Thank you for providing an in-depth view of an inspection. I am a seller (first time) and have an inspection coming up. I came to find an example of what I need to expect with a house inspection in California. I found this to be a valuable informative video. Thank you again for making this available.
Minute 1:03:07 Ben mentions, "Code of ethics". Relating to providing services that may be in conflict with the inspection. I have a question? So would providing mold test, Radon test, sewer inspections be in violation if found in home. So if my Home Inspection business offers those services as part as my marketing with internachi and I find those problems, and the buyers wants the service from me. Would that be a violation? The problem I see is we have all these skills and certification, yet, cant provide the service to already existing and willing clients. Or am I off on this?🙃
This is a great question! The S.O.P. is the "base or minimum" we build our brand from. Your market defines this. I far exceed the S.O.P. None of the extra services you add is right or wrong. For example, I will not do form only 4 points. This is a dis-service. I hope this helps!! ruclips.net/video/_O9tQkKIb4o/видео.html John Grimaldi CMI and InterNACHI Home Inspector Mentor
I believe what is implied by "providing services" falls more along the lines of replacing components, or repairing plumbing, electrical, offering to come back at another date to add insulation at a cost, so on and so forth... Mold test, Radon, and Sewer scope inspection are ancillary inspection services that benefit both the inspector and the client. Hopefully my response helped or you can try emailing Ben directly, he's very good at responding via email 👍
Ben, your enthusiasm seriously gets me pumped up diving head first into home inspection.
Nice! Go, go, go! It's awesome to be a home inspector.

Hi, Jason. You'll want to check out Clause 11 at www.nachi.org/code_of_ethics.htm
Are home inspections physically demanding like having to do crawl spaces and attics?
Yes. We're all in great shape. Athletes of houses.
