I think pranks where people say they cheated on their partner are horrific. Why would you want to put your partner through that, especially just for a joke?
Yeah, and there are worse things people put their partners through... I saw a prank where people pretend to have been killed or have pretended to hurt their pets!!! Just horrible. That's why I LOVE Joe and Caspar's silly little pranks, like putting post it notes or water all over the rooms. That's more annoying than shocking or devastating!

Nice to see that you use your platform to discuss different topics like this, not a lot of people do and I think we all need a reminder and a real talk from time to time. Really glad that I found your channel like two months ago, (I binge watched all your videos.HILARIOUS - always great content)
I watch a lot of different youtubers and somehow felt like there was something about the two of you that was different from all the others, you felt more real. So I genially believe that you guys don't lie to your audience and there is never a clickbait or anything. I would not worry about competing with that shit, stay you and stay real. People love your channel!

I think at this point, most people assume everything online is fake until proven otherwise. You guys are a rare exception. All of us boobies know how real you are and how much being genuine means to you, and thats just one of the many reasons you are so great.
The thing with fakery is that people get tired of it. I watch some youtubers that clickbait all the time boyyyy do they clickbait. But I know that people are constantly being stung along. I was intrigued for about a month because the titles and thumbnails were so crazy but as I said, I just got fed up of it. That's why I'm so glad that I found you guys, you guys are so genuine and people don't get tired of those who are authentic. Your video titles aren't misleading or your thumbnails don't have images in it that don't have anything do with the video itself. So thanks for that love youuuuu :)
I totally agree. I also imagine that the RUclipsrs themselves would get tired of making the content too, if it's fake and they aren't passionate about it. I also believe that when you are passionate about something it truly shines through!

I have friends that always have a ton of makeup on and always filter or Photoshop their pictures and the only thing I tell them is " Don't do that cause if you were kidnapped tomorrow no one would be able to find you cause no one knows how you look like"
I used to watch a lot of RUclipsrs, pretty much all the time. The Rose Ellen Dix channel is the only one I've been keeping up with consistently for like five years. I only watch your channel's and a couple others because I really appreciate authenticity. Thanks for being true.

I've always come back to this channel because of the authenticity. Even if things were ever omitted or not talked about, it's never seemed to be out of a deceitful nature.
Personally, I think it'd also be really funny to make a mocumentary style prank video that was obviously fake. But over-the-top, cheesy acting kind of fake, as a way to poke fun at dishonest prank videos. Or prank video gone wrong where the tables turn on Rose and Rosie!
I watched that episode too a few days ago and I feel like that is true to how it is now. And maybe in the future it'll be worse because I know people who think they're social is 'dry' so they just go out to eat and dress nice just for a photo with them eating a plate of food. Social media is getting a bit more competitive society wise and it kinda scares me a bit haha
Wow that's horrible! I've actually noticed that recently I've had loads of fun times but I don't put it on social media... I'm not trying to hide things I just forget to take a photo in the moment! It's sad that people see it as a competition. It's good if you see someones social media and you use it as motivation for your goals. But it's sad when people start to change themselves to fit in.... xxx
TheRoxetera yeah there we go! It's always nice to get motivation on social media and seeing ones transformation because it pushes yourself to do better. But there will always be that side where people are bummed because they want to be like everyone they see which I find sad. No one should want to be like any other person because there's only one of them and they should realize that the are the unique ones & they are beautiful. Social media can have pros and cons but it's scary at the same time.
i believe that some are fake, but i do believe that you two are genuine.. iloveyou rosie.. you're really getting more and more beautiful and gorgeous..

I don't ever use filters or any kind of photo enhancer EVER. I don't feel the need to hide behind a filter. People are gonna see me anyway...might as well just be me. It does make me sad that some people feel like they need to look a certain way or act a certain way to attract everyone. This is how I see it, whatever your personality type is, and no matter what you look like, some will love you, and some wont. NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE. In fact, people will like you more if you just let who YOU are, loose. Just let you run free. It's such a waste of energy to be someone your not.
Let me start off by saying; I don't usually comment on videos online. I will typically give it a thumbs up, and move on to the next one, but this one struck a cord with me. Thank you for posting this, and thank you both for being one of the most positive representations out there for our community! What your relationship gives me is hope, and to see such genuine optimism, love, support; for not just each other, but for people in general is such a beautiful thing! great video! would love for you to talk more about media, especially with the whole pewdiepie shit that's happened lately and your opinions on that. Personally I think the media just take everything out of context and don't understand channels have certain audiences who actually understand that things are a joke, they basically tried to ruin a career and I don't think that's appropriate for them to do!

