I used to see Birdman and The Saints (sometimes) in the mid to late seventies. Both groups do have something of a following in the US. I don't know how large that following is, but I am aware that Bruce Springsteen did do a cover of a Saints song in recent years.

Deniz Tek the guitarist is actually American and a qualified fighter pilot, impressive. Love this band so much. They still play every now and again. Going to see them in Sydney this July.

Hmm.. Some faces on here I recognise on the Hanier channel. I saw Birdman live but it wasn't this gig. I wish I was there!

My mate Ryan (OnceWas) brought your video to my attention. I was at this gig that was taken place at Paddington Town Hall on the 21st of April 1977. The Saints and Radio Birdman did this gig together and it was very ... very... very.. intense.

Another early Oz punk band called The Saints is worth checking out. “(I’m) Stranded” is their most popular track.

I'm very surprised that you checked them out. Radio Birdman are legendary in the ''punk'' and ''proto-punk'' world. Guitarist Deniz Tek is from Detroit and was seeing MC5 and Stooges during the time the bands were around. He came to Australia in the late 60's and got Radio Birdman up and running. The mascot that led the ''yeah hup'' cheer is Johnny Kannis. He co-founded another band called Hitmen with two or three members of Birdman. I'll let somebody else do the ''well, actually''...

@@deepcutsreactions7774 I do know a lot about music. I also run the nzoz archive channels, and I think you might have used a couple of my videos.
There's a video I'm uploading on the Internet Archive of Stevie Wright doing a ledendary live performance on Evie in 1979. It was taken at the Sydney Opera House, and was something of a come back.
Stevie Wright was the lead singer of the Easybeats. Once its up, I'll let you know...

@@deepcutsreactions7774Every nzoz channel I made caters for every year between 1960 to 1990. The 50's and 90's are not separated into individual years. If you want to check the music from Australia/New Zealand in 1967, just type nzoz1967. If you want to check for 1971, just type nzoz1971.. etc.

Iggy Pop liked them. No need for more reference. I stumbled into Rob Younger at an Iggy Pop gig (and I mean staggered drunkenly) when they played. I asked him, what are you doing here? He replied, "Seeing Iggy Pop". What else can you say?
