast than famine, even in plus two lobbies, just gotta be a sneaky ambush or brazen brawler lolz

Ka-ri is a great tank. Its got some armor, dpm, penetration, mobility, it can spot for it self, the camo is not bad and it has juicy he ammo.

This tank has fear factor, the mobility is decent enough for 15-0 games and combine it with trollish armour makes it a perfect attack TD

turbo is defiently the better choice over vents. you will not snipe in this tank anyway and you already have enough dpm

On the third choice of equipment, I'd argue for improved aiming unit or exp. turbo T3 too, I think they're both decent choices.

turtle 1 is one of the best premium td. I am no longer playing progetto or somua, turtle is way easier for farming
