Marius Danielsen you are just and idiot. Why you’ve should do this? You aren’t high tenor like Tom Chang, I am not sure that you are even just a usual tenor. Maybe you will try yet to sing Caruso with Pavarotti or Still loving you with Klause Meine?
@@romanpears8442 hey take it easy pal, the 5th octave isn’t tenors’ territory only. With correct technique and proper training, some of baritones can even hit some 6th octave notes, Ken Tamplin is a case in point. As for Tom Chang, he was just beyond this world.
@@arubisudesu have you heard another high tenor voice like him? I know tenors and baritones range. Tenors sing from C3 to C5, as a classic tenors range, some lyric tenors can sing d5, ultra lyric high tenors like Tom can reach f5 or g5 with head voice without mixed or falsetto, everything higher is mixed or falsetto notes.
@@romanpears8442 no i haven’t heard another high tenor who comes close to Tom Chang, but I’d say Air Supply and Daniel Heiman are some closer ones. Toms got both god-given gift and solid technique. Btw I’m going to share the relatively “recent” vids that surfaced on the net for the first time, decades after the show took place. He sounds so effortless even when sitting and playing the guitar at the same time. Just Wow
@@arubisudesu can you send some great Asian songs, bands? I know just a little about Asian musical vocal culture, I’ve heard Tom Chang only. BTS haha better not to listen, TVXQ boys band I like though) don’t know anymore. I wonder why in Asia people prefer high or even very high falsetto sounding voices but not baritone. I’ve listened to Air supply, he is just a good lyric tenor, not high tenor. Daniele is great, but also mostly like just lyric tenor with great rock technique, reminds me a little bit of Chester Bennington.
Yu-Sheng Chang is one of the best male music performers in Taiwan. He was talented but humble, passionate and always helpful to people. Chang is still living in the hearts of many many. Young folks who never have overlapping years also love his pieces and respect his positive personality.
I wasn't lucky enough to be born at a time where he was already making those hit songs. The reason why I knew him was because my parents would play a song that he made into a duet, I asked my mom about him, my mom told me his name, and the fact that he's in Heaven now. I only pray that he can sing in Heaven, there's no pain anymore, no scar anymore... If he's still alive, I could see him forming his rock band with a few friends, after he passed away, people in the music industry pay respect to him by singing his songs, he's a legend, funny, humble, and talented. His vocal range was two octaves plus a 6th, that's not going into falsetto(He usually sang with all actual vocal range, no falsetto), if he goes into falsetto, I imagine his vocal range could go into three octaves. The highest note he could sing is A5, a high A note one octave above the middle A note (A4)
I like how you said you wanted to do this for 12 years and finally done it. That’s admirable. Keep up the good work and I’ll see you do it again in another 12yeas
I strongly recommend songs with high pitch by him. Such as 河 兄弟啊 玫瑰的名字 永公街的街長 我期待 and 我想把整片天空打開 etc. Please forgive me because I don’t know the official translation of these songs.
Well.. less than 10% of the Taiwanese are self identifying themselves as Chinese. Most of the people from Taiwan are identifying themselves as Taiwanese (including me). The same logic can be applied on Australians. I don’t think anyone would call them British.
Not a bad attempt, and as a long-time fan of his and his fellow Taiwanese, I've always wanted to challenge this myself too. IMHO, you could've sustained the last note (A5) longer if you had shredded more of the chestier sound into a headier sound. I've done a very brief cover of his epic song "River", where he sustains an A5 for 9 seconds or so. His voice was naturally high-placed, so his high notes always sound very chesty. A rare breed indeed.
That cover is a featured vid in my channel. And Chang's highest note known so far is a D6, which he hits *twice* in this song 兄弟呀 ruclips.net/video/H55q_az2oBg/видео.html BTW, in end of of ur vid, Chang confesses to the MCs that he was using mixed voice to hit that very last note. Still, his mixed voice is very impressive considering how much chestiness there is. Freak of the nature for sure. Another one that has a naturally high-placed voice is the singer of Air Supply, who Chang cited as one of his influences.
Yes, the A5 is not something I normally can do, so I was a bit shocked haha. I can fo a G# easily, but that last half note is crazy difficult for my range.
@@MariusDanielsen Based on what I'm hearing in this vid, I think you can sustain an A5 longer. Just need to make it sound headier (head voice).
