I've been using the shed as a greenhouse for awhile now but not like that. You gave me some new ideas. Thank you. ☺ I've been watering myself bc I didn't think the retaining soil worked that well. I'll definitely be getting some of that deluxe brand. Thanks so much Sharky
Do note you need to get to Ginger island and unlock the shop there to get the recepie to craft deluxe retaining soil, so it's not exactly an early game solution. Indeed it might be easier to just grow your out of season crops on the Ginger island farm.
you got me 100000% after the customisation fact 0.0 though i was going to do the greenhouse shed anyway. but after that last little thing. omg my mind went stayed to thinking what i shouled use as the flooring and such XD.
Deluxe retaining soil works in the greenhouse too. I built a hops farm in pots in the entry of the mines and filled the dwarf's cave with kegs. Dwarven ale brewery, commencify! I am so glad Pam never goes to the mines!
Bombs to get rid of kegs.....oh my heart. You worked so hard for those kegs.. All those trees...all those mine runs ...Sharky! When you can't plant ancient seeds, plant pineapples. Thanks for a another great SDV video.
This is so smart!! I’ve been using my sheds for kegs and preserve jars, but didn’t think to use them for crops!! Also you can put the water retaining soil stuff on the seeds after planting too, you just have to do it the same day that you plant the seed
Barns. You can use barns for this, as well. You can't customize the interior, but you get far more space out of a level 3 barn. I use them for my keg/preserves empire with 160 kegs or bins in each barn.
I'm thinking I will want to have multiple "garden sheds" so I can incorporate the appropriate processing machines into the appropriate sheds to save me the unnecessary and repetitive trips back and forth when I no longer need to do so.
This is honestly great esp. for an end-game farm where u kinda don't wanna have space for outdoor crops (to make way for either animal buildings or just to make way for more cosmetics and aesthetics for your farm) but still want money from crops, plus with Catalogue (which is 30k from Pierre's store) u can choose any wallpaper or flooring to your liking meaning it's much easier to design your sheds.
Thank you for another delightful video! I actually saw this on a different channel some time ago, and have been working toward it ever since. She used pineapples, which are super lucrative (and also pretty), and I love this method, but getting all that retaining soil takes some time. At least we have the greenhouse for early game. :)
gotta love the deluxe retaining soil for the pots and greenhouse... heck one doesnt have to reach ginger island to get em either (even tho the recipe is gotten there) if one is using the beach farm. basically its rng of course but if the farmhouse is upgraded 2 times at least then there is a chance that the crates that ends up on the beach might give deluxe retaining soil.
Does the deluxe retaining soil give you a 100% chance of watering overnight EVERY night or is it a one done thing? Sorry im on my first spring ever and I've been looking up videos!
I got you bro.😂 1 deluxe retaining soil=1 seed to fully matured crop. Its from wiki. Deluxe Retaining Soil can be placed on tilled soil before or after planting a seed, or at any stage of crop growth. If the soil is not already watered, the fertilizer has no water to retain and plants will not grow until watered once. The chance for retaining water is 100%, which means after watering once the soil will be guaranteed to be watered up until the crop is ready to be harvested. This makes it especially useful in situations where Sprinklers are unavailable, such as in Garden Pots or in most areas on the Beach Farm.
i always forget the efficiency of having sheds on a farm; not just for building your own distillery, but also for growing all the things! (well...almost all the things....stupid ancient fruit)
Another reason: you can only grow fruit trees and ancient fruit year-round in a green house. So add 25 fruit trees and the rest of the soil with ancient fruit.
I grow 1600 Starfruit in the Summer (4 plots x 200 spaces x 2 cycles w/Jojimos), have a greenhouse of Ancients, 3 big sheds of kegs, and a basement completely filled with casks ie. winery galore. Not to mention an army of 60 happy pigs pumping out 100,000 daily of `g`. My farm is functional, low maintenance, very pretty, and I am making $$$$ hand over fist. Sure, I have a Winter lull but I also have more money than I can spend. When is enough enough?
I already do this since 1.5 come, i use sewer and tunnel to for pineapple and hops. Great source of money for sure, next stop using community and mutant bug liar for my personal greenhouse😂
I wonder how much the version affects the viability of this. You can't access tiles diagonal from you on non-pc versions, so things like the best cellar layout are different.
@@aaammnldelpilar_ I would assume so, I play console version. The furniture catalogue can be purchased from Robin for about 200k and it gives you access to all furniture items including paintings and lights. Game changer! 🍍 and thank you!
Pineapple?? How does one get those? I’ve been playing for a year (9 years in the game) and I’ve never seen one!

Don't let Shane see it or he'll never leave.

I have 5 of this on my farm
Since I have a limited and uneven farming space (I have a riverland farm)
This method is really great
It's kind of annoying me that I never thought to do this before lol. It seems so obvious and so simple but never occured to me 😔
Well, now you know! Enjoy 😉
Wasn’t in the greatest mood today - your videos always help perk me up! ☺️

Sharky you absolute genius!! This will be perfect for my full completion run!! Thank you a million times over!! You rock!!

And you can even use deluxe retaining soil to finally get those last few spots taken up by sprinklers!

Welp now I gotta start playing Stardew again.

This is going to help getting that blooming Golden Clock quicker!
That's very true! Good luck ⏰
Cute story there with the Islang Goddess!
Really enjoyed this one!

I never thought to do this with a shed!
I'd still use the greenhouse to grow the ancient while growing normal stuff with the shed
It looks good but how do you get the super deluxe soil? Your shed looks gorgeous with those windows and lights!

how can i obtain the recipe for the pots craft?
It’s a great idea but is pretty late game. You don’t get the garden pots or the retaining soil until fairly late on, or at least I didn’t!
I really wish you could customize the outside of them. I guess probably with mods.
You can change the colour of them... but yes a fully custom design for the outside would be awesome 🤩
Oh, you can change the color? Maybe I'm thinking of the silo and whatnot. I know you can change the house, barn, and coop color.
Bravo.
Deluxe retaining soil... Ah yes that super cheap and easy resource.
The hardest part of deluxe soil is unlocking the recipe otherwise yes it is pretty cheap to make
Very easy to craft! Just work hard for the recipe 😋 well worth it imo !
For some reason I thought I needed a radioactive ore to craft it. NVM.
