I come back to your videos regularly to relearn these types of concepts. That’s why I watch every single one even if I know I won’t use it right away - I know that when I need it, Serge will have it!
I created a split screen on my computer in FCP using your directions and it worked great. I have a narrator on the left side - to take it one step further, I want to vary the content on the right side of the screen. I thought it would be as simple as Blading the right clip and adding new content to the new clip. However, when I do that, for some reason, it also adds the same content to the original clip that is to the left of it. I'm going to keep working on it, but I'm missing something, probably very simple!
Helpful tutorial! QUESTION: I'd like the split between my videos to be softer, sort of a fade, rather than a harsh line. Is there an easy way to do that?
Great stuff. Learned a lot but how do you move the image inside the mask without touching the mask? (if I want to reveal more of her head instead of her body for example ) when I use transform tool, it moves the entire mask and not the image behind. HELP!!! :)
I have the impression I am talking to myself.... Anyway, so I was able to download the adjustment layer and in FCP 11 it should be save in the FCP app's package contents->Content-> resources ->PeTemplates-Titles. And I was able to Move the video without moving the mask. Great video @Serge
Hi Serge thank you sharing your knowledge. Quick question how come every time I do the slips screen the timing doesn't match. Is there anything to do it so it match the timing on both screen?
What about a generator created in motion with dropzones? I tried to do it but I'm still quite inexpirienced with motion. the footage was heavily cropped in and distorted. I wanted to make this for vertical videos to stack 3 videos. Could you do this?
@Serge1913 I have a big problem on a video, I want to apply a kev burns effect on a split image except that when the image zooms it is spread over the second video, how can I separate them? I tried the mask but it follows the kev burns movement so ineffective... :(
If you have the Motion App (from Apple) than this is a 30 second effort to create your own adjustment layer. I used this tutorial ruclips.net/video/jI0J5ii0tsw/видео.html
You are an excellent teacher. Final Cut makes multi screen way more complicated than it should be. Good Lord!
Thank you for this video, Serge. You create some of the best tutorials for things like this by converting complex tasks into quick and simple ones.

With the adjustment layer method, I cannot see the clip underneath the primary clip, whereas you can @ 5:40. Any reason as to why this is?
Thanks, Serge!

This really drives me crazy. I wonder if there is a bug with FCP11. What do you think?

Great tutorial!
Much appreciated!
Amazing 🙂🙏👍
Wouldnt it be easier in the 1st example to just reposition and crop the clips as is and put a white layer underneath?
Nice. How do I split vertically to have 1 clip on top of the other
Is there a good split screen plugin out there
Hi Serge thank you sharing your knowledge. Quick question how come every time I do the slips screen the timing doesn't match. Is there anything to do it so it match the timing on both screen?
Is there a drag and drop plug-in to make a split screen effect ? Something simple that can take 5 seconds ?
Anyone, can the layer adjustment method be used to make 3 splits?
Cool - thank you
ripple trim? How did you do that?
Great mind

I don't have an adjustment layer?

Very good info. I wish you didn't go through it so fast though. I had to slow it down 50% haha
