What a treat. I was lucky enough to see Darrell and Tim perform together when they collaborated on their first CD together many years ago. The blend of talents is a great thing to witness....
2:13 A House Of Gold (Hank Williams) 5:34 Brother Wind (Tim O'Brien) 10:50 Hopkinsville (Darrell Scott) 15:49 Gentle On My MInd (John Hartford) 20:50 Paradise (John Prine)
Roots music doesn't get any better than these two boys. Musicians, singers, songwriters, they are among the best ever. Their album Real Time recorded in Darrell's living room is among my favorite bluegrass albums, simply superb.
OH MY GAWD BROTHA!!!!!!!!!!! THAT HOUSE OF GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOT DAMN!!!!!!!!! DARYL AND TIM, IF YOU EVER SEE THIS, REAL TIME IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw this pair at the boat race music bar in Cambridge UK in 1999 ish , there was was only a handful of people in there, it was midweek and I don't think many people had heard of them ,, they absolutely blew us away with their raw talent, now if I catch them on tour with transatlantic sessions there are thousands of people in the audience, I cherish that time at the boat race as a jewel in my life 👍👍
Darrell is a FANTASTIC backing singer. As well as being brilliant as lead and guitarist too or course. Just sometimes the skill of backing can be overlooked. Wonderful stuff.
Not to mention the MULTIPLE awards as a song-writer. Wrote "Long Time Gone" (Dixie Chicks) and "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" (Patty Loveless) - among so many others. His own solo acoustic version of "Long Time Gone" - he is such a killer player - he sounds like a whole band all by himself. He's the whole entire package . . .
House of Gold is my favorite Hank Williams gospel song. I do it a ccapella sometimes, and people always like it. These guys just kill it, like everything else they do.
Feel the love, guys!! You are such supreme musicians, and when you are together it's goodness x goodness! Have never heard you do anything that didn't make me smile (unless it made me cry)!
Darrell seems to be getting all the love, but nobody is better than Tim. He's not as bluesy as Darrell but his picking is _so_ crisp and clean. And versatile. If you don't own Red on Blonde...well don't blame if you live an unfulfilled life.
@@jamesbenson4597 😘 You are absolutely correct, man. Right now I'm just blissed out thinking of how many phenomenally talented people there are on this big blue marble.
@@jamesbenson4597 I'm *sayin',* James. And rarely you run across someone who's just working at a job, living their life, and Nobody's ever heard of them. It does blow one's mind 🧡
I dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
We just would like to know where it is exactly. It's according to how close to Virginia it is.How much is admission or will 1/2 gal of the "good stuff" work just as well? Remember where it's comin' from... We have more than beautiful scenery here in the fall!!!!
A Total WOW! Thank you Tim and Darrell!
Their harmonies are devastating they're just so fucking good it blows my mind, man I love it.

Opening with an acapella Hank Williams song just floored me, shows their fantastic, soulful voices and great pickers and songwriters, too

Someone on a farcebook post pointed me in this Direction.....I'm super impressed. Ya'll have a new fan!
Some serious musicianship going here … wow ! Great voice harmonies through out !!

The way Darrell plays his guitar for the Gentle on My Mind number, is ....astounding.
Most beautiful.

jamminathippiejacks Ha! It truly would. It's just a few too many thousand miles away. Maybe one day.
yaisum ~ I learned a ton about singing backup and harmony from listening to Ricky Skaggs.

Greetings from Brazil! It is amazing! Thank you!
Really enjoyable! So happy to find this.
This rendition of Gentle On My Mind is quite moving.... all the tunes are great! Thanks for posting.
Saw them in Augusta several years ago. Great music to 'grown-up' by. I love live music in a place where people sit and listen.
Feel the love, guys!! You are such supreme musicians, and when you are together it's goodness x goodness! Have never heard you do anything that didn't make me smile (unless it made me cry)!
I feel sorry for the folks giving this a thumb down. They miss a lot in life.
Just watched this in high def on my Roku via RUclips TV - it rocks!
The weather this is been said or not in the comments that's a dynamic duo of vocal excellence!!!

Right on, Red on Blonde, the best Dylan cover album, next to maybe the 1963 Baez does Dylan, and back then she really was doing Dylan (lol)
Morag MacGregor Tim is a great singer too. Not flashy but always great harmonies as well as lead vocals. I love him

I had the great pleasure of getting to see Darrell play it with John Hartford’s son, Jamie. It was really special.
man (or woman), I love these guys
Tim is the kats!
I’m not the type to easily get choked up but brother wind always does it for me
Sugarlands Distilling Company do you want to give me one of them beautiful bottels 4 FREE 😂
I thought briefly about the 13 thumbs downs. ???????????????????????? where are you??
It don't get no betta!!
THAT....ARCHTOP!
At 19.50 to 19.55 a very funny joke on mandolin
What s the tittle at the 16.00 mn? Fabulous song!
Gentle On My Mind written by the great John Hartford
Not everyone can wear those hats!!
Well Done!! Wonder what kind of guitar Tim is playing? A very nice sounding archtop.
+mandolinman1917 Pretty sure it's his bouzouki--seen him playing it in other videos.
It's an octave mandolin (some call it a bouzouki). Tuned GDAE, an octave below a mandolin.
Hey do I know what I'm talking about or is that a nice little Maplewood guitar at around $5,000 I'm not sure
If you're referring to Darrell's, it was made by Stefan Sobell who lives near Hexham, in Northumberland, in the UK.
@@philiprundall3432 They are quite cheap - Stefan will make you one for $24,000 or thereabouts.
Dangit. Now I have to buy a white bowler straw hat.
