Because they choose not to. That’s the reason. Idk why you guys drag this shit on like some long lost 2008 expedition 😂 people change, bands change, that’s life. Stop living in a time vortex and get with 2023 Personally, idc for it 😂
@Gabriel Gonzalez well, actually Danny chooses not to. Im pretty there was a whole thing about it when he joined back. Yes he had vocal surgery and almost destroyed his voice so it makes sense for him not to scream like he did on Stand up and scream. My issue is that the instrumentals can at least be heavy without the screaming.
I really like what you had to say about Sleep Token with Finn. They really do contrast all these octane-core bands that are flooding the scene. Its even sad to see Architects go down that route
Am I insane in thinking in thinking no? Look at what Spiritbox, Bad Omens, Motionless In White, Veil Of Maya and Architects are putting out, and have been putting out. To me, AA feels limp in comparison. I actually think I prefer Danny's solo country album.

Apparently after watching an interview today, this was their “middle of the spectrum” song and there are much heavier songs on the album. The next song seems like it’s gonna be heavier. This was their “All My Life” by Attack Attack.
This is one of those songs that i've "heard before". There are a lot of familiar parts in this track BUT they do those parts well. It is a good song but hopefully they'll have something heavier up their sleeves.
They're from England making American pop country music. It's one of those octane songs that also makes it on CMT. That's what the whole band is now. A few years from now they will be Keith Urban core.

I really loved their self titled album, i hope they will be going into this direction but we'll see ig edit: I didn't hate the last 2 albums they both had some good songs (antisocialist, alone again) but heavy AA will always have a special place in me
Their self titled album is the only one left with some songs I really like from them (Where did it go and Under Denver). I think they still don't know quite yet what they want to be. If they went the full hard rock route, I think they would be much better off that way.
I'll be honest? AA does this "oh this is much heavier!!" thing all the time and people keep on falling for it. Dark Void is an amazing song, but take this as a lesson that with Asking Alexandria, things are not always the way they seem at first lol
Eh. This is definitely much heavier than their recent stuff. I hope their sales and views are showing them why heavy stuff is what the fans want. I see this as a good start in the right direction!!
They really don't though. In fact in recent years they've literally pushed the idea that it ISN'T heavy. They've been very vocal about not wanting to be heavy. That's why a lot of people were intrigued when they said it's heavier this time around. This is also only one song off the album, the second song teaser sounds like it will be heavier even if not a straight up metalcore song.
@@invaderhemp Ah, true. Perhaps I was too quick to say that they as a whole - but if you keep the whole picture in mind, this is not the first time a song was teased that way. Remember when Down To Hell came out? Ben said something about this being like FDTD, when it wasn't. There was another AA song as well that was teased similarly, but I forgot which one it was. Plus, I think a part of it is that people have kinda setted up for disappointment? I saw people genuinely say that this will 100% be like Stand Up and Scream and Reckless and Relentless. Not even the teasers hinted towards either...
When AA released SU&S and R&R albums, they were in their late teens, early twenties. They were doing young, reckless rockstar shit, drinking, coked up, partying, being irresponsible, very emotional, etc etc because they had the youth and energy to. And they were able to bring all of that stuff and that energy to their music and writing. That's why we got the shit that we loved so much, it was angry, energetic, RECKLESS. But now most members of the band are in their 30s. Their emotions are balanced, they're starting families, feeling their age, slowing/settling down and they simply don't bring the same energy that they used to because they CAN'T. They're not angsty teenagers out to prove themselves or "stick it to the man" anymore, they can't be irresponsible, experiment, and try risky new things in their music. They simply cannot bring the same themes back because they're in a more mature place in their life. They can't give us the *same music* because they're no longer the *same people* . Not to mention Danny's complications with his vocal chords, he can no longer go around giving us the screaming and growling that we loved him so much for. Unfortunately, as much as we all want MORE of old school AA... I think it's over. It's *BEEN* over. There's no way to recreate it at this point in their lives and I'm honestly tired of getting my hopes up with each new release, with the hopes that I'd feel how I did with those first two albums again, only to be completely let down. On top of that, to make that letdown even worse, being promised "heavy" new music and getting something lackluster. Its ALMOST offensive because we KNOW what heavy is, don't play us for dumb and say that something is heavy when it's not. We know what heavy is, we know THEY know what heavy is (...Or at least they USED to), they're not fooling anyone. I'm not saying they're *trying* to fool anyone, only that they should try to be more accurate with their description of their current music. Maybe their interpretation of "heavy" is skewed because of their age, like how the radio is on Lvl1 of volume, but it's still too "loud" for grandma. Lmaoo mostly joking. I'm trying to accept their growth into something new, and what they're doing isn't BAD, but it's not what I'm craving and what drew me to AA in the first place. Honestly, if the past couple albums were the first ones I've heard from AA, I would not have been drawn in enough to listen to them. Therefore never being interested enough to look into their past to find out they USED to be what I'm looking for. In the end, AA will always have a special place in my heart and the first two albums will always be replayed in my car, but I really am just tired of the false advertisements and being let down over and over.
