  • Skoll is the highest performance, most flexible, least expensive balanced phono preamp available today. Put it in your system, sit down in your chair, and adjust everything with the included remote control. You’ll give up nothing to the big-boy phono preamps out there-while keeping a much fatter wallet!

In most part I like your unboxings, but this is a phono preamp not a preamp to control an amp . That is why no volume control.

Thank so much for the feedback. When I was first starting out I didn’t realize the difference and almost ended up with no way to control volume. There are a lot of lower end phono preamps out there that do have volume control, like the Fosi Box X4. I like having that control on the preamp in some cases but wouldn’t really expect it here. Perhaps I could have explained that a bit better.

@@NoFrillsHi-Fi I gotta tell ya, I've been using the original Schiit Mani Phono preamp for years now, and have never looked back. It truly is a workhorse, with a small footprint.

That’s awesome! I’m gonna try to get my hands on one to try it out at some point.

I tried one, in 1 word - disappointment. I know Schiit denies it and tries to blame physics but the Skoll has a major f-up in the design with the left channel being noisy and it is absolutely audible on efficient speakers and headphones.
I'd say wait for Skoll 2, most probably it will be a well reworked PCB.
There is no excuse if I tried 4 phono stages in the exact same setup and only the Skoll had a severe noise in left channel. It's not PSU hum but some HF zzing and it's also measurable even with the inputs shorted.

That’s really a shame. I’m not having that issue with mine, I suppose it’s possible that they made a running change, or maybe you got a bad unit. Of course it is also possible that my speakers and headphones aren’t sensitive enough to pick it up. Out of curiosity, how long ago was that?
