I fly 1.5 meter Discus Launch Gliders. They have amazing performance, can climb in the lightest of lift. But I've always wondered just how much better it would be if they were much bigger. Now I know.
this video brought back memories when I was a young boy .. my A1 glider I also handlaunched unfortunately it was not RC controlled and it flew away on a powerful thermal. I relived my youth thank you for your super video .
I really like this conversion from F5J to handglider. I think engineless gliders are the best. I understand that the F3J category is almost gone. I think it was the best because you exercised and at the same time you thought. Now many people prefer to move as little as possible.

Hi Julian, thanks for sharing your ideas and nice flights! If I could suggest a possible future topic, it would be, if you would be so kind and sharing you way of setting up a newly build glider, I mean only that you tell us the basic steps a principle you follow (in particular V tail glider, such as this in the video) as well as arrangement of the different controls on the transmitter which works well for you. (For example visibly, you work all the time with flaps, so you must have it assigned to a place that is in the right position..) thanks for considering! Have a great day!
Great designen Superb! But is it Mind CONTROLED because How the heck does the glider return to your hands Launcher ?!!!!!. Fascinating!!! Thank you for sharing your video. All the Very Best to you and keep gliding. JB. UK. 🇫🇴🇦🇺.
I have never seen flying like this. Is this Julian Benz? The glider responds like a faithful live bird as it comes back to its owner and in a split second brought to stall also with brakes! I watch in awe at this skilful flying. Thanks. Peter
@@RCflyingmore Julian...thank you for taking the time to even reply. I am limited to micro scale gliders because of places to fly them. I have just built the Carl Dowdy " Bug" from plans and tissue and doped it. It has a V tail which I have never built before. I have modelled for 50 years now but never built a modern Hlg or Dlg with carbon spars etc. It is ultra light and I love to learn modern build concepts What I have to ask you as a world class Rc glider pilot is......
Hi Franz, it's only a heat shrink that I used for it. Check out my fuselage assembly video from the Xperience Pro F5J on this channel, there you can see how it's made.
Good video, thank you for sharing this wonderful moment. May I ask the model number? Manufacturer? And how much it cost? Sorry for asking many questions. Thinking to have one myself. 🙏
Perhaps you could also use the holes of the 3D printed piece and the motor mount in the fuselage to screw it ? But if tape do the job, it’s a fast solution.
What black magic is this? I have flown a good number of gliders, but have never seen this kind of performance. I think I need to reevaluate what I fly now... Also need to find me a budget for an upgrade. (current models flying are Gentle lady and MPX Heron)
Just the same way I often use my F3J glider as HLG at fine sunny day - throw it by hand and climbe without towing. It's fun, and no need to retrieve the tow line. My glider is more than 2 kilos.
The price is around 1800-2800€ ready to fly depending on the version and built in components. Sounds probably a lot, but the model is handmade and not easy to manufacture with that quality.
I wonder if the PWR on solar is good enough for that? Without a motor, the draw from RC stuff is likely minimal. Could probably stay up longer than most people are willing to keep flying it.
Hello, what is the total weight including battery? And what is the "standard light"? I can only find either light or standard versions (besides FAI limit and strong).
Check out my other youtube videos here on youtube. You can see the assembly of such kind of a model in the Xperience Pro video episodes. The wing assembly video of it will be soon uploaded
The model will be shipped almost assembled. Only electronics need to be installed in the model :) The tesa tape is just for keeping the parts together ;-)

fabulous video. I have flown model gliders in the past before flying full size this past 20 years.

I used to chuck my Pike Perfect into thermals at a sod farm in Rhode Island. Love not using a winch or hi-start. Great video!
It looks like it's filled with Helium ;) Very nice glider
Haha, the chamber for the helium would be much heavier, then the model itself. But nice thought ;-)
@@RCflyingmore but why couldn't the chamber(s) be a latex balloon that you just fill up before flight?

I can see me trying this and getting my left and right mixed up and throwing the transmitter up the runway while I keep hold of the glider 🤣🤣
Ouh that would be not that right 😂 you could use a strap for securing your transmitter 😉
The glider is the giant plane-looking thing.
Pretty simple.
LMAO that made me laugh
@@RCflyingmore but then with strap he would launch himself... Though not very far😊 lovely flying btw!
Possibly a cheaper option😂