I know this video is kinda old now, but with the new AA album out now I gotta admit that I'm soooo pleasantly surprised with it! I'd be interested in what you think about it. I did already really enjoy Dark Void (because it reminds me of the red self titled album), but I think the new album has some even more serious bangers on it (Bad Blood is mental), maybe you'll check it out at some point? :)
Honestly this reminds of the Poison album, which is where i started listening to them. I actually really love Dannys solo blues stuff, and this song is pretty dope.
Many times being a heavy band is a damnation to not be creative anymore, some people just expect Teenage Metalcore with cringe lyrics, this track is gold, and the next one seems even better 🔥
It's been fun watching fans of old AA get hyped about this. I said it from the first teaser: I learned my lesson after the "I am iniquity" teaser which led up to the barely heavy self-titled (which I still enjoy). I love their music, but most definitely don't trust them. They'll say what they need to promote a song/album. They wanted back to their heavy roots in 2016 with The Black then "matured" out of it in 2017 with self-titled.
I skipped over the original video, as I do with every Asking Alexandria video, just to watch this video and still got forced to listen to this. It's too heavy! Please don't do this to me ever again Nik. I like your channel.
I slightly agree but I think their recent album sales and views are gonna push them back in a heavier direction. Because this is wayyyy different than their previous two albums. As having Danny back does change the style I personally love his vocal range more than Dennis. But Dennis is still a beast
Hey if you want some cool Denis’ Stoff stuff I really recommend checking out the album “Demons Away” by Drag Me Out where’s he’s the lead singer/screamer.
Well, I'm convinced we have two eras of AA fans. You have Nik and us who definitely remember the good ole days, and then you have the fans on their page who swear up and, that THIS is the heavy they've been waiting for - and I couldn't be more confused. Hey, people are gonna like what they like 🤷
What people need to remember is Danny’s voice is shot. It pains me as a fan since Reckless and Relentless to say but it is. He can no longer scream the way he used to. And as much as that sucks I still support him and the band all the same. They just had to change up their style.
His vocal technique was the main issue he was doing the most brutal and destructive high screams without proper warmup and combining with alcohol will dry out your vocal cords so quick. His low growls are still as good as they were but I'm interested to see how His highs sound now that he has progressed with his vocal abilities.
The video teasers gave me let it sleep vibes but I'm bias to them I'd love them even if they released a whole 12 song album of silence. They've been my favourite for almost 10 years
Firmly convinced Danny was kidnapped and replaced about 8 years back. New Danny seems like a completely different person. His voice is so different, he looks different, and he's become almost aggressively American.
So happy than this doesn't sound like 00s Metalcore again, just for capture the "fan service" Also the teaser got me hyped to get more self titled vibes, magnificent ❤️🔥🙌
I mean, what do people expect, them to go back to their Stand Up and Scream days just because they said this will be heavy? If people actually thought that would happen they were guaranteed to be disappointed. It is heavy relative to their last 2 albums. If the entire album was like this I would be happy, but I know it won't be, this is probably the heaviest song.
Old fans want a band of guys playing about being cool for making noises and 0-1s in a while album, but heaviness doesn't mean better, melodic stuff is amazing too

Nic's expression to this is a whole ass mood🤣 100% felt
Here's the thing about Asking Alexandria 😂
Their self-titled teaser was the intro for Eve, heavy but the rest of the album was soft.
Their Like A House On Fire teaser was for The Violence, heavy but the rest of the song and album was soft.
Their teaser from See What's on the Inside was from Alone Again, heavy but the rest of the song and album was soft.
We've heard The Void, they showed a heavy part again for the teaser and the rest of the song was soft.
I would like to think that after the first few times of doing the same marketing trick, that people would just get it 😂
Don't get your hopes up 😂
It's obvious that Danny's return to Asking Alexandria was based solely on the point that Asking Alexandria will make his music and completely leave the metalcore genre.
The background scream in Eve is the exact same one as this songs opener. Copy and paste.
