There are always those moments in every Claude T. Smith piece where you can tell he has a distinct soft spot for old time big band music. You just don't hear those harmonies anywhere else.
It was a fine honor to play under Claude T. Smith's direction in the early '80s for an entire week at Band Camp at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weathorford, OK. I was 1st or 2nd chair clarinet then and this piece was my favorite. I still love it. Claude T. Smith, great composer, great conductor.
I my humble opinion, Claude T. Smith was the best concert band composer of the 20th century. Great to see his works still being played and still in print.
I played this last year as a trombone. I started composing in 5th grade, and have continued up until now. I'm actually using this piece for inspiration for a piece I'm currently writing.

For a second, I thought you wrote, "In my horrible opinion."
I remember playing this in 2005. It was what started me on my path of musical composition, what made me want to explore music

fellow tubas that hate the chorale tap in
I love to play it but holy hell is hard to play it all quietly, i try to give it some emotion lol
Oof it feels waaaay to slow at 65 to the allegro
Playing test :/
This sounds like a pokemon theme
I wish the flutes weren’t in unison during the chorale part. It would have been nice to have the 2nd flute part be a mix of the both oboe parts.
to me some parts sound like pokemon songs!!
I feel like measure 65 would sound just that much more enchanting with a harp
This music piece is about Friendship.
There is planets music in the anthem for winds and percussion music piece.
Tubas have some of the melody in Anthems for Winds and Percussion.
There is a metronome in this piece.
Tasted like Popeyes or on second thought a delectable donut from the donut shop !!!!
Ew who are you Who types like this?
This piece has a train sound in the background.
There are triplets in this piece.
