I really like this pattern. Hubby and one child prefer orderly, structured patterns. The alternating widths and variable colors put it to the edge of what they like, but the regular square shapes and the black anchor it enough for them to find it interesting without going over the top. Thank you for sharing such a great example.
Love this quilt pattern. I appreciate your opinions and instructional videos very very much. Looking forward to your next one. Thank you and have a great week ❤❤
Thank you for sharing your opinion again. I collect old quilting books for this very reason. They are timeless! When I first saw your RUclips image for this video I thought "It's an Amishy quilt!" Love your favorite scrappy quilt and am glad someone added the alternative for folks who have 2 1/2" strips. Thank you for all you do for us. If I was up in Oregon I'd love to come to your store. It sounds like a lovely place.
I have those booms and have used them over the years. I wrote down instructions for the scrappy quilt. Have a large amount of strips so this pattern is on my list to do.
Hi from Malaysia. Ya, I love this quilt very much. Can't wait to try it out! If I want to make a 10 inch block, what will be the measurements like to have the same effect as the quit shown . Thanks
Nice! You could also use 2½" stripes; Center block: 2½" x 2½" Round 2: 2 pieces of 2½" x 2½" plus 2 pieces of 2½" x 6½" Round 3: 2 pieces of 2½" x 6½" plus 2 pieces of 2½" x 10½" For a total of 36½" of the center/round 3 fabric and 18" of the round 2 fabric The block would end up being 10" x 10" ... Am I doing the math correctly ..?
@@michaelbai180 ..? No, it wouldn't be the same? My suggestion is to make it with a jelly roll and end up with a size 10"x10". I never said it would be the same ..?
@@sofietstolk sure you can use 2.5" strips for the prints but not for the black if you want the same design. Maybe 2" for the black? I think I'll try that because I have a ton of extra jelly roll strips.
Nice quilt - I like it. Do you have a reason for using the vertical layout of the edges and not the horizontal? I tend to use the other layout - by putting the side pieces on first and then the top and bottom. In this block it wouldn't make any difference, as you can just flip them, but most blocks I notice they tend to put the longer pieces on the top and bottom and not the sides like you have yours placed. Is there are any special reason for this or just personal preference?
Does this scrap quilt have a pattern name? I just finished this delightful quilt using QAYG with sashing and have had people ask me the name of the pattern. I just say “The Opinionated Quilter #33”; somehow that doesn’t seem to do it justice. I continue to enjoy all of your videos. Thanks for your down to earth approach.
One of the things I say often is, you don't need a pattern for that. No there is no printed pattern, I just made it up. Once you have the block measurements, you can make it super scrappy, use stash (my version) or even use yardage. It is so totally up to you. I appreciate you watching my channel.
I've already made 3 baby quilts for next year. They're already for showers. I think there were baby quilts 7 for 2022. Today, I was given a bunch of Dick and Jane fabrics, I'll be figuring out that one today/ tomorrow for my next baby quilt.
What does she mean when discussing what she used she says 2.5 yds of black and then she says and I don’t understand “10 inch each of 12 scrap/slash. Is that a 10 inch strip wof or a square? I don’t get it can someone help?

It wouldn't look the same because some strips are cut at one width (2") and others at another width (1.5").

I love quilts l that confuse the eye, look a little bit wonky & totally aren’t! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this intresting video.

No reason. I just go for consistency. Either way works.
A pleasure, as always!