@@Descendv2 Wow I didn't realise that until you said it. That's insane to copy paste one scream several years later.
The worst part is that they clearly still can make heavy shit, but just choose not to for whatever reason.
Because they choose not to.
That’s the reason.
Idk why you guys drag this shit on like some long lost 2008 expedition 😂 people change, bands change, that’s life.
Stop living in a time vortex and get with 2023
Personally, idc for it 😂
They choose not to so that Danny will stay in the band. It’s pretty much just a Danny-centric band at this point since Denis left lol
Like can they at least do the jukebox thing like motionless in white does. Like sprinkle in like 3-4 really heavy songs at least lol
@Moriah Grace Drag Me Outs' latest album is better than every Asking Alexandria album since Reckless and Relentless😅.
The new Asking Alexandria song feels like it's Asking me to fall Asleep 😂😂😂
From crabcore phenoms to struggling dad rock.

This I agree with.
I never heard the term “octane-core” before but I know exactly what you mean lol
We’ll never have another Stand Up & Scream/ R&R-esque album. They need to stop making music.
My friend just played this for me yesterday. He said "wait for it, they go full backstreet boys".

I really like what you had to say about Sleep Token with Finn. They really do contrast all these octane-core bands that are flooding the scene. Its even sad to see Architects go down that route
Metal core has become technical pop metal
If this song was made by anyone besides AA, we would be praising it for being a great song
Am I insane in thinking in thinking no? Look at what Spiritbox, Bad Omens, Motionless In White, Veil Of Maya and Architects are putting out, and have been putting out. To me, AA feels limp in comparison. I actually think I prefer Danny's solo country album.
I am disappointed that it is not heavy like it was teased to be, but THAT CHORUS is one of the best choruses AA have made in a minute. It has been stuck in my head all day and I actually really enjoyed the whole song. Just some points taken away for teasing heavy.
They could be just trolling to get people talking then next song BAM
@@ShadowSlayerSD5 it’s enough hoping, it won’t be heavy. They won’t ever be heavy again. These records lately have brought them more money than the first three ever did, actually if they ever do go back to heavy it will only be to keep selling records when the new fan base stops giving a shit.
agreed, absolutely love the chorus/song is actually pretty solid imo!!
@@joshua_5683 I feel like op in that it is the most solid chorus they’ve come with in a very long time, but I feel the rest is so generic. Imo the last three albums have been just generic radio rock. They hit their stride in reckless, and death to destiny is probably the best album they ever made in terms of depth I believe

I waited for this after what Nik said about his previous AA reaction. This is THE content.
I checked the original video before this reaction. I was a huge fan of AA back in the day, so every now and then I want to check how they’re doing. I reacted the exact same way 😂
It’s just for a different audience now, not saying it’s bad.
I have a bad feeling that this is the only "heavy" song we will listen from the new album xD
I think the end of this song is gonna be more similar to the rest of the album, from the breakdown through the chugged chorus is exactly what the rest of the songs should be
Apparently after watching an interview today, this was their “middle of the spectrum” song and there are much heavier songs on the album. The next song seems like it’s gonna be heavier. This was their “All My Life” by Attack Attack.
It’s not “bad” but I’ve heard this same thing hundreds of times on local rock radio for like 10 years.
You looking for heavy in asking Alexandra is like looking for something heavy in a pillow store
0:54 brutal
This is one of those songs that i've "heard before". There are a lot of familiar parts in this track BUT they do those parts well. It is a good song but hopefully they'll have something heavier up their sleeves.
I THINK ITS TIME FOR YOU TO MAKE YOUR OWN ASKING ALEXANDRIA HEAVY SONG
Lmfao I can’t remember seeing Nik more disappointed.
AA could do so much more. Just the potential that Danny has makes it 10x more disappointing
this song was supposed to meet in the middle for new fans and old fans but the song bad blood is purely for old fans
I remember seeing this uploaded last night and thinking "here comes the nik video"
They're from England making American pop country music. It's one of those octane songs that also makes it on CMT. That's what the whole band is now. A few years from now they will be Keith Urban core.
the problem with asking is the marketing... if they didn't insist that they would come back with something heavy and not so structurally generic songs it might work...
nik if you haven't heard it yet, you definitely gotta listen to Bad Blood by them, or atleast the chorus and last 45 seconds 😂 it's pretty old school of them!
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
I really loved their self titled album, i hope they will be going into this direction but we'll see ig
edit: I didn't hate the last 2 albums they both had some good songs (antisocialist, alone again) but heavy AA will always have a special place in me
Their self titled album is the only one left with some songs I really like from them (Where did it go and Under Denver). I think they still don't know quite yet what they want to be. If they went the full hard rock route, I think they would be much better off that way.