Makes me think on Essena O'Neill. She went back to her Instagram and edited her captions later from her "casual/fun/effortless" vibe to the truth- that she was undereating, stressing about getting the perfect shot, and feeling miserable in the pursuit of more and more followers and fame.
I think that for some, social media is genuinely a way of expressing yourself and sharing special moments with loved ones. However, I do think that there are a growing number of people who do edit/photoshop/heavily filter not just their selfies but their entire lives as presented on SM, and this can do serious damage to self-esteem (for the sharer basing their worth on likes, and those viewing who feel their lives/looks aren't as glamorous in comparison.)
I never really understood why people follow and are followed by strangers; my friends and I get around the issues of fakery etc. by only sharing our accounts with people we know.
Controversial maybe, but I can't really understand why anyone would need strangers to follow their selfie account except for a desire for approval from others and perhaps some degree of narcissism. This obviously isn't quite the case with celebrities- but I think there should be a degree of responsibility on them to spread a positive message. Sure, take the selfie at a flattering angle in good lighting, but don't completely change your body shape with an app and then claim that it's real. Young girls need to know that beauty comes in many forms and "flaws" are normal. Maybe if this was the norm we'd see less body dysmorphia in our younger generation.
LOVE this comment, totally agree with all your points. It is so strange following strangers isn't it? But then on the positive side, it's amazing how the internet can connect strangers like that. Especially if you have no friends, but can search tags about things you like (I don't know, say fitness) and then follow strangers who may become your real friends. It's weird to follow strangers but also amazing if you build genuine friendships that way. But then, another problem with the fakery is, are you really talking to who you think you're talking to? xxx
There is something lovely about the way that the Internet can bring people together! And I totally agree that it makes it much easier to go out there and find your people. But as you say- some of those people aren't always who they say they are so you have to be careful and verify things when you can- Skype is an amazing thing! You can't really trust that Social Media is representative of who the person really is because good parts and bad, you choose what parts of yourself you want to share. You might say "Oh that person is keeping it real by putting an unflattering photo or a fail video of his/herself" but that's still being curated. It might be a reflection of the individual, but it's like a reflection with a filter on it. "This is me!" vs "This is the me I want you to see!" But on the other hand, I don't think we as consumers of media have any right to demand full access to a person, so we're left with what they give us. And honestly, as long as we can acknowledge that that's the case, we shouldn't have a problem enjoying what they share.

totally agree with Rose on this that there shouldn't be lying on things you are doing to get attention, however a bit the same I'm okay with people using editing to make themselves look better on things however just as long as they're not unrecognisable or are pushing that people have to look a certain way. I totally agree with how annoying click bait is and I've never seen you click bait or lie. Especially with the brand deals you make it clear at the beginning of the video whereas other youtubers hide it in the middle

I think people are a version of themselves on social media. We all have different roles and act differently depending on the role that is needed. You would act differently if you were a student in a classroom vs. out with your friends vs. at work. The same goes for social media. You create a role for yourself on social media - how you want to be seen by others - and act accordingly. I try to present the most interesting/funny/happy version of myself. It is technically true, just not true all the time. Just like you're not always studious when outside of the classroom/student role.

that's like one of my fav black mirror episodes because it does reflect on our modern society bc life slowly merges into the technology with apps and social media. Kinda scary but Black Mirror is an eye opener for sure. I'm afraid that RUclips becomes crap with the clickbait, prank, drama videos. But thats kinda everywhere.. I'm lucky to have known you two for a long time now and seeing you two grow makes me have more hope for the future

I think the black mirror episode was more about how people are valued in society and the moral implications of that hierarchy and who is then deemed worthy or not as a result.

I think another massive issue is the double standards in the media ie. those who say 'nobody's perfect' but then idealise the so called 'perfect' body, 'perfect' face (etc.). Another great video! I think that while it is normal to feel pressure to compete with other RUclipsrs, remember how you guys started getting known - it was about your personalities, humor, openness, conversations etc which brought and still brings people to your channels. I still remember the first videos of you two together that I saw years ago and felt I could definitely relate to the content, would smile, laugh, cry, tear up from laughter (!) etc and would look so forward to the upcoming videos. I think being genuine and innovative is what brings people back to your channels so please, keep it up :)
