@@BayouMaccabee Yeah, I really only liked 2-3 songs on Rebel Meets Rebel, and I'd say the same about Damage Plan. I think Phil still did some good shit with Super Joint Ritual and Down, but I wasn't a huge fan of the Abbott brothers when Pantera dissolved. I didn't like the nu-metal stuff. Far Beyond Driven was the end for Pantera. Great Southern Trend Kill and Reinventing the Steel had good songs, but they weren't the same. Trend Kill was too experimental, and Reinventing the Steel was too cliche of a "comeback" album. We're hard again!!!

Dimebag is the lead guitarist (blue guitar with lightning bolts) which is affectionately known as The Dean from Hell . When i was 15 i saw them with some friends in Cleveland and they were hanging out by their tour bus. We saw everyone in the band except for Dimes, my friends left to call our ride and then Dimes came off the bus. I got to talk with him for 1-1.5 hours before my friends came back. Dimebag gave me an autographed Heineken bottle and pot leaf necklace that he was wearing.I still have them as well as Dimes pick (that is a cool story unto itself) He told me how to do his harmonic squeal. Pantera were a band that loved thier fans and we miss them.

When this album came out, there was nothing like it. Their second major label record, Vulgar DIsplay of Power, is nonstop anthems from the opening track to the very last. I am blessed to say I saw the original lineup 5 times in the 90s. The surviving members are touring as a celebration of the band's music. I've seen that lineup twice. It's awesome. Oh, a suggestion for Pegasus Vs the World, you should check out the home video (that was a thing back then 😏) Vulgar Video. While other teens were tuned into Yo! MTV Raps, late night Saturday I was transfixed by Headbanger's Ball. "Cowboys from Hell's" opening chords were the intro music to Headbanger's Ball. This was the one time when you could not only watch hairbands but you could also see the underground scene with Metal that wouldn't get airtime anywhere else. It had other hosts before and after, but the best was Riki Rachtman. The others weren't bad, but you could tell Riki was another headbanger like you. The good old days when MTV actually played music that is what the "M" stands for.

Now it’s got shows like have sex with your cousin on the beach and has nothing to do with music. And it’s a predominantly black channel. MTV didn’t used to have a race.

Imagine u were guitarist Dimebag Darrell (then, Diamond Darrell) and u were live on MTV studios in 1990 to promote Pantera's first music video 'Cowboys from hell'... and as soon u were done, somebody on the set tells u that your IDOL, vocalist Rob Halford of Judas Priest, is on the phone wanting to talk to u (He had seen the Judas Priest t-shirt of 'British Steel' that Darrell wore in the video) and he loved the Pantera song and video! And then, Halford tells u that he wants Pantera to open shows for Judas Priest... THAT was the IMPACT that Pantera's 'Cowboys from hell' 🤘🤘had at the time it was released...
Original Kiss lead guitarist Ace Frehley recalled doing a photo shoot w/ the guitarist named Diamond Darrell of Pantera in 1992 for a guitar magazine... and Ace is a tall guy and in comes this short guy w/ greasy hair and a goatee... and Darrell was one of the biggest Kiss fans, showing some of his Kiss collection to his guitar hero... Ace recalled Darrell taking off his shirt and there was a huge tattoo of Ace Frehley's Kiss makeup persona on his chest... and he begged Ace to sign it!
"No way!" Ace replied, but Darrell was persistent... "C'mon dude! Please!"
Ace relented; he signed Darrell's chest tattoo and he was just in heaven!
They took a break during the shoot and Darrell disappeared for a bit... he returned and showed Ace that his autograph was tattooed on his chest.
On tour, Dimebag Darrell was the life of the party... he was always giving away shots of whiskey and cola (He called it 'Black tooth grin' from a Megadeth song) to fans, crew and other bands backstage... and u couldn't refuse! Pantera had a rule - u drink w/ the band or u get fired 😲And quite a few people were puking at the end of the night cos of the shots going round... Darrell was always making up games backstage to fill the idle time, including giving people ca$h to do gross things 🤮
Ozzy/ Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde called Pantera a "toga party 24/7"... He dedicated the emotional song 'In this river' to his friend Dimebag Darrell in 2005 w/ a music video depicting himself and Dimebag as 2 adolescent boys - the video ends w/ the 2 boys jumping in the river and getting separated by the current and an adult Zakk Wylde emerges alone from the river and makes it to the bank.
When Dimebag Darrell was killed in 2004, many of his peers showed up to say goodbye at his funeral and service... One of them was Darrell's idol - guitarist Eddie Van Halen of Van Halen... Even though Eddie Van Halen was in bad shape from drug and alcohol abuse in late '04, he brought w/ him a used guitar that was photographed on the album 'Van Halen II' from 1979 and donated it to be buried w/ the late guitarist... He also reportedly played a message on his answering machine that Dimebag Darrell had left just prior to his death, thanking Eddie Van Halen for his contributions to guitar playing.
Gene Simmons of Kiss donated a Kiss coffin which Dimebag Darrell was laid to rest in.
That was how big an impact Dimebag Darrell and his brother Vinnie Paul had on the metal community.

You are right. Dimebag is the one with the curly huge amount of long hair playing the lead guitar that you love so much. They were in the beginning of heavy metal.

you literally made me cry at the end when you lamented about seeing them irl. They were my first concert and I saw them 3 times over the years. recordings dont do anything like what being there was like and it hurts me to my core that this generation will miss out on some of the best sound ever to make its way to the universe

My first show was with my Korean friend Suki when I was 15. She was 16 and 4'11" We had balcony seats ... I went down to the floor .... and I got my ass kicked in the PIT. My parents thought I was at the movies. We went to 2 more shows together over the years! What people dont understand is there WAS NOT ANY SOUND like this ... This was being played on LOUD speakers that we dont even use today. We dont play music loud enough today to appreciate what THIS IS>

Firstly, R.I.P DBD. Nice vid man. Your H. Mack vids got me into your channel, keep up the good work mate. I would really love to see you react to a band called Periphery. There are so many great songs by them but if I had to pick one (that had a music video) I'd go with Wildfire.

You could end up feeling "Hollow". You'll be saying "I'm broken" if you survive "5 minutes alone". And even if you leave "cowboys" behind you, you still might "by demons be driven", if you aren't "slaughtered" from "shedding skin". Heck, you could get "sandblasted skin" from the "floods", and then they'll have to "drag the water".😂😂😂 if you survive, you may reach "a new level".

Vinny Paul was the drummer and he has passed away as well. Pantera is having a reunion tour it started last year and Dime Bag's best friend Zakk Wylde is replacing Dime and Charlie Benante is replacing Vinny on drums. A lot of Pantera fans aren't happy about it but I think they're doing an amazing job 🤘

Two tracks you should check out :
Pantera - "A New Level" which is about standing up for yourself when everything seems against you.
Type O Negative - "Halloween in Heaven" which is a tribute to Dimebag, as Type O and Pantera were friends.