It's better than most of the stuff from their last 3 albums.
As Danny once said "We are heavy...heavy with lyrics"
The look on your face when he started singing screamed "oh godDAMMIT"
ADTR and ABR run circles around these dudes to this day lol
Can’t wait for the We Love You reaction
He’s gonna have a confused face while mindlessly headbanging it’l be so funny to watch
I actually really love Dannys solo blues stuff, and this song is pretty dope.
it gonna be kinda From Death To Destiny, that's for sure.
They pulled a slipknot💀
Why is this band the most gate kept band in the scene every band changes their sound but yet once they did it they were blacklisted
Many times being a heavy band is a damnation to not be creative anymore, some people just expect Teenage Metalcore with cringe lyrics, this track is gold, and the next one seems even better 🔥
@@joaquinmusic1 This is the most generic dad heavy rock shit you can listen to bruv 💀
It gave me a modern from death to destiny vibes
I know this is unrelated to the music/video in general but Nik you really look very healthy these last couple of videos.
Good for you!
This song is exactly what we all knew it was going to be lol. The new make them suffer song made up for it though.
I skipped over the original video, as I do with every Asking Alexandria video, just to watch this video and still got forced to listen to this. It's too heavy! Please don't do this to me ever again Nik. I like your channel.
I really wish Denis had stayed in asking Alexandria. We could have gotten some more albums like the black.
No way! Danny much better than dennis . From death to destiny and Others >>>>>>> The Black
Nik making "how to make AA's ACTUALLY heaviest song yet in 30 sec" and then making the full song? Pls
Agreed
The last few Asking albums have been bangers bruh. The dude has too good of a voice to scream like a spaz for no reason.
His voice was shredded, so Im not mad that Danny can't really scream anymore.
It sounds like a well-written song, but it is very pop music, especially in the vocals.
Well, I'm convinced we have two eras of AA fans. You have Nik and us who definitely remember the good ole days, and then you have the fans on their page who swear up and, that THIS is the heavy they've been waiting for - and I couldn't be more confused. Hey, people are gonna like what they like 🤷
ik u don't react much but the new make them suffer goes hard
Hey little nikki, this song is amazing! Ive been a fan of AA for all of their career and love this song.
Nik, Long time fan. love your new format dude! Definitely ahead of the game at every step! Great work!
A Nickel Back song 😂
They've been my favourite for almost 10 years
I seriously dont see why everyone is hating on this track i love it
Cuz it's not up to standard of old Asking Alexandria. People want OLD Asking Alexandria
Cause is not for the same fans that have 16 years old when their first album came out, some of those fans grow with band, which is amazing 🙏❤️🔥
same reason ppl dont like the new ptv album lol
Firmly convinced Danny was kidnapped and replaced about 8 years back.
New Danny seems like a completely different person. His voice is so different, he looks different, and he's become almost aggressively American.
I get why Nik is disappointed with this song (I guess it was the marketing of the band, labeling it as a heavy song), but it´s a really good one.
I feel as though amity was one of the bands that stayed true to the heavy statement. That new album had insane drumming
So happy than this doesn't sound like 00s Metalcore again, just for capture the "fan service"
Also the teaser got me hyped to get more self titled vibes, magnificent ❤️🔥🙌
That approximately 40 seconds towards the end should have, at the very least, been the entire song
I like it. It may be soon we'll get to hear danny's lows
I loved this type of video Nik. I would love to see some more of these, im hoping you do make more ❤
I mean, what do people expect, them to go back to their Stand Up and Scream days just because they said this will be heavy? If people actually thought that would happen they were guaranteed to be disappointed. It is heavy relative to their last 2 albums. If the entire album was like this I would be happy, but I know it won't be, this is probably the heaviest song.
Old fans want a band of guys playing about being cool for making noises and 0-1s in a while album, but heaviness doesn't mean better, melodic stuff is amazing too
Bands can be heavy without relying on screaming; just look at VOLA, For example.
@@wheelsofmercury hell metal used to have no screaming at all. I swear these people who think metal = constant extreme vocals haven't heard of Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer, and the like.
@@zacharyengle4256 exactly! They only kind of screamed in certain moments like the opening of Angel of Death by Slayer. Even Tom G Warrior- one of the guys widely credited for starting harsh vocals in metal- didn’t really scream as we know it today; he had sort of a raspy yell, actually.
